What a fun and relaxing find in the southern mountains of this lovely island!! $5 Access for…read morevisitors to a natural hidden gem of hot spring water that flows from a sulfur lava reservoir up into the mountains and out into constructed pools for bathing at two different warm & hot temperatures. The larger pool is hottest at the back near the spring, and cools off to around 90°F as the pool becomes more shallow. The smaller pool is hot all around 104°F. Bring bathing suit and towel, maybe a lock if you want to leave some valuables in a locker instead of outside around the deck or in your car. Snacks and water are helpful, but also available on site. Plan to spend an hour to 90 minutes for your visit to change go between pools a couple times and cooling off. Your fee includes well maintained clean pool deck areas, picnic tables and chairs with umbrellas, changing rooms, lockers (bring your own lock- but the area makes it easy to watch anything left on seats or sidelines), toilets, and outdoor shower for rinsing off before and after being in the waters. Extra fun touches include a spa soundtrack on speakers along with the natural sounds of birds and environment, a snack bar of options from meats and cheese in packaging to drinks and paletas frozen fruit bars. There are extras like hats, sun shirts, cups, and souvenirs. Even some natural herbal tinctures for extra healing benefits to add to your drinking water or to soak on a washcloth while you steam away in the hot baths. There's just enough room for about 50 people maximum between sitting areas outside of the pools and spaces in the pools. There are handicap accessible ramps for access to bathrooms, concessions, and pools. A friend commented that the waters were helpful for her neuropathy, and of course the hot waters help release muscle tension, while the sulfur content is good for skin!

I have always been lured to hot springs. It's something that fascinating me -- particularly since…read morethe hot water and minerals come straight from the earth. I've been to many around the world. But, never in the Caribbean. This one is pretty unique for that reason. It's located in a small town (Coamo) about 1.5 hours from San Juan. I came here after going to Toro Verde and it was some crazy, winding driving. But, the way from San Juan isn't too bad since it's mostly highway. The hot springs consist of two small pools. But, the setup is very nice. There is a zen/calming vibe to the place and peaceful music is playing in the background. The first pool (the larger of the two) is like a warm bath. It's warm enough to feel good and not hot enough to wear you out with the heat. The second pool is like a hot tub. You will feel a much hotter (but not unbearable) temperature. To me, it feels great. Very relaxing. Admission price is very reasonable. I think it was a total of $15 for 3 people. The concessions are also very cheap if you want drinks or snacks. Although this might be the smallest hot spring I've visited, I really enjoyed it. It's worth a stop if you are interested in this sort of thing and have time. Highly recommended.
