Oakley did a great job with insurances, physician referrals, measuring, installation, etc. But, right from the beginning, we had problems with our lift and the batteries to run the lift. It was only a few weeks later when we called Oakley since the lift stopped working. They came back and replaced the batteries since they were drained. One of the techs mentioned something about the batteries they have been installing have been doing this a lot which made me think, "then why are you installing them in a brand new lift?" Well the batttery issue has happened several more times. Each time it costs $175 for a service call. Twice we opted for the $450 annual maintenance fee. In 2023 p, the way the office rep explained the fees, we figured it was worth the $450 to have the 2 new batteries installed and the lift checked out rather than $175 just for the service call and the added charge of two new batteries. This March Oakley was called since the lift again was acting strangely and making weird noises and stopping midway and moving slowly, etc. On March 3, 2025, two technicians arrived and spent a total of 20-25 minutes performing maintenance and said they installed two new batteries. Yesterday, April 3, 2025 the lift was again misbehaving as it did one month ago. I spoke to the technician who said it sounded like the battery was low (already???) Today they called and told me the service charge was $175 to come out to the house! Seriously! One month later the new batteries are dead! I made my feelings known that this was unacceptable, and yes, I wanted them to check with the manager. They left a voicemail for me. It will cost $175 for the service call-since that is their policy. Besides being bad customer relations, it is down-right wrong since the problem we paid $450 to fix one month ago is happening again! I guess they do not care about helping paid customers who have handicapped mobility issues. The maintenance fee is totally not worth it since it isn't an annual maintenance agreement. It is only a checkup, like when you take your car for an oil change and they do the FREE 10 point inspection. Only this was $450! Now they want another $175 one month later come to the house (which is 5 miles away) to possibly replace the batteries! And I have a feeling the batteries are recharged batteries and not new ones. Otherwise, they are defective batteries and the customer shouldn't have to pay for this. I lost trust in Oakley. It is very disappointing for a local company to treat people in the community this way...and they do not realize that "word of mouth" means a lot in the south county community.
