R & R This resort…read moreproperty in Puerto Rico is the perfect place to unwind. I have to start by extending a sincere thanks to my mother-in-law, who booked rooms for our extended family during New Years '24-'25. My wife and I had been to Boquerón once as part of an island roundtripper in 2018, so it was great to revisit the area with my young children. Aquarius Vacation Club sits along the southwestern edge of the island in the Cabo Rojo municipality. We stayed a total of 2 nights and the accommodations were better than expected. Beds were comfy, solid hot water pressure in the shower, spacious rooms and living areas, well-maintained grounds. The resort lost power briefly during our stay, but a backup generator helped keep the lights on...temporarily. Their open-air restaurant, Piscis Café & bar, was very affordable. All 11 adults came here for breakfast each morning and enjoyed a variety of juices ($3.50) and coffees ($3) with our food. Most of us got the standard 2 eggs any style ($8) that came with choice of meat and hash browns. Simple but tasty. The pool area included a splash pad for younger kids and plenty of chaise lounge chairs for adults to lay on, although I wish they would've had more spots in the shade. They also had a game room with DDR, Cruisin' USA and a couple pinball tables, sadly the latter were broken :( why y'all gotta tease me like that? There's beachfront access to Playa Boqueron for those staying at the resort, and you can rent kayaks or jet skis not too far from here. The plaza was absolutely buzzing with activity at all hours of the day, but the numerous bars & restaurants really come alive at night--we even saw street karaoke! For me, the highlight of the visit (hell, the whole trip) was watching the year's final sunset with my wife on a jetty. The hues of orange and magenta swirling in the early evening sky were better than a painting, just two people in love watching the sun go down. *lets out a longing sigh* * TL;DR * I couldn't have asked for a more idyllic way to close out 2024. I felt relaxed, I got some much-needed rest, and I got to watch fireworks from our hotel balcony with the people I care most about. Never spending NYE in icy cold weather again! All kidding aside, everyone had a wonderful time and I would highly recommend Aquarius Vacation Club as a place for families to stay. Rates are roughly $125-$150 per night. (oh, we saw plenty of decently-sized iguanas hanging around, which is old hat to a local Boricua but very exotic for a Midwesterner)

We arrived around 8pm but Robert was extremely welcoming and accommodating. He gave us a full tour: there's a full sized kitchen, swimming pool, a beautiful garden, and tons of seating in the common areas. He also has kayaks, paddle boards, bikes, and snorkeling gear for his guests to borrow. In our private room we had a full sized bath, a queen bed, and an outdoor area with a hammock and view of the ocean. They keep the place in really great shape! The area felt very safe and the price was more than reasonable. Robert was so friendly to chat with and knowledgeable about the area. We had an amazing stay and would definitely come back.

Multiple places to sit outdoors, including a lovely gazebo. Views of the ocean from upstairs balcony. A very quiet neighborhood. A fabulous garden with walking paths. Bob and Nancy had lots of ideas of places to visit for other beaches and restaurants. There there is a supermarket 15 minutes away. They have approximately 11 unique units available to book. Simple bedrooms with private bath on up to elegant three bedroom units. I can't wait to come back. They even have kayaks, paddle boards, and all snorkel equipment for use. Can't say enough about. The people here are so accommodating; they have 3 restaurants on the property and they are all equally good. from formal to casual you can't go wrong eating at any of them. i'm a marriott member and had some points that i used for one night and im happy i took advantage of it. unfortunately they are converting the property to a 4 seasons and it will be far more expensive to stay here. The st. regis operates like a luxury hotel should. i would give it 10 stars if i could. i used the spa facilities and the massages we got were first notch. and jesselyn was a great nature guide that took us around the property. we are sad to be leaving.

So here goes!…read more For kids There is an animal shelter with dogs and cats and specialist who will educate you about the animals. There is a small farm with goats to feed. My young kids were delighted with this. There is a boathouse area with free kayaking, standup paddle boarding and inflatable playground. This boathouse also offers more high-tech water sports equipment for rent. For families There are adult bikes and children's bikes on the resort that are complementary. There are golf carts that take you from one area to another as everything is pretty spread out. For example, from the main gate to the hotel is a little less than a mile. Only two free breakfast are included with Marriott status. So if you are traveling with kids, you have to pay $22 plus tip for their breakfast every morning. They have a few sand toys to share out on the beach. The large pool area does have Shallow parts for children. For adults The beach here is gorgeous though setback many yards from the hotel. The pool does not have an adult only area that I know of. There is a nice but small hot tub. You have access to all of the spa amenities every day as a guest here. There is a small gym next to the spa and a larger gym called the wellness center which is about Half a mile from the main area. Food issues The main issue here as many other of viewers have stated is the lack of decent food selection. Sea grapes is decent but only open until 5 PM. Paro gets terrible reviews and is excessively overpriced Mediterranean food. However, an Uber from the hotel to Rio Grande is not expensive around $10 and they are good restaurants, but you must do your own research. I recommend Los kioskos de luquillo Which have many food options and it is basically a beach party scene better for adult adults than kids. Service and butler service overall were spotty. We were given incorrect information multiple times. Don't forget to take a ton of cash to tip-wish they would include this in the final bill. Loved the ocean view, comfy beds, and spacious bathroom. Overall a nice stay and would consider coming back if the food options improved a bit!

This Resort is the first one that was built off the island of Jamaica, where Sandals first began. It has an older vibe to it. Very easy to get around and get your bearings of where everything is. You also have a resort map to help guide you. In some things we were a bit disappointed, but overall we really had a great time. I would recommend you make your reservations to the Dinner Restaurants when you first get there. The early times fill up fast. You know when you are on vacation the time goes by faster than usual. The swim up bars are great place to talk with other vacationers. Everyone is having fun. If you are heading for the beach, make sure you get there early to get the beach cots. It can be challenging to find one as the day goes on. The beach towel stations run out of towels rather quickly, the supply chain is slow replenishing the stations. I would suggest, at the pools grab a few towels from there. It may save you a walk from station to station looking for towels. They have lots of activities every day. The evening has special themes like "White Night " you wear your white Linen clothes, Reggie Night, etc. Live bands play every night somewhere on the property. Your daily resort schedule will tell you where. Oh yes dress, no matter where you go reservations or not, flip flops are the standard foot wear. I brought a few other pair of shoes that I never wore. Oh yes it is only a 10 or 15 minute bus ride to Grande Antigua from the airport. Sandals provided transportation to and from the airport. No tipping at the resort, but I did tip the driver to and from the airport.

We recently returned from a stay at Sandals Grande Antigua (June 15-20, 2025) and while there are…read morecertainly aspects of the resort we appreciated, there were also several concerns that, cumulatively, made this experience fall short of the high standards we've come to expect from Sandals based on previous stays in Barbados and St. Lucia. Pros: - The setting is undeniably beautiful. The beaches are stunning, and the resort grounds are well-maintained. - We appreciated the convenience of unlimited food and drinks. - The inclusion of Robert Mondavi wines ensured a consistent baseline of wine quality, which we enjoyed. Cons: - The level of service and staff attitude was noticeably below what we've experienced at other Sandals locations. Many team members seemed disinterested, disengaged, and at times cold--lacking the warmth and hospitality we have associated with the Sandals brand. This was especially evident at check-out, where no one asked how our stay was nor offered a simple thank you. - The number of solicitations we encountered was excessive and disruptive. On one occasion, we were approached five times in two hours--making it very difficult to relax quietly or enjoy reading without interruption. These included both Sandals-affiliated promotions and third-party vendors. - The food overall was average, which was a disappointment given the typically exceptional culinary experiences we've had at other Sandals resorts. Most pastries tasted mass-produced, croissants resembled those from a grocery store value pack, and drinks were heavily watered down with ice. - A few bright spots in dining included Soy, Eleanor's, and Kimonos. In particular, Chef Ronello and server Chad at Kimonos created a memorable and special hibachi dinner for our anniversary after a group no-show left us with a private experience. Their warmth and attentiveness stood out as highlights of our trip. - The breakfast quality was consistently poor. Omelets were made using bare hands to grab ingredients, which raised hygiene concerns. French toast and eggs were cold every day. - Internet access was frustrating throughout the stay. Frequent disconnects, weak signals (especially in-room), and download speeds of only 1-2 Mbps are unacceptable, particularly at a resort of this caliber. We chose not to pay for the "premium" internet, though advertised speeds were still below modern expectations. In 2025, even economy hotel chains offer faster, more reliable WiFi. Frankly, airplane WiFi outperformed what we experienced at Sandals Antigua. We strongly believe that premium-level connectivity should be included in the standard offering, especially at the price point of this resort. Closing Remarks: While the location and a few exceptional staff members helped create some positive memories, the overall experience at Sandals Antigua did not meet the standards we associate with the Sandals brand. We contacted Sandals directly with our feedback and they responded with offered compensation in terms of points. However, we were surprised to receive a legal document in connection with this offer to release us from future reviews. We felt this formality was unnecessary, particularly as our intention was never been to escalate matters beyond constructive feedback. After careful consideration--and with great reluctance--we chose not to book a future Sandals trip during our stay, something we've always done in the past. This decision was not made lightly, but based on the decline in service quality and overall value, we did not feel confident committing to another visit at this time. Also, we found it highly unethical that Sandals Antigua would attempt to offer compensation -- in the form of points -- seemingly in exchange for our silence or retraction of an honest, unsatisfactory review (or future reviews). This behavior constituted as a form of bribery and only further reinforced the disappointing experience we had with the resort. I urge Sandals to reevaluate its approach to customer feedback and adopt a more ethical and respectful standard for resolving complaints.

It is a secluded and hidden property. It feels very peaceful because it's quiet and relaxing which makes it a great place if you are looking to truly relax and disconnect. from the fast pace of life. The pool area is beautiful and very large, which makes it a great place to lounge and enjoy the tropical atmosphere. I also really liked the beach bar café next to the pool, where you can grab drinks and snacks while enjoying the view. I really enjoyed ordering many pina colada's which were so delicious. The grounds of the property are pretty and well landscaped, which adds to the relaxing feel of the resort. However, there are a few things that could really improve the experience. The rooms definitely need renovation and upkeep. Since the property is older, the wear and tear really shows. A fresh coat of paint and an overall renovation of both the interior rooms and some exterior areas would make a big difference. The resort only has one main restaurant, and while some of the staff were very nice, a few of the servers had dispositions that were not very welcoming. Another thing I felt was missing was a small gift shop or convenience store on the property. It would be very helpful to have a place where guests could buy things like drinks, snacks, sunscreen, hats, magazines, or Puerto Rico souvenirs. The beach access could also be improved, as it wasn't as easy or convenient as expected for a beachfront property. It is situated on the beach, but it was not an ideal place to walk or sit on the beach as it was too rocky and an only a small area of sand. That said, I truly enjoyed my stay because of the destination wedding and the beautiful setting. It was a wonderful event and I am glad I experienced the resort. However, because of the condition of the rooms and some of the limitations of the property, I personally would not stay here again unless renovations were completed.
