We took a short walk while waiting for a take-out order from around the corner, and wound up at Agora! What a little gem off the beaten path of Love Lane in Mattituck! We ended up buying a couple cans of dolmas (stuffed grape leaves), fig salami (vegetarian), homemade baklava, and some New-York-made soap! They have a great variety of Greek selections, from canned and dried goods, to home-baked goods, to frozen items to take home. They also carry an interesting selection of art and soaps. Everything was very reasonably priced. Perhaps the best part of our visit was the lovely chat we had with the very friendly owners! They take such pride in their business and made us feel welcome and appreciated. We will definitely be back to visit next time we are in Mattituck! read more

This is more than a grocery store. While they sell several different types of Feta cheese, olives, spinach and cheese pies they also have a small selection of ceramics and jewelry imported from Greece made by local craftsmen. They also have a nice selection of Greek cookies. The store is located on a cross street off of Love Lane near the train station. In addition the husband and wife owners are friendly people. read more

Came back in this time I picked up a couple Spanakopitas, dolmandes and hmm can't remember the name but hazelnut and almond candy. Kind of like Jordans but much better. The candies were so good, loved the hazelnut one. Ran into my family when I was leaving and gave them some of the candies, they actually went in and bought lunch and ssid it was great. All the items were tasty and I'll be back in this summer to grab some lunch and of course the hazelnut candy...yum! read more

I'm all for supporting local mom/pop stores. Agora Market is a quaint store on Pike Street with a side parking lot. The ladies behind the counter were friendly. Had a wonderful mix of International Greek foods, jewelry and little handmade tchotchkes. The baked goods looked incredible. $5 Spinach pie. Yum!! Enjoyed their complimentary rice pudding read more

I love this place. I've come here several times over the past few years and the quality of the food and service is always amazing. The owners go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. This hidden gem has all the Greek items I would travel to Astoria to buy and are very reasonably priced. I highly recommend this place to anyone seeking Greek goods. They not only have food items but have other goods such as soaps and ceramics. I prefer shopping here than Astoria, as the owners are more personable and helpful. Keep up the good work! read more

I visited agora during a trip to NY and absolutely loved the place! The selection of feta and olives, along with desserts was awesome. I was even lucky enough to sample some of the stuff and it was delicious. I ended up leaving with feta, olives, spanokopita, stuffed grape leaves, and a couple of other items. Prices were excellent. Other than a large selection of food items, including canned/dry goods, there are lots of household items, jewelry, ceramics, and things that are very "giftable". As per the owners--a very nice wife and her husband--just about everything comes from Greece unless otherwise specified. Next time I'm back on Long Island I will definitely do my best to stop by Agora again! read more

We were happy to read of Agora's opening, announced in The Suffolk Times, but it took us a while to get there. That was a mistake, we now replenish weekly. This place is the real deal, a slice of Astoria on the NF. In addition to the great authentic Greek products and prepared foods (stuffed grape leaves, feta and spinach pastries, baklava, etc), the prices are very reasonable and the owners are lovely. Agora is a little culinary gem that adds another dimension to our community. Shop there, be happy. read more

Every chance that I get to go out East with my children our first stop is at Agora Market. this is a special shop wich as everyone who has been there is run by a wonderful couple that shows the warmth of the Greek culture. They have so many delicious fresh items such as spanakopitas, cookies, pastries cheeses and a plethora of refridgerated Greek yogurts dips for parties gift items and so much more especially considering that it's a smaller store they fit so many things you don't need to go anywhere else and it's also extremely clean. So go in say Yiassou to them they will be so happy to see you. read more

A beautiful ride east and a walk through Mattituck fortunately brought us to Agora- a terrific small market with outstanding selections. I had to try the spanakopita and the cheese pies and asked for advice on some feta cheese. The store owner Joann, a very gracious lady, picked the perfect feta for salads and helped me navigate the pastry case for a delicious dessert. I highly recommend this delightful store carrying wonderful food but also some beautiful Greek crafts. Don't miss this small gem out east! read more
