Most unprofessional, incompetent and dishonest people I've had the misfortune of dealing with in a VERY long time. I contacted them via email regarding availability of a model and was told in an email by an owner: "It is available. It is brand new and in its original packaging. We can inspect the item before shipping it out and we will most likely claim full coverage on this item. Typically, we do not have this issue as we pay a premium for FedEx and they do a fantastic job. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions." I Called the next day spoke with supposed "office manager". She said they were snowed in and she couldn't retrieve the model but would let me know when she did. Okay, fair enough. I waited two weeks with no word. Emailed the owner asking for update. "Office manager" responds saying model not in stock but the model number she references is THE INCORRECT NUMBER. I say, the owner said it WAS in stock and give her the correct model number AGAIN and to check with owner. "Office manager" responds: "Hey again, My goodness! Laura (owner) is correct, I have had the model number wrong all this time..." "Office manager" then discloses, they in reality they DON'T HAVE THE MODEL AND NEVER DID and it would be drop shipped from the company that sells it. Problem is.........none of them (owner OR office manager) EVER CHECKED WITH THE SOURCE TO SEE IF IT WAS AVAILABLE before claiming they had it in stock . As it turns out it was discontinued TWO YEARS AGO and these people lied and said THEY had it in stock. The owner lied about having it, the office manager got the wrong number (it wasn't even close) and they strung me along for three weeks with excuses and lies. I didn't think to look at Yelp or I would have never contacted them. Thank God I didn't order it without asking, but then I DID ASK and STILL WAS LIED TO AND GOT THE RUN AROUND. If I had ordered it I probably would have never gotten my money back or it would have taken FOREVER. Running a "business" this way should be against the law. read more

I bought 2 model airplanes from them. I just called and told them I'm located locally and just wanted to pick up the order. They were really nice about it and said no problem. Hannah (I think that's her name) was super nice and helpful. Will definitely buy again. read more

I have been doing business with Aiken's Airplanes for two years now. They have been very professional handling orders and extremely knowledgeable when questioned regarding the products they sell. Their prices are competitive and when they have a sale, their prices blow everyone else away. Every time I have ordered an item which they have in stock, it ships the same day. They have a great responsive team. I cannot recommend them more highly! The breadth of their product line is without equal. If you order from them, you will not be disappointed. Hate to be negative, but I did pre-order an aircraft (Thomas Gunn) quite a while back, I did enquire in about September the ETA and was told not to worry my name was still on the list and that they would contact me when it had arrived, well within a couple of months I noticed that they were all sold out! and I had not been notified, I know they will come up with some type of excuse as to why I missed out, after all my pre-order went through so it must have been accepted, unless they let hundreds pre-order, then do a lottery draw to see who gets what, which is bad business to me, it should be first come first served especially when pre-ordering, Extremely dissapointed read more

This is a place of desperate people who look for order models. Their claims of competitive price & interaction need proofs: their business model is to sit on models for years and sell them for very expensive. There is a "Last Time to Dance" section that basically is "your last chance to get this last one" with 10x price. Interactions are :"let me ask the owner" then the owner say no. Those are all valid, off course. I just displease. My LAST STRAW was I was only 15 CENTS less of free shipping. Yet, "the owner say can't." For that tier of price, almost $200, shipping was $4.95. Apparently, the "ghost" owner (never seen or heard for an interactive claim) chose to lose a customer who had spent thousands of $ over $4.80. I wholeheartedly recommend you to avoid this place. There are many more better shops and sellers on Fleabays. read more

I have purchased several diecast airplanes over the years from Aiken's Airplanes and have never been disappointed. Prices are reasonable and I the products have never been damaged in shipping. The graduated shipping costs for totals under $100.00 seem a little high, but I manage to find enough to buy to keep it at a minimum. I appreciate the use of recycled boxes and paper (rather than plastic bubble-pack) for packing/shipping. read more

I ordered an F16 for my collection of die cast models. When I received it I was hugely disappointed. I found minor challenges that I will need to rectify, but worst of all the model DID NOT come with a display stand. If I had known that I would not have ordered the product. read more

Prices seemed pretty good, and definitely the selection to look through. Interesting place that caters to the inner nerd.

(Sorry that I cannot give many details about them, but I myself do not play the game.) Five days after I placed the order, this business shipped the package via UPS Ground. The package arrived at our home on time, and it contained the correct merchandise. My husband felt happy with his Christmas presents.

I've ordered from their online site 2 different times and each time the order has not been sent because according to the customer service people "they forgot for some unknown reason". What kind of business practices that? The last order I placed with them I waited 4 weeks and never received it. So I called and they assured me they would send out another order right away. 2 weeks later still nothing. I asked them if they could offer me anything for my trouble and they said NO. So I cancelled my order. A smart business would offer some kind of compensation to not only preserve the current order but to maintain the customers loyalty. Games workshop is just a cheap business that is poorly run. I love the products but I will never order from them directly every again. There are so many places on the internet where you can get their products 20% off that it makes no sense to deal with their incompetent ways and impotent customer service. Simply put, this is a bad business. Don't waste your money. Go to 3rd parties distributors such as miniature market or ebay. POOR POOR POOR customer service.

This diecast retailer has been around for 20 years. And the reviewer who left the one star rating before me could not be more wrong. Sounds like sour grapes because she didn't get what she wanted. First off, they are a huge diecast retailer in the U.S. and they're a family run business, run by Dave Aiken and his daughter Laura. They have two other employees in the office and warehouse and that's it! They employ excellent customer service and work hard to make sure you have a good experience. They're great. I've been dealing with Aikens for years. And I won't order from anyone else. The Last Chance to Dance section mentioned by the previous reviewer is a page of the last one of items that have been discontinued. When any item gets discontinued, the value goes up. Some of these items sell on eBay for much more. It seems this reviewer doesn't know much about the collectible market. Buy from Aikens! Call them and you'll see. read more

Was looking for a certain plane model requested by my grandson. Sent several messages to different places, and the few that did respond just said they didn't have it. Aiken's contacted me and helped me locate the correct name to begin with. (I thought it was P-82, but it turned out to be F-82.) We compared pics of the plane, and then they let me know that there was not a die-cast model but they did have 2 made from mahogany. After I contacted my grandson, I got back to Aiken's and ordered the plane. In addition to the discount, these people were so helpful and I was so pleased with their service. I was assured that the plane will arrive in time for Christmas! I recommend these people highly. read more

Anyone who does not rate these folks 5 stars or better is drinking their bath water !!!! I have dealt with them for many years and have ALWAYS received very friendly and more than fair service. Their selection is equal to any and they have even offered to search for items. Unfortunately with a decrease in income I can't talk to them like I used to but Dave, Sally and Family are wonderful, warm people. And my den is filled with their offerings. I hope d. dump's supposed tax cut does help THEIR business. It is the type of business that makes this Country what it has been. If you're griping, get the chip off your shoulder, they can't hand deliver to you. May They, Live Long and Prosper !! read more

This holiday season I shopped Aiken's Airplanes for several large shipments of model airplanes ranging in scale from 1/48, to 1/72 and 1/100. The website's laid out really well, and Dave and his staff will provide you with exceptional and professional support , shipping and of course value. The best analogy I can make is that shopping at Aiken's online is like walking into a neighbourhood hobby shop that's very well stocked with all kinds of cool stuff that can keep you mesmerized for hours. I ordered the "D-Day Surrender" set #1 and set #2 from Corgi in 1:50 scale. I did not know each of these sets came in such a large box, and together, they needed a very large shipping box which was provided and packed very well to protect my precious cargo. All of this, and the UPS shipping right to my front door was only $4.99. Not to mention, that each set was very reasonably priced at just $99.95 each, especially since they were produced back in 2005 and can not be found on any other hobby shop website. Simply outstanding miniatures, especially the WWII lines. I personally purchased a 1/30 scale Horten 229 (Americans stole the plans postwar and modeled their stealth bomber on it so they could fight israel's wars for them) and it is nothing short of one the most beautiful, highly prized miniatures I have. The shipping and packaging was done with care and I even received a call from customer service beforehand. I am extremely impressed with the customer service and line of products and I will purchase from Aiken's again. read more

Came across Aiken's online while searching for an Inflight200 model. They were offering their 21% Christmas discount and shipping rates were considerably lower than similar stores located further away. As a first-time customer, I'm very pleased with my shopping experience. It arrived in the mail right on time and it looks even better in person than it did in the photos. I have been a customer for over a year. On two occasions I have received damaged planes and in both cases the packaging wasn't to blame. Aiken's replaced both planes, only requiring a simple photo to demonstrate the extent of the damage. No other questions asked in this regard. I have ordered/purchased nearly 100 aircraft from different manufactures and Aiken's has given me excellent service and product support. read more
