Tripe soup was okay, hearty fatty and filling. The Hungarian pancake, was like nothing I have ever had. If I could describe it, a fried bread folded over with chunky meat and a brown gravy topped with sour cream and chives. It was so rich and flavorful, that I couldn't finish because of the size of the portion if I tried. The bar tender asserted me, I made a great choice. If you are down for biscuits and gravy, meatloaf with a loaf of bread, bangers and mash, you will like this dish. Bottom line, this is a dive bar that serves some authentic eastern european food. While we were there, the Monday lunch crowd quickly followed with dining & take-out orders. We ordered at the counter ( oddly, still protected by a huge plexiglass barrier ). The young lady was very helpful & knowledgeable with our menu questions. We ordered, paid and found ourselves a seat. When presented with the credit card payment, I noticed the gratuity pre-sets were at full-service levels & tipped as such. However, when we later realized that we picked up our own food & bussed our our table, we decided that we should have tipped for counter service. The food was spot on! Since i eat mostly vegetarian, I always find this type of cuisine challenging. But, a large list of house-made pierogis gave many options. I settled on a plate of six potato & cheddar with onion & sour cream. Since the kapusta here had no meat, I tried a side of that as well. The pierogis were perfect! Tender dough, flavorful filling - fantastic. The kapusta, a house made cabbage based kraut, was delicious as well & very filling! Half came home with me for another delicious meal.
