But Phil was calm and spent time to answer my questions about my battery warning issue. Seems he has nailed the importance of this small but huge aspect of customer psychology. For me, it's this initial contact that usually seals the deal in the decision to take the next step. Felt very comfortable after speaking to Phil that they would take a good look and confirm what I was experiencing with the car. Most people nowadays are reading up on the symptoms with AI, and a good shop imo assumes this interaction. Phil gave me a very reasonable quote and confirmed my hunches were on track. Took the car in first thing in the morning and spoke with a gentleman (maybe the owner) who took my report . No one rushed me, which is key for me. I understand that time is money, but so is trust. For most people, this is won or lost in the first conversation. It's tough because people are just not happy to begin with when they staring down a hefty bill, no matter what usually. EA Service nailed it. Felt totally comfortable the whole time that the car was in good hands, and they did why they said. Period. The price was below the initial estimate which was nice. Phil also did not up-charge me for a battery he ended up getting/needing from the dealer. Extra nice. For a first time experience I was very pleased, and I am pretty skeptical when it comes to shops generally. Compared to other experiences Phil and the shop hit every mark. Extra points for communication, which again is huge. Gave me back a clean car fixed right. Earned my business, and can't say enough about Phil, who if you read the reviews, is clearly a huge factor in the customer experience. Super good guy and communicator. The whole thing just felt right and only good things to say about the shop and experience . Give them a try for sure. Great job guys -- thank you!

Dear potential Clovis Auto Shop customers,…read more I want to share my experience with one of the last truly honest auto shops in the greater Fresno/Clovis area. I live in Clovis, CA, and work as a traveling sales executive, which means my vehicle is essential to my job. I put a lot of miles on my cars and regularly rely on auto shops for both routine maintenance and repairs. That's why I feel confident recommending Clovis Auto Shop. They are an outstanding group of people--friendly, courteous, and straightforward in their communication. I've worked with Manuel, Raul, and the owner, Ron, and every interaction has been positive. Whether it's basic services like oil changes or more advanced work such as engine or transmission repairs, they consistently deliver high-quality service. What truly sets them apart, however, is their honesty and integrity. On several occasions, they have gone above and beyond in ways that many shops simply wouldn't. For example, I recently brought in my Ford Expedition because it wouldn't start. Initially, the issue was misdiagnosed, and an expensive engine procedure was performed. Once they realized the mistake, they immediately informed me and did not charge me for the unnecessary work. My bill dropped from nearly $1,000 to about $264. That level of honesty is rare--they could have easily charged me, and I would never have known. In the end, they correctly fixed the issue, and my car has been running perfectly. Another instance happened a few years ago with a different vehicle. Clovis Auto Shop installed a Jasper rebuilt engine with a 4-year/40,000-mile warranty. The engine failed early in the fourth year, even though the mileage was still low. Both the shop and I felt this was unusually premature. Instead of leaving me to deal with it on my own, they advocated on my behalf with Jasper and secured a very favorable deal on a replacement engine. They could have simply said "tough luck," but they didn't. Experiences like these are why I consider Clovis Auto Shop to be one of the most honest and reliable shops around. I recommend them without hesitation. For full transparency, I have no family or friends who own or work at the shop--I'm simply a loyal customer who appreciates great service. Thank you. Lou Gonzalez Clovis, CA

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel obligated to share our experience so others can make an…read moreinformed decision. We brought my daughter's 2014 Ford Focus to this shop because it would not start. After their inspection, we were given an estimate and authorized the repairs they said were necessary. During the process, we were then informed that the clutch also needed to be repaired, which significantly increased the cost. Although this wasn't part of the original estimate, we agreed because we wanted the vehicle repaired correctly and trusted their professional diagnosis. By the time everything they recommended was completed, we had spent approximately $3,700. Unfortunately, after all of those repairs, the vehicle still was not operating properly. We then had the car towed back to the shop because the original problem had not truly been resolved. At that point, we were told the issue was actually the fuel pump. This was incredibly frustrating because after spending thousands of dollars based on their recommendations, another major repair was suddenly needed. It left us questioning whether a thorough diagnostic had been performed in the first place. As a customer, I understand that older vehicles can develop multiple problems. However, when a shop performs a diagnostic and recommends thousands of dollars in repairs, I expect those recommendations to be based on a complete and accurate assessment. Instead, it felt like we addressed one expensive issue after another without ever getting to the root cause. I reached out to the owner in writing, hoping we could have a productive conversation and work toward a reasonable resolution. While I appreciate that they did respond, I was extremely disappointed that there was no acknowledgment of the financial burden this created and no offer of any reimbursement, credit, or goodwill adjustment after we had invested so much money and still ended up with a vehicle that was not repaired. Ultimately, we made the difficult decision not to move forward with the additional fuel pump repair because we had already invested more into the vehicle than it was worth. I encourage anyone considering this shop to ask detailed questions about the diagnostic process, request in detailed writing all testing that has been done.

The trust and peace of mind this shop has given me keeps me coming back, not only for repairs but also for my regular maintenance.

WARNING!!! I highly recommend people think twice before…read moreusing this auto shop. I initially brought my car to get the brakes checked out, they were squeaking and also the check-engine light was on. We paid for the diagnostics check and their initial diagnosis showed a small leak involving the purge valve and the motor mounts were bad. I agreed to have the brakes and motor mounts replaced the same day, which I still believe the motor mounts were still ok. The very next day, the brake warning light came on so I immediately contacted the shop and brought the car back. They then discovered that they had ordered the wrong brakes. During the second visit working on the brakes, we had them do a smoke test also to look for the small leak, which we paid for, they told me there was no leak anywhere to be found and everything was fine. I don't know why but they took it upon themselves to start looking for other problems they could find with the vehicle. With no authorization from us. Apparently, they were testing modules under the drivers' seat and not telling what else because they told me the seat had to be removed to test them properly. They also blew a fuse. I had to get back to work after 3 hours of waiting. As I was about to drive away, I had trouble. The car would not go in reverse or forward, finally it jumped into reverse which worried me and then I switched it to forward and it did the same thing just jerking back and forth and all the warning lights came on the dashboard. I immediately called the shop and returned the vehicle to get looked at, I was then told that I had a bad alternator and that the vehicle cannot be driven, that I would have to have it towed home or leave it overnight. Now I am really doubting this business, because I had just gotten back from the bay area and I had no problems whatsoever. Only now after they messed up the control modules and they didn't even bolt the module box back on. Third visit. I got the alternator replaced, and later that day the engine light came on warning about worn brake pads, Unbelievable. So, I made another appointment to look at the brake problem. Fourth visit. I was told there was a bad sensor either pinched or rubbing against something. So, as they were fixing the brakes they did another smoke test to find the engine light problem. This time it is a charcoal canister leak. At this point, I decided I was done bringing my vehicle back. I have spent nearly $4,000 at this shop, and I originally went in for a squeezing brake and a check-engine light that initially showed a small purge-valve leak. After all the repairs and charges, the fourth diagnosis was still essentially the same as the first diagnosis I received when I initially brought my vehicle in. Despite paying for multiple diagnostics and repairs, my vehicle still has the check engine light on. This is especially concerning because I was charged for repairs based on the diagnoses provided, yet the original problem has not been resolved. I do not recommend this shop based on my experience.
