An absolute must is the whole fish done à la Contramar, one side of the split fish coated in a punchy parsley sauce and the other in a red adobo rub. Served with flour tortillas (which are refillable) and black bean dip, you'll be instructed how to compose perfect bites. Then, choose your own adventure! We also had both the 4 piece each shrimp tostadas and tuna tostadas. Radically different so getting both doesn't duplicate. The pasta (spaghettini) with clams was buttery and garlicky and the pasta was surprisingly not overcooked. Biggest surprise was the grilled soft shell crabs (with corn tortillas). They came pre cut then reassembled so it was easy to pick them up and pop them in your mouth. The grill flavor was fantastic and we were all impressed. We finished with a slice of coconut cake which was like a caramel coated macaroon. Perfect! Large wine list by the glass and bottle, many cocktails, sangria and beer to choose from. We went towards late afternoon/early evening and I am not sure if it's the norm, but booths were starting to close down. I don't know if any of the goods were stand out, but definitely some fun stuff from glassware, keychains, coasters, cookware, and so much more. Mercado de Coyoacán popped up as a convenient option since it's within a 10 minute walking distance from both Museo Frida Kahlo and Museo Casa Kahlo. Open since 1921 (though originally in a different location), on an early Sunday afternoon this appeared to be a popular place to visit, with plenty of people eating lunch at the many food stands, picking up groceries as well as a number of tourists exploring the aisles. The market is divided into sections, another Yelper compared it to Ben Thanh market in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (aka Saigon), and I'd agree this reminded me of a smaller version of that, and the setup is very similar! And by smaller by my estimate there's still more than 150 vendors here, so relatively speaking tons to explore (if that gives you an idea of how large BT market is)! Different sections of the market sell different items, there are areas for apparel, accessories, vegetables and fruit, butchers and seafood, spices/condiments/sauces, dried goods and coffee, food stalls, handicrafts and souvenirs interspersed in between. Each stall has a number tho you may need to do some wandering around to locate a specific one if you're searching for it. Vibrant sights, smells and sounds greet you at every corner, since it was around lunchtime the delicious scents of food wafting around made me hungry! I ate at one of the more popular stalls and food was decent though perhaps not stellar imho. However I may not have ordered the right items and it was also one of many choices so I'm sure there are other tasty items to try. The aisles are very narrow, enough for one person to pass thru in some cases, so take that into account. Bathrooms are available though not clear on conditions. We arrived around 9pm on a Wednesday, and it was lively and a little busy, but we were able to be seated directly. I ordered a Mexican rosé wine, and my husband had a couple of cocktails. We enjoyed all the drinks we ordered. The food I was a little less happy with. My husband got the enmoladas de pato (heirloom corn cortillas stuffed with confit duck and covered in black mole on one and green mole on the other, with aged cheese and pickled onions. The dish was pretty good, easily the best of the night. I had the Ceviche Verde (fish cured in salt and marinated in citrus juice, oregaon, and herb pesto) and the Tostada de huitlacoche (a tostada with huitlacoche confited in olive oil and herbs and creamed avocado). The ceviche was fine (cutting it in smaller pieces might have led to it being a bit more tender and easy to eat), but I didn't enjoy the tostada. Rather than being a tostada with huitacoche on top of it (as the menu and my instincts suggested), it was about two cups of huitlacoche in a bowl with a tostata laid over the top. The portion of huitlacoche was kind of crazy (way too much for the single tostada it was served with), and I thought it needed more done to it? It tasted like huitlacoche straight out of the can (I'm sure it wasn't, but it needed some additional flavor and spice). The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The service was very good, and the restaurant is stunning. Like the Oaxaca location, Los Danzantes in Coyoacán is in a beautiful building, with stunning character and design. It wasn't the best meal I've had in Mexico City, but it was beautiful and the service was great. I'd definitely return for drinks and its great ambiance and service.

Being from California, I was surprised to hear that they opened their newest location at the Fontainebleau in Las Vegas last month. We ordered the tuna tostada that people rave about. It was ok. We could have used some more assertive flavor from acid or spice. I couldn't eat a whole fish (their signature dish), so we went with shrimp in their adobo rub in a taco and fish al pastor. These were also just ok, but the price tags are high for their entrees. I've seen pictures of others fish al pastor with onions and cilantro and that certainly would have added something I felt was missing. The one thing we ordered and loved was their seasonal mackerel ceviche which was in an apple/citrus/olive oil sauce. It was unique and delicious. I think their ceviche and aguachile are probably their strengths, but the cost is pretty high to leave feeling underwhelmed. Honestly, we will be going back to mi compa chava for better seafood
