Our family has had such good luck with the mental health practitioners at Ahava. Each of my kids has had therapy/psychopharmacology (with Marie Rommage and Shmuel Bieler) and they are both so kind, attentive, helpful and responsive. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with them. We have never had a bad experience. Even the receptionist from the front desk is warm and kind when she calls to confirm our appointments. I have to get her name and I'll update. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt I needed to warn others about this place. My experience at Ahava was incredibly disappointing. Felix was unprofessional and often rude. There were moments where his behavior felt targeted and made me -- and others -- feel really uncomfortable, especially as a person of color. Marina also left a bad impression. She was cold, dismissive, and honestly didn't seem to care at all about providing basic care or support. I often felt ignored and like I was just a burden. Between the lack of compassion, poor communication, and the overall toxic environment, I can't in good conscience recommend this facility to anyone. Prepare for at least an hour and a half of waiting. They schedule two visits every 15 minutes, but each visit lasts around 30 minutes.

Dr. Hoch is so thorough, friendly and kind. You can tell he really cares about his patients and coworkers. He called multiple pharmacies to make sure my insurance would cover what he prescribed to me, and was very friendly with all the pharmacy workers. And he gave me step by step instructions on how to get to the pharmacy and EVEN WALKED ME OUT OF THE BUILDING AND TO THE BUS STOP!! He wasn't even wearing a coat in the cold and rain! So above and beyond nice. And he's funny! I went in with strep throat symptoms and after the strep A test came back negative he did another throat culture on me and did various other tests/evaluations to get to the bottom of it. He was very concerned and thorough and covered all the bases, even checking to see if I might have meningitis. read more

This was the worst, not one of, but the actual worst hospital/urgent care visit of my life. I came in with a lasting cough and was hoping to get help in getting it recovered. I came in on time for my appointment with Dr. Reichman and still waited 2hrs to see him. When I finally did see him, he spent the entire visit on his phone, speaking at length about other patients private medical conditions (making sure to use their names as well), and he spoke over me when I tried to ask him questions. When he was actually about to give me medical advice, he stopped mid sentence to answer another phone call where he further divulged at length incredibly private medical information of a patient, and after roughly 10min on the phone, he looked at me and asked why I was even still there. The answer was because he never finished (or even really started to give me) the medical advice I sought and still need! He did though give me a walking pneumonia test and then never gave me back the results despite my repeated attempts to call in and having left several messages. The medication he prescribed and "called into the pharmacy" was never received by the pharmacy. He was rude, unprofessional, unhelpful, and left $170 poorer and took 2hrs of my life I will never get back. I still have the cough. F**k that guy and f**k this place. read more

If you're nearby and looking for a doctors office do not come to Ahava. You're lucky if you're only waiting 1 hour before you see a specialist. This is not the facility for a quick doctor appointment but rather a purgatory if waiting rooms and poorly painted walls. Not once did I look around me and say "yes this place looks clean" and more than once I tried to leave but the incompetence of getting my refund back took so long that I was called in to the exam room before they were able to refund me. From there we waited another 20 minutes before the doctor was called. If you can, go elsewhere. read more

Horrific customer service and seeing the other reviews I'm grateful I never made it through the door. From Jan 5-Jan 31st I attempted to follow up with a referral for physical therapy. I called 2-3 times a week, used their text service, left voice mails. They had the nerve to ask me to have my doctors office refax the referral- they didn't even offer to contact my doctor to fix their mistake. They don't care about other people's time or energy. My son who suffers from an autoimmune disorder was exposed to someone with COVID. As a result it became necessary for our entire family of 4 to get a PCR test. We went here for the PCR and after 4 days of waiting for results we were told that they had no record of the PCR performed on me and my cousin who lives with us. Thank God my son and wife were negative but as a result of not having results for 2 of us we had to continue living at home as if infected. I am sure they will bill and get paid for the test that I never got results for. I plan on calling my insurance and informing them. I want to be understanding because circumstances are what they are, but medical facilities have be vigilant and responsible especially when dealing with situations can lead to a fatal end. This all on top of there not being any social distancing while waiting for the test. We were sure that if we walked in there without COVID, we would walk out with COVID. We waited 45 minutes in a unsafe environment out of need and for what, we now have to find another location. Hopefully one that is much more responsible. read more

Went there for physical Therapy at Sumner pl. location. Very unprofessional place. They never looked at the Doctor's Referral notes or bothered to check my knee MRI and started 'treating'. When I asked to look at referral/Doctor's note, they said they lost it somewhere - seriously... When I talked to manager , he said- well whatever problem you have , the therapy will not harm your condition. wow.... Never on time for appointment either. Giving me run around... If I could give them half a star, I would. First off, the woman at the front desk had the personality of a wet mop. I went in for a PCR test and was supposed to receive my results within 24-48 hours. Nothing. After waiting for more than 48 hours, I called and was told that I wasn't in the system. I reached out to the lab and they had no record of me. I was told that I was free to come in & take a rapid test. No thank you. I will not be returning to this place, ever again. read more

This place should be shut down ASAP...what a joke. A friend of mine went here to see a therapist and when he arrived, there was no one to check him in, apparently everyone was out to lunch. Why schedule appointments if there is no one to check people in?! He waited for nearly an hour, trying to get information from a nasty secretary that told him 'don't ask me anything, I'm still on my lunch break'. After awhile, another disgruntled employee tells him that he doesn't have an appointment. He shows her the appointment card which proves that he does, and she tells him that the appointment was cancelled, and that someone had left him a message, which was total bs. Meanwhile, there are salespeople trying to sell people different services such as Medicare in the waiting room and employees are yelling to one another about clients' diagnoses and other private information. The people who work here are greedy, corrupt, and beyond unprofessional. Anyway, my friend left feeling awful but decided to give them one more chance. His next session he also waited for over a half hour bc the therapist was running late. His session lasted all of 15 minutes, most of which she yawned her way through. That was the last straw. People who come here are struggling with mental health issues and may be suicidal are dealing with enough stress, then to be treated like this (by so-called 'religious' people) can push them to the edge. Had to take my mom in to this location for therapy. and We got really lucky to have a young man named Jorge Reyes to help her /us. WOW was this guy great to me and my mom. He was very professional and he took his time being gentle with her and explained everything to us both and put us at ease and let us know that he cared, which really made it a comfortable experience. This place is not good at all its straight up trash. This place should be shut down. First off you got people and kids walking and running with no mask. Than they are testing people for covid and don't put the covid testing people in one area. If someone had covid it wouldn't matter because you would be exposed are ready. When I want to the front desk the lady was nice and the nurses who took my wight she asked me what I was here for a said a check up and sat back down. Than they called me to the back it was he'll it look dirty walking up to the office kids running and they where all coming from the back. I went yo the office and doctor was there the office was small and dirty the chairs where old and dusty and I look at the table that they check you on straight up dirty there was a blue band that they use to take your blood and stank on the bed and other stuff. The doctor was so rude and just distasteful he be little me and all he care about was taking my blood for covid when I told him no he got mad but I was so discussed that I walk out. This was so traumatizing I'm just over doctors I don't like going to doctors as it is so this just add to my anxiety. I would give zero stars if I could. Wow. I scheduled an appointment to see Dr. Spinner more than a week in advance. When I scheduled the appointment, I made it clear to the receptionist that it was a time sensitive appointment, because my prescription for a daily medication was running out in 15 days. I received a call just two hours before the scheduled appointment with a cancellation. Apparently, Dr. Spinner had scheduled a vacation that he only let his staff know about two hours before his appointment. The most frustrating part is that I'll be unable to get this medication unless I scramble to find a specialist in network, or if I bite the bullet and pay a super high fee for service. It's unacceptable that the service at this doctor's office is so lacking. STAY AWAY. read more

I came in to see the neurologist which is located on the 3rd floor. It was a madhouse inside and the receptionist was so rude, unprofessional and nasty!!! There was a manager there that helped me out. She was polite, understanding and patient. She helped me until the end even called me when i got home to make sure everything was okay. I have been to a LOT of medical facilities and doctor's offices, and Ahava is, by far, the worst. I feel like it should be inspected and written up. It needs to be renovated and cleaned, for one thing. My first visit there, I was waiting to see the doctor and in the room next to me, a nurse suddenly spilled urine all over the floor and herself. She was loud about what she had done and didn't seem to care if anyone noticed. The receptionist called me by my middle name and wondered why I didn't respond and come to the front desk. The layout is absurd, you have to share a narrow hallway with other patients as people pace around waiting for the doctor. The psychiatrist, Dr. Spinner, is professional and very nice, but I waited a very long time to see him on my second visit and everyone around me was getting more and more on edge waiting for their turn. Even though they have appointment times, it seems to be a first come, first serve thing based on the sign-in sheet. By the way, apparently every single time you have a psychiatrist appointment here you have to give a urine sample. Uh, what? The only psychiatric facility I've ever had to do this at. this review concerns a specialist (urologist's office which also had a few other specialists) not the urgent care part of the hospital. everyone there has made an appointment. they over book appointments -- i had to wait 2 hrs for my 440 appointment. the place was packed bc of that; 25 ppl in the waiting room so social distancing is difficult. the receptionist did not know how many ppl we're scheduled in front of me. to find out i had to ask a few nurses. place is very disorganized. many members of the staff do not wear masks (they put them under their chin). given that it's a urologist's office a lot of ppl are using the bathroom. someone fell asleep in the bathroom which created a long line. the staff were oblivious to it. there was no soap or paper towels in the bathroom. all of the purell wall mounts were empty. place was unsanitary and disorganized. do not go here. read more

I call my Austistic son medical coordinator Ashley because I didn't receive his evaluations. When I call her another day. She said LILa or Laila didn't get back to her. I call a few times and Lila or Laila didn't get back to me. My son got his evaluations done in December. Now it March and it all more April. Because their didn't do they job. My son might not have a place to go In September the lady said. Medical coordinator Ashley should had went with YAI or AHRC. They need to be fired. read more

This place is the most unprofessional, unkind and just plain rude establishment I have ever encountered. I have only continued going there because one of their doctors, Dr. Liu is absolutely amazing. However, if I could give this place ZERO stars, I would. Their nurses are disgustingly nasty in how they speak to people. I called them to get a refill and the nurse literally just kept saying "you need to come in, you need to come in". I understood that however, she wasn't answered what I was asking. The nurse then hung up on me. When I called back, she hung up on me again. I then asked to speak to the office manager, he quickly answers and says "he doesn't know much of the medical business, he's new". He was equally as rude as the nurse, with repeatedly telling me I needed to come in to see if my condition change...I have a lifelong autoimmune condition that will unfortunately never change. He also did not listen and even tried to justify the nurse hanging up on me. This place is terrible. They treat everyone like they are beneath them. The tones in which they speak to their patients is just plain unacceptable. I rather stay without my medication then ever set foot back in this place. And let's no even get started with the wait times here, never less than a 5 hour wait for a 2 minute Dr. visit. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I went to their facility two times for aquatic physical therapy. The first visit was a 15 minute evaluation. I paid the full fee and made another appt for Sunday. The physical therapist took me to the pool and said the water was dirty and she wouldn't go in the pool. So I did some exercises. When I went to pay, a kid came from behind and whacked me on the back. I was in pain for days. His aide said she's sorry, the receptionist who saw this said nothing. I needed four sessions of treatment elsewhere to alleviate the pain. I was told that they no longer take my insurance and that they would send in the forms. They received the payment and it is three weeks later and I have not received any reimbursement despite numerous calls. Although the therapist was nice I would not recommend this place to anyone. They do nothing to protect their patients from aggressive adolescents. I'm not sure how they even got the money from the insurance but they have kept it in their account for weeks. read more

Be aware that if you go in it is known that if the medical assistant feel like putting last to see the doctor they will. I was surprise to find this doctor office to be open on a Sunday. I came in and waited for the person at the registration area to enter me as a walk in appointment, I noticed she annoy about something and was on a personal call with the business line. She was telling the caller that her employer won't let her go home early and her tooth really hurts. As I waited in front of her other patient who was already seen and who wanted to be seen were able to get help before I was able to be helped. Later another patient noticed my frustration told me that you have to be more aggressive just to get there attention and if they wanted to make you more frustrated they can put your chart last or let other patient that they like skip you. I think that is true for me cause I was in there for hour and a half before I was able to be seen and it was almost empty in there. The doctor there are nice but the Medical Assistant have no respect of patient doctor confidentiality. I heard one of the MA with curly brown hair tall and slim with black scrubs talk to another MA about another patient odor and their medical history in front of me, they were poking fun at him for having an eye patch and a gold tooth. I'm not in the medical field but I'm pretty sure that violate some HIPAA law. read more
