This could be someone's dream, but not mine! Beautiful, sparkling clean interior and friendly…read morestaff, but the treatment room was HOT! I had assumed the treatment would take place in a chair with my head tilted back in a sink, like when your hair is washed before a cut, but instead, I had to lie back on a bed, completely flat. Since I had the touch of a cold, this was uncomfortable, as it was hard for me to breathe, and like I said before, it was HOT, and then I got very thirsty, but my masseuse was up to her elbows in suds so I didn't want to interrupt her to ask for a drink. This became a case of "water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink" as the sound of water all around me made me thirstier than ever. Everything the masseuse did felt good - the head massage, face massage, shoulder massage, various hair washing techniques and some other surprises. I did not enjoy the jarring effect of having to stare at myself in the very brightly lit mirror at the end of the treatment while the masseuse wrangled my hard to manage hair into a "style" of sorts. I understand that they can't just send you into the cold evening with wet hair, but she was not a hair stylist, so I went out looking worse than I came in (which seemed impossible to achieve but was actually true). My daughter, who had the same treatment at the same time as me, loved it. So, obviously not for everyone, but maybe good for some!

A really lovely spot for head spa and other amenities. I felt very relaxed after my two service…read moreexperience. The water nose for the head spa (the tap) is a little loud after you are soothed by the head massage, perhaps they can buy quieter taps to add to the ambiance. I don't know if they asked about male/female masseuse preference when my sister set up the appointment but I felt bad turning someone down on my mom's behalf. Loved getting my hair dried with a Dyson afters there are snacks and hot tea as well. Changing room has two bathrooms and 3 rooms in addition to locker space. The shoes could also be smaller if possible! A bit of a tripping hazard.

I don't usually write reviews--but this experience deserves one…read more I've had thin hair my entire life--especially on the sides and the middle of my head. I learned how to manage it, hide it, and work around it. For 15 years I wore locs and kept my look simple. But over time, my hair started thinning in a way I couldn't ignore. And I'm not guessing--I have two forms of alopecia. So I'm very clear on what works and what doesn't. I've seen all the products, all the promises. As Black women, we're often sold hope in a bottle--but with certain forms of alopecia, the follicles are not coming back. That's just the truth. I made a decision years ago that I wouldn't live with patchy, uneven hair. So I shaved it off. I told myself I was okay with it--but I wasn't. I adjusted, I covered, I made it work--but my confidence was slipping. Every barber visit felt like a waste because my scalp showed so much. Then in February 2026, two different friends--who don't even know each other--sent me the same TikTok. I paid attention. I saw a transformation that looked real. That led me to Gio at The Scalp Shop. From the moment I walked in, the experience felt different. Kat was incredibly supportive--calm, welcoming, and present. And Gio? He gets it--especially for Black women navigating hair loss. He didn't try to sell me anything. He took the time to understand my hair, my history, and what I was trying to achieve. He walked me through the process and approached it with care and precision--stroke by stroke. You can tell this is more than a service for him. It's a craft. The result is hard to put into words. I feel free. For the first time in years, I'm not thinking about my hair. I'm not covering, adjusting, or second-guessing how I look. I feel like myself again. I told my husband--I got something back. If you're considering this, I would absolutely recommend Gio and The Scalp Shop. It's worth the investment. This experience gave me more than a look--it gave me my confidence back, and that's priceless.

I was nervous before getting SMP, but it came out way better than I expected. My hairline looks…read moreclean but still natural, not like it's drawn on. The front was a little itchy during healing, but that's normal, and once you get past that stage, it looks fire. It really frames my face better and just makes everything look more put together. I'd 100% do it again. Kat is amazing
