The BEST swamp tour! We took the 4pm small boat tour on a Friday. Captain was terrific. Small airboat goes very fast for a bit and it quite loud but they give you ear protection. Our captain is a Cajun raised in the area and had all kinds of great information to share. We saw alligators and birds. The bayou is amazing. Mosquitoes were barley noticeable. We too the large airboat 2pm on a Monday. Also a good tour and we saw different parts of the bayou but not as good as the small boat. Highly recommend the small boat tour if you can get on. They will pick you up from your hotel for an additional fee. Note the pickup time is a half hour window, you have to be waiting for the whole time as they have many pickups to make. Not a bad deal. On our last day in New Orleans, we wanted to fit in something fun so we decided on doing an alligator swamp tour. We booked through Airboat Adventures with a lady in a Visitor Center while in the French Quarter the day before. The lady was very insightful and helped us choose the best time available but we did have to pay for a portion of the ride that day in cash and were told to pay the rest of the portion the next day, which was the day of the swamp tour. As soon as we arrived at tour location, we paid the remaining portion (we were able to pay with a card) in the main building and was given a wrist band. The main building housed a small gift shop area, the bathrooms and even had a real albino alligator for people to view. As we headed towards the waiting area, we were prompted to take a souvenir picture. The waiting area included a beverage area that offered water, wine and other alcohol beverages. The wait time wasn't long and before we knew it, we were getting on the boat. The swamp tour was so awesome! The tour guide was very informative and gave us specific facts regarding the swamp area which I loved. The best part was actually seeing the alligators!!! We were actually able to see about 5+ alligators on the tour which made it all so worth it. We sat in the front row of the boat and got a little wet so wear clothes that you don't mind getting wet. Also the boat is very loud but thankfully they have noise cancelling headphones on the boat for people to use. After the boat ride, we had the option to purchase the souvenir pictures but we declined. This was definitely a 10/10 experience! I absolutely loved it. read more

DO NOT SUPPORT THIS COMPANY UNTIL THEY RE-HOME THE ALBINO ALLIGATOR IN THEIR GIFT SHOP. It was impossible to fully enjoy seeing the wildlife on the tour happily living their lives in their natural habitat, knowing that when we came back to dock, this beautiful, big white alligator would still be in his sad, empty little concrete pool. It takes up a small corner of the store and is just a very shallow, concrete pond with nothing but him inside. No plants, no logs, no life inside. Just a bit of water on concrete. What is so heartbreaking is that as I've come to leave this review I see the same complaint and pictures of him in the same "enclosure" from SEVEN YEARS ago and maybe later ones I've missed. I hate to imagine how much of his life has been in there. Every reply from the business says that "he needs to remain inside because UV rays can be dangerous for his white skin" - ok - and that "the size of his enclosure is what is recommended by reptile experts for a alligator of his size". I don't know at which year of his life that was true, but it's *certainly* not anymore. But if the size wasn't bad enough, it's the fact that there's absolutely nothing for him to interact with or hide behind that sickens me most. For years. Nothing but concrete. Absolutely abysmal treatment. I suggest boycotting this company until they re-home him with a wildlife sanctuary or zoo or someone who has the ability and decency to provide a better environment and life for this big, beautiful animal. read more

Signed up for an Airboat Adventure swamp tour from one of the tourist info places on Canal Street, and it was worth every penny! I did the 20-person capacity airboat (with no top) and it was a lot of fun. The pickup at my hotel was easy peasy, and after picking up others the ride to the airboat jump off point was about 35 minutes. If you register through a tourist agent, bring your documentation for a quick approval at the site where you'll pay the balance. There are bathrooms inside and a porta pottie outside, and around noon they open up the bar outside with frozen drinks. I did the 10am tour and was glad I did- as the alligators were really active, it was cooler than midday, and I was back at my hotel by 1pm or sooner. Our guide Mike wooed the gators to the boat with marshmallows and hot dogs, and fed a gator a hot dog straight with his bare hands, then gave it a kiss on its snout! Sit at the edge of the boat if you can (I was in the middle and missed some nice photos of alligators off the side of the boat). The swamp is beautiful! We got drenched by a rain storm, bring a cheap rain poncho or buy one at the facility if it's in the forecast. Highly recommend this tour company! read more

Visited on a holiday weekend and it was packed! If you come in the summer bring plenty of drinks and designate one person to go inside and check-in if you are with a party. Everyone can stay cool in the car. The gift shop is where you check-in but it's not big. There was an albino gator inside. Everyone waits at an area by the boat docks for your group to be called. The boat captains are very professional and have hand signals to speak with one another. The air boats are extremely loud and the pontoon boat was perfect. Your ride will differ based on the personality of your Captain. We had a shorter gentlemen with a beard who was phenomenal in explaining the history of the waters and how gators think. I had the best time of my life on this swamp tour. The narrator was knowledgeable and nice as he gave a history of the swamp. There were plenty of big alligators that were in the waters. My wife is obsessed with the television show Naked & Afraid. I decided to mix it up and book an airboat tour through the Louisiana swap. *She's starting to undress when when we board the bus?? I said: Babe, this is only 3 hour tour! haha Even the bus ride was an interactive experience. The bus driver was explaining how the older and smaller levees didn't protect the land better than the new, higher levees closer inland. He pointed out the destructive force of Hurricane Ida changed the landscape which we'll see more of on the tour. Once we board the airboat, its on. The boat is loud and fast, we were taken to spots that you'd only see in the movies. So many beautiful landscapes that's connected to a fragile eco system. Trees still covered in that beautiful Spanish moss. We were told the heavy winds knocked off most of the moss. The tour guide also explained there used to be these caked "mud islands" that were destroyed by Hurricane Ida. Now the guide starts calling the gators over. With marshmallows?!? We have these New York-Italian guy muchin', bone crunchin' swamp things circling the boat! Then, the guide had those gators dancing for him on a stick! This tour was definitely worth the hype! We opted for the large group tour on the bigger boat cause it was cheaper than the speedboats. What I love about this place is that they pick you up from your hotel! The bus driver called to let us know he was on his way. The boat was waaayyyy slower than the others (obviously). Great Fun - Alligators - Informative We have always wanted to go out on an airboat and this was our chance and we took it. It was about a 45 minute drive from New Orleans, but they do have an option to provide transportation to and from wherever you're staying in New Orleans. We chose the Small Airboat Adventure ($180.67, tour cost and credit card fee) for 2 people. Booking was very easy online with available dates and time slots clearly shown. Upon arrival, we entered one building which has the check-in counter, a souvenir shop, restrooms and a live albino alligator. Wrist bands are issued that identify which boat you are to board. The staff then directs you to the waterfront building where you can buy drinks to take onto the boats and stage for boarding. This is a big operation with lots of boats. Boarding is very efficient and the captions get right out on the water after explaining some safety details. Hearing protection is provided and recommended as the engines on these boats are very load. Our tour guide for the adventure was Captain Zack, a young guy who was very personable and shared loads of information about the swamp with us during the tour. The boats are very stable and fast. We headed out across a wide body of water and into a swampy canal. Idling through the canal we saw several birds, incredible cypress trees and plenty of alligators. As this is a regular tour route the gators know to come to the boat when the engine is turned off. The caption gets the alligators to come up out of the water to accept a marshmallow treat. At one point he even kisses one on the nose! We stop at several places in the canals as he shares more information and draws more gators. Then we crank up the speed through the swamp and head back to the dock. Unlike many other tours, there was never a mention made about tipping, but the Capt. appreciates a little something as you exit the boat. I'm not sure if you can request Capt. Zack by name, but try. We knew coming to New Orleans for the first time that we HAD to do a swamp tour! I felt like it was mandatory to spend some time in a bayou while visiting Louisiana. They offer a couple different types of boats you can ride in for 2 hours: airboats and pontoons. Initially, I thought the $60+ pricetag for the airboats was too high, so we went with the $30+ pontoon ride... No matter what, you'll see gators! Next time I would be willing to splurge on an airboat ride, as they hold less people and can go further into some spots of the swamp. But if you're just looking for a fun boat ride and to see some alligators, the pontoon will not disappoint. We definitely saw plenty of gators swimming around, it was awesome! Our guide would feed them marshmallows and they would always stick around our boat. I'm not sure if it was just our luck or only being able to go into certain parts with the pontoon, but we only saw small gators.. I had hoped to see at least one big one! We did get to hold a baby gator while on the boat, which was pretty neat! Even just getting to go out on the boat was fun within itself. The good: I used their shuttle bus from the French Quarter to the swamp, and the driver (Dion) was wonderful. She went above and beyond, and was super friendly. The boat tour itself was interesting and mostly what I expected. The bad: Why is no one talking about the marshmallows in these reviews? They are feeding marshmallows on sticks to alligators and raccoons during the boat tours. Marshmallows. Of all the things to feed wildlife, and they choose marshmallows? The raccoons we saw behaved like little junkies to get their sugar hit (and I don't mean that in a humorous way - it was sad to see). Multiple boats, multiple tour companies in the area.... all doing this. I wish I'd known before I booked the tour. Feeding such junk to wildlife is unacceptable, even illegal, elsewhere. Today we took an airboat ride and it was amazing. Our driver, Mark was funny, informative, and an excellent captain. But wait...there's more. As I boarded the boat, my cellphone slipped from my hand and dropped into the bayou. It dropped like a stone. The ride was great, but I was fuming at my self for doing such stupid thing. So I want you to know that everyone at Air boat adventures went above and beyond. They fished around in the water after we left, found my phone, then contacted us. Then they arranged to have one of their shutttle drivers deliver the phone to us. The entire experience was excellent and we owe Airboat adventures a huge thank you! read more

He pulled a gator out of the swamp.. kissed a gator... took us through what reminded me of the DISNEY, "KISS THE GIRL", part of the swamp. I swear I couldn't stop singing the song in my head. He talked about history, Katrina, gators, old times. Just very informative. He even showed us a big catfish that someone caught on a 2 liter bottle line as we were heading back in. He was so friendly and outgoing, especially when we had interactions with the gators themselves. We booked the small boat tour with shuttle included, which made transportation so easy to and from our hotel. They offer this pick-up option and will pick you up directly from most hotels in New Orleans. Nice and hassle-free. The airboat ride was exhilarating (but warning it can be loud). This was the best part of our trip to Nola!! Our guide (I believe his name was Tiktok, he said "like the app" lol) was amazing. He made the whole thing so much fun from the very moment we stepped on the boat. We did a small boat with 6-8 people. I really think it's worth it to spend the little extra for that because we had such a personalized experience. The bus picked us up right by our hotel and brought us right back. Anyway - it was beautiful. We got to see quite a few gators and even the cutest raccoon (swamp koalas he said they call them haha) who got so close to us. This guy had no fear and he was so up close and personal with these gators! It was awesome. We got to feed them and see them so close. BEWARE!!! I PAID $100 FOR A $60 SWAMP TOUR. While i had no issue with the tour itself, Airboat Adventures partners with a shady company called ACE Travel/Bayou Swamp Tours.com. It is a Florida company that basically just started a website and advertises Swamp Tours around New Orleans. They book the tour and charge you $100. Except Airboat Adventures only charges $60. My Airboat tour for two should have cost $120, but cost $220 w/ taxes. So you pay almost double the price and ACE/Airboat Adventures rip you off and split the money. I have submitted a complaint to the Attorney General of Louisiana for shady business practices. read more
