Last minute trip to Hilo on 11/12/11. Every major car rental has nothing available. *Light goes on* OHA's newspaper, Ka Wai Ola, had an ad for Aiona Car Rental! Bingo!!!! Car available for our one day trip at a competitive price. We arrived early and my husband had training shortly after the arrival so I got dropped off at Prince Kuhio Shopping Center and hung out until 9a when Aiona's opened. I started walking over and buckets of rain started falling so I ditched into Walmart and called Aiona's (needed to tell them I was on my way...please don't give me car away!) and that I was walking and be over as soon as I could. The friendly young man asked me where I was and said he'd be right over to pick me up. WHOA! How's that?!?!?! I was floored and utterly relieved that I wouldn't need to trek in the rain. The car was clean, looked pretty close to new, ran well, and we blended in with the Hiloans. The whole car rental experience was excellent; from the extra service on the front end to the extra service on the return (Aiona's is closed on Sunday, the day we were leaving). We will certainly be recommending Aiona's not to mention using them again on our next few trips to Hilo! Thank you, Aiona's!! Service at it's finest! Note on the car return: Aiona's is closed on Sunday so we prearranged with them to park the car in the airport parking and lock the keys and the parking ticket in the glove box. Aiona Car Rental really helped me out in a pinch. Had to come up to Hilo for last minute trip and Rental Manager, Myra was awesome. I called every car rental company in Hilo and no cars were available. Myra responded very quickly and was so helpful. My flight was landing a little before they were open, but she said, "I'm usually in early so just give me a call." Eric picked us up promptly and he was very helpful and friendly too. Our return was right when their office was closing and she offered to take us to the airport. We were running a few minutes late and she followed us to the drop off lot and still took us to the airport! I really appreciated her going out of her way to take us after she was done with work. We needed to rent a car in Hilo. Carmen picked us up at the airport, took us to the lot about 2 miles away, rented us a nice large toyota and we were on our way to hike volcano's for the weekend. The rates were way cheaper than anything you would get from the big boys at the airport we didn't have to hassle with all those extra fees. When we were due to return the car she called us in the morning to find out when we would be back so she could be there to drive us back to the airport. Super nice, no hassles, no renter's apprehension, no bull. Aiona was recommended to us from a friend in Oahu. This was our experience and if everyone else in the company is like Carmen then its a good outfit to deal with. read more

I am extremely happy about my recent visit to Aiona. I took the significant other there and we left that day with a brand new Chevy Malibu. He has never been so excited to have a new car. Its been about 3 months since purchase date and no problems with the car. Just had it serviced under warranty for the oil change and tire rotation. These guys were very straight and to the point. Honest. I got a good deal/honest kbb valued deal on a 05 Honda CR-V. However, I bought the vehicle on a Friday, drove it during the weekend, and by Sunday evening, the radiator had a crack in it. I believe the mechanics never topped off or check the radiator fluid. I then called Aiona and told them what happened. They had me come in the next day to replace the radiator and fluid free of charge, even though the car I bought was sold "as is" and with no warranty. My boyfriend and I visited the Big Island over Christmas and had trouble finding a rental car until we got in touch with Myra at Aiona Cars who was great! She came in on Christmas morning when we arrived and gave us a nice Honda Accord for a great price. When we left on Sunday we dropped off the car and she gave us a ride to the airport even though they aren't usually open on Sunday. They are quick to take your money then leave you hanging when problems occur with your purchase. No better then thieves in my opinion and these guys will take much more from you including your priceless time. Our rental came with cockroaches that would get into groceries so we could not use the car to carry food. The brake fluid was low putting our lives at risk. The air pressure in tires was low, again risking our safety and causing inconveniences. By far worst of all our battery died on us in a remote location and left us stranded... After our patience had been pushed to the max we tried to contact the representatives for assistance and they could not be found anywhere. No phones were answered or even had voice mails; this seemed very suspicious as if they took the money and ran! considering this is a family business you'd think someone in the linage would step up and be responsible for the family name, however nepotism usually leads to lack of quality standards so I'm not surprised by this behavior either. As a side note I was recovering from being hit by a car with two broken legs a knee and pelvis. I was counting on this vehicle to help me get errands taken care of instead this just made my life more difficult... do yourself a favor and take the time to look elsewhere. read more

My husband bought a vehicle from them in Dec 2011. At first everything was going great. Then the salesman lost our spare key and wanted us to pay for the re keying of the vehicle. I told them it was their fault and they should pay for it. Also we didn't get the registration for the vehicle till March 2012. When I questioned the salesman, his response was, I don't hand titles, I'm just a salesman. I have both cars from other dealerships and the salesman also helped me out with what ever problems or concerns we had. They never made me feel like, I sold you a car, got paid now don't bother me. This is exactly how Shaun made us feel. Pat Jr. Had to step in and help us. When Pat finally took care of us, everything was handled in a timely matter. We got our spare key and our registration. I wouldn't say I won't do business with Aiona again, but I will say I won't do business with Shaun again. read more

We were going on a last minute trip to Hilo, we tried to book a rental car through the main sites but everyone was sold out. Our hotel recommended Aiona car sales to book a rental car. We took the last car they had. Everything was great, until we returned it. During our trip, a rock flew up and hit the windshield. It was a crack less than the size of a quarter. They told us, no big deal because of the size they could repair it no charge but we gave them our insurance info just in case. Within 24 hours, they reported it to our insurance without trying to repair it. $500 later, we won't be going back. I'd rather have stuck with a moped. Don't rent from them!! read more
