Wow. I got yelp to literally review this -I don't even know where to begin…read more Several months ago I ordered one piece of wood successfully on the Menards website. I got to the store and after dealing with three different incompetent employees, they couldn't find it -so I told them to just cancel the order. They said they couldn't do it at the lumberyard and sent me to the front. The cashier told me I can cancel it but I would be charged for restocking fee ( mind you this is the product THEY lost somewhere and I literally never had). I asked to talk to the manager who told me it's too bad and I can call corporate because it's their system. FYI- you can't call corporate. Had to make a whole scene. I then walked and tried to order siding only to have to explain to their workers how to use their own website. They were looking at an entirely wrong product on the website and I had to show them how to navigate to the correct one. I'll save you some time- just look online. Dont talk to their unhelpful employees It's quicker, if that's all they're gonna do. What a waste of time. I then went to the paint counter in hopes to get exterior paint. I quickly talked with the worker and asked which exterior paints were best, and he just pointed to each of the ones and said "well this one says it's exterior." ... thank you I can read. Again short and rude and unhelpful. I told him I was wanting to order sample. I looked around for a while, and then when I went to actually get it, he said "oh we don't have exterior paint samples." Lead with that. It was my fault that I gave them one last shot in ordering siding. I successfully ordered it online, waited three weeks, and got a email notification that it was ready to be picked up. Sent my spouse to go get it, and guess what, another fiasco. This order also couldn't be located by the employees and apparently didn't come in and had been mislabeled. They had five other pieces of it and tried to say that was our order (I had ordered 11 pieces...) Honestly, I don't want to make this review too long, but essentially he had to fight that it was the wrong item, they wanted to charge him restocking fees. When he went out to the car to call me and ask my opinion and went back in to go ahead and buy the 5 pieces they had they wouldn't let him because "they already cancelled it". What a mess. Incompetence is one thing but the customer service is horrendous. They should be embarrassed. Run do not walk away from this Menards. Yes Their products are fine, but there is no "corporate" you can call so they can just be jerks, and unhelpful, with no repercussions. Unless you want to be charged for horrible service and being talked down to, do not go near this Menards.

Though it seems all good now, there were a few call outs…read more Our order was processed through their Muskogee, OK branch. The order: Took a while for delivery/installation (to be expected during this pandemic). The original salesman told us it would be about two weeks. Think we actually got our carport on week 5. The installation: The crew was fast and efficient though they made a mistake and tried to patch a hole in the metal or the metal was defective to begin with. Regardless, they sent a repairman. The repair: I reported the patched hole and went through quite an arduous repair request process and they came back about a month later to repair. Actually on the 4th of July after missing their scheduled time the day before. The repairman left 6 screws laying in our driveway. Fortunately, I found them before our tires did. The billing: Paid 10% deposit on the day of our order. (May 1st), paid the balance on the day of installation (June 9th) via personal check. My check was processed on June 16th. A few days after installation I received a call requesting final payment to which I replied had been paid by personal check on the day of delivery/installation. Then I received 2 emails requesting final payment, the last request was July 14th. I sent them a copy of the cancelled check and exchanged a few emails to get a final statement as they claimed they had lost the payment. That was a bit of a headache. Fortunately, I keep good records and provided the information and now have a final statement showing payment in full. If you choose to use All Steel Carports, I would advise keeping good records as it doesn't seem they do! Final verdict: Not sure if we will do business with them again as we are planning on another carport purchase on the other side of our property. Seemed like a lot of hassle to go through.

That would be 4 months for an 8 week promise. After 4 months I call back. The company they contracted with went out of business and they 're-assigned' my contract. I tried to get my deposit back but was denied. FINALLY, after waiting 5 months, my carport wad delivered and installed. I'm really glad we didn't have another hail storm in the interim otherwise I would have been REALLY P-Oed.

While the subcontractors they use are skilled and professional, the management side of the company caused repeated delays and unnecessary frustration. The biggest problem was working with Tony Land, the "superintendent" . In my experience, he showed no urgency, rarely communicated, did not follow up on open items, and barely visited the job site to check progress. Even the subcontractors expressed frustration because they were often left waiting without direction or scheduling. Several items still needed attention, and there was zero communication about when they would be addressed. Oversight from his supervisor, Nate, started off responsive but quickly faded. Once the project was underway, accountability seemed nonexistent. It felt like, after signing the contract, timelines no longer mattered. The office staff also seemed more focused on payment releases than ensuring work was completed before requesting funds. Communication from the office matched the same lack of urgency. On the positive side, Jeff Elliot in sales was great to work with--professional, responsive, and helpful. And again, the subcontractors themselves did excellent work when they were actually scheduled. The only reason my project finished in six months was because I lived on the property and stayed persistent, constantly pushing for updates and questioning delays. If you are not able to be on‑site or stay heavily involved, expect the project to take much longer.

A few weeks ago, I reached out to Scott Hess at TK Constructors to inquire about building a home in Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Scott was pleasant and professional during our initial interaction, and he promptly followed up with information about their homes and building process via email. He also responded to my initial reply. However, after that exchange, I stopped hearing from him. In my reply, I had mentioned that there didn't seem to be many available home lots in Lafayette and asked if there was someone else I could speak with about building in another part of Indiana. Unfortunately, Scott did not respond. I followed up with a voicemail, but again received no reply. In the meantime, I reached out to one of his colleagues in Ohio, who was very helpful and professional. I let that person know I had been in contact with Scott, as we were still considering Indiana for our retirement home. I mention this only because I don't know if it may have had some bearing on the lack of follow-up from Scott. Regardless, I made another attempt to reach out to Scott via email, but still received no response. I don't know what happened, but I find this lack of communication unprofessional. If you've had--or are currently having--a similar experience with this builder, I encourage you to share your story. It raises the question of whether this company selectively chooses who they're willing to build homes for, which would be concerning.
