My mother arrived at Ridgecrest on 11/18/24 with a C-Diff infection. The goal was for her to gain…read morestrength and return to independent living. Because of the C-Diff infection, she was isolated for 10 days and had some OT while waiting to receive PT. She then got a UTI, and then she got C-Diff back over her 34-day stay at Ridgecrest. An infectious disease dr saw my mom on or about 12/16, and they decided that the C-Diff was cleared up and could stop that antibiotic. On the eve of December 21st in the early morning hours, her roommate reported to the nurses that my mom's breathing didn't sound right. They had been roommates for a few weeks, and she knew something wasn't right. Nurses checked on her but decided she was okay, and when she did respond in any way, they said ok, we'll let you go back to sleep. My mom was found unresponsive on the morning of December 22nd. 911 was called, and my mother was transported to the hospital. My mom's roommate was the one to inform me what was happening. When I called Ridgecrest, it took 3 attempts for the nurse tending to my mom, Fedna (?), to take my call. She didn't even know where they took my mom, and we had to do my own research to figure that they took her to where she came from. WOW! Can you imagine trying to locate your loved one after finding out from their roommate that she was taken to the hospital? And not knowing why! Later, I learned that Nurse Fedna came in to scold the roommate for advising me. Even worse was my brother and me walking into the ER and finding my mom intubated. She had a DNR. Ridgecrest couldn't find the DNR paperwork. They had my number. A quick phone call could have assisted them. Mind you, I filled out every piece of paper they requested - and there was a LOT. I gave them all the info they asked for. The paperwork had the box checked off for advanced directive. You had my mom in your care for over a month, and if you failed to finalize that part of the paperwork, why not call or ask for it? It was terribly heartbreaking seeing your loved one on life support when you know that was not their wish. The hospital extubated her, and she passed 3 days later, on Christmas morning. In my opinion, my mom and her family suffered needlessly for an additional 3 days due to Ridgecrest's negligence. The ER dr informed me that the infections were just too much for her to fight off. Remember... the infectious disease dr. deciding the C-Diff was cleared up? I called and spoke with Cyril, the administrator of Ridgecrest about the DNR situation on 12/23/24. Cyril assured me he would investigate and let me know whatever caused the miscommunication - wherever this ball was dropped. I wish I had recorded that call where he admitted the weekend staff was less than good. I told him it was my utmost concern to know that no other person entering Ridgecrest would ever have to go through something like this again. Guess what? I never heard back from him or anyone else from Ridgecrest. Never heard from anyone to check how my mom was doing or to offer any type of condolences. Aside from ALL that, communication wasn't good. I had to constantly chase people for responses from the intake process through treatment. They have an app, but good luck having anyone respond to it. Kayia, the NP was probably the most communicative and informative with me. I thank her for that. Anitra would respond sometimes. Kieona sometimes. One nurse, Nurse Sarah, was compassionate and knew her stuff. Thank goodness she was there in the evening, and I could rest better knowing Sarah was there. If your loved one is here, or probably any other skilled nursing facility, be ready to be on constant alert and constantly advocating for your loved one. I will say the place seemed clean. The person answering the phones during the day was very polite and friendly. Sometimes, I would get staff attention and answers, but not always. That's the only reason I have given 2 stars on this rating.

This nursing home/ rehab isn't a good fit for any patient at all. While my mom was there for rehab…read morethey really didn't do anything at all or her. They aides and nurses are very lazy and rude. From the front office all the way back. I keep receiving a bill for my mom and I was told nothing would be in my name at all, needless to say that was the first lie all her bills coming in my name. I didn't sign my name Laurie or Laura did, she didn't spell my name correctly so next time get that right and my address that's call forgery. I told her my name and you assume it was spelled like that I never signed my name to anything, so fix it before you be hearing from my lawyer. The CMA they have there also gave my mom the wrong medicine good thing she asked what it was for and noticed she didn't have all of those problems or else she would have gotten sick or worst , when she noticed she gave her the wrong medicine she came back in and said it was for another patients. Now, they have a picture of each patient up clear as day but you still gave her the wrong medication, I wonder how many time that has happen. I listen to people scream and beg all day for simple thing at this place and they act like these patients are crazy they are not the workers just lazy and don't care. Please take you people somewhere else this place only wants money. When she got out my mom had blood clots in her lungs they wasn't giving her blood clot medicines and a bed sore on her bottom.
