I would NOT recommend Air King Inc. based on my recent experience. They installed an Ecobee thermostat at my home on 11/17/25. My furnace was working before they touched it. During the installation, the technician claimed the system was working, but I never heard the furnace turn on, and he stood there waiting for it to start before leaving. I didn't need heat until 11/26/25, and the very first time I tried to use it after their installation, my furnace wouldn't turn on at all. Air King told me the control board was bad, but the furnace stopped working immediately after they messed with the wiring -- not before. The biggest issue is that the company refused to take responsibility for anything that happened right after their work. Based on how this situation was handled, I personally would not trust or recommend this company for any thermostat or furnace work. terrible waste of time, rude phone service - scheduled a week in advance and then again a few days in advance and they flat out never showed up and STEPHANIE specifically was terrible with customer service and argued with me verbally on the phone rather than trying to help correct the mistake and refused to answer my inquiries further. It's pretty clear they ignored our REQUIRED scheduled appointment and were absolutely shameless about it - after years of being a loyal customer I'm more than happy to take my hard earned money elsewhere and tell everyone I know not to trust or use your services. read more

We've used Air King twice and have been very pleased with the professionalism of the folks we've interacted with be they on the phone or maintaining our home's HVAC. We recently bought our home and have been working on catching up on several decades of it being neglected due to being a rental for many years and the folks at Air King did a safety check on it and did such a great job we just had them come out and clean the ductwork which was filthy. These people are so fast and reliable. I needed a new heater, air conditioner, new duct work. It works like a charm and lowered my heating bill! That A/C is huge! We noticed our a/c was out on our second floor. We called Air King first thing the next morning and they were out by 2PM that day. Jeremy from Air King showed up and found the problem and fixed it in just a few minutes. Not only did he fix our problem, he went through the whole system and explained what things were, how they worked, what to look out for, and how to maintain our unit. I recently used Air King to install a new furnace and air conditioner in my dental office. The salesman who helped us, Steve, was really informative. He knew his stuff! As soon as the contractor was ready, Air King sent out some installers. They were friendly and professional. Because we were renovating a 100 year old building, we had all of the duct work replaced, which was a big job, but they handled it without a problem. Everything has been working beautifully with no hiccups. And, our unit came with a warranty, should we need it. We were so happy with their service that we also asked Steve to send someone to install humidifiers at that new office and at another dental office that my husband and I own. Once again, a friendly man (Brian, I think?) came and installed the humidifiers. Most importantly, he left absolutely no mess behind. I would definitely recommend Air King to a friend! Prices were on par with other bids we had gotten, and this is obviously a company that has been around for some time and employs knowledgeable people. read more

This company was excellent and treated us great. We dealt with Steve II who answered all our questions and came out to give us a quote. The price was right and they deal with american standard equipment which i read nice reviews about it.We had no AC they were here within 6 days to install a new AC unit ,we also got a great variable 2 stage furnace put in. The techs that came were very polite and professional.They had it done in 1/2 a day. Air king really took care of us and we our enjoying our nice cool home because of them.If your looking for a excellent company this is the place to call. read more

My parents, aged 91 and 85, had their AC go out during one of the hottest weeks of the summer. Mom is on oxygen. We called Air King in Decatur IL and they came out that day to provide an estimate and said it would be 10 days. When my sister explained the situation about their age and medical issues, they busted it to get parts and fixed it 3 days later, first thing that morning. Our central A/C has never really worked right since it was installed a couple of years ago (by another company, not Air King). With the unusually warm pre-spring, we thought we should have some professionals come take a look at it and see if they could tell us what's wrong. We called Air King based on the recommendations of a friend. They sent someone right out (that day). The service man was, well, grouchy. He expressed that they have been very busy for this time of year, and they were under a lot of pressure. Okay, I get that, but that's not really my problem. We explained our problem, and asked if he could look at it and let us know an estimate for repair. Unfortunately, other than the outdoor A/C unit, all of the "guts" are in our cellar. He had to go down into the cellar to look at things. This did NOT make him happy - "old knees, narrow stairs, grumble, grumble". Again, I understand, but if the person we spoke to on the phone to set the appointment had ASKED, we would have gladly explained the situation and they could have possibly sent someone else. Regardless, as an HVAC repair person, he should be used to getting into strange places. So he's in the cellar for awhile. He comes up and says that there was a bolt simply loose. He tightened it, added more coolant, and the total comes to $148.00. Um, okay, that doesn't seem unreasonable, but we asked for an *estimate* not repair. But whatever, it's fixed (hopefully!) and the house is nice and cool. Here's the cherry - he said that if we have any more problems, not to call Air King back, but to call someone who actually works on our brand of A/C. Again, I understand what he's saying - a manufacturers rep may better know the equipment, but it really came across as "Don't bother me anymore." Negative stars for the poor customer service, but in the end, the job was done. read more

My best advice is to avoid this company unless you like to throw away money. My home inspector found cracks in both furnaces of the home I recently purchased. However, I needed to have a certified HVAC tech confirm the inspector's findings. Long story short - Air King sent out two technicians and supposedly spent 2 hours cleaning and inspecting the heat exchanges (despite them only being called to confirm cracks). Their Tech only found a crack on one of the heat exchanges despite me providing the company with detailed locations of the cracks and pictures. They then sent out another tech who also couldn't find the crack in the second furnace. I then called a reputable heating and air conditioning company and their tech found the cracks within 5 minutes. The sellers also called in a third company who found the cracks. So I'm stuck with a $78 bill to pay for incompetent techs. Avoid this company at all costs, I wish someone had written a review before to prevent me from such a waste of time and money. They spend lots of money on advertising because their quality of work doesn't bring in business. read more

My 90 year old mother called Air King to look at her air conditioner in the spring. The service tech said it looked good but getting old. A month later when she went to turn it on it would not cool her place down and ran constantly. They came back out and told her she needed a new air conditioner so she purchased a new one on top of the service call she paid. Again, it ran constantly and did not cool her place down. Turns out it was her thermostat. The new air conditioner not even a month later has also quit working in dangerously high temps. They said they could put in the part on Monday because it was Saturday. It was too dangerous to leave her in her place so she had to leave home for those 2 days. Would not recommend this company! read more
