This is the first time I've ever tried a crepe Mille cake, and I'm very interested in the concept. Lady M is definitely upper scale at about 9-10 USD per slice. They sell many flavors or ecalirs as well as still water, sparking water and juice. They also offer a gift shop with small chocolates and other treats available to purchase. We tried the Chocolate ecalir, maple pecan and raspberry. They raspberry was the total show stopper and tasted amazing. They are slightly cool when served and the the filling comes out chilled. This is the perfect treat and is pretty as well as delicious. Yum!

They offer a wide range of crepe cakes, and my favourite by far would have to be their pandan crepe cake- it's just so smooth, and coconut-y, yet it's not particularly sweet. In that sense I feel that presenting it as a crepe cake suits it really well. I've also tried their salted caramel, matcha and rum raisin crepe cakes, but they're leagues away from the pandan crepe cake. That being said, they're still pretty good. If they run out of pandan cakes, I'd suggest the salted caramel, which is moderately sweet and also quite fragrant. The rum raisin is alright, you can definitely taste the rum in it, but I'm not a fan of their matcha crepe cake- i don't know why, but it just tastes a bit weird if you ask me. Their coffee has also improved significantly since my last visit- they do seem to use arabica beans for their espressos, so expect a bit of a kick, albeit a fragrant one. Pastries are also pretty good, and if I'm not mistaken, they're recently launched their hot breakfast menu.

As for the New York bagel, I don't think these bagels are in the direct lineage of a true NY bagel...maybe like a distant cousin twice removed of a NY bagel. It was OK and you could tell it was attempting to be a NY bagel, but missed the mark (not large enough, not doughy enough....with NY bagels it is all about the water used to make them!) Not sure if I could find a better NY bagel in Hong Kong, so the jury is out a bit on the bagel from Holly Brown. My breakfast sandwich was salmon, avacado and a poached egg on top of a plain bagel. Along with my regular coffee americano, something left me a bit flat about this place. The coffee was thin, no punch of flavor or fullness in the bean. My Holly Brown experience was average. Not great, not awful, not memorable, just average. My breakfast had no wow moment. I had no moment of customer service amazement. Coffe was average. Average is a 3 to me on Yelp. It's a relaxing space to spend your afternoon here catching up with friends. For food, we ordered the rainbow cake and the earl grey cake. I ordered from the set menu and tried the Galette la Marin, after seeing all the hype around it. While it was tasty, it unfortunately suffered from a rather serious flavour imbalance. I'm reasonably sure that they called it "La Marin" because it had scallops, but they may as well have done away with them, since the copious amounts of bacon drowned out any flavour that those fresh scallops had. Mushrooms were also under seasoned, or completely drowned out by the bacon, so what I had essentially was a Gallerte with Béchamel (white) sauce and bacon that shared the texture of ham. It would probably be wise for them to replace the scallops with a smoked white fish, which may better complement the bacon and mushrooms. I also tried out the Gallette la Americane, and I am pleased to say that was fantastic, with the minced beef, tomatoes and Camembert coming together nicely. I ordered La Jamaicaines, which is their highly popular "rum raisin crepe with coffee ice cream" which has a rather impressive entrance, having been served as a flambé crepe. Overall, I thought it was just okay, people who really like the rum in rum raisin would enjoy this, but it's not really for me. I also tried out my dad's apple crepe served with salted caramel butter and surprisingly, that crepe actually blew my mind as it brought back nostalgic flashbacks of the time he introduced me to crepes back in a ski vacation at Whistler. The caramel sauce was light and complemented the Apple fantastically bringing this almost Christmassy sensation in my mouth, bringing back happy memories between the two of us, of simpler times. I would come back again, but due to the somewhat inconsistency in the quality of the menu items, go with your gut, not hyped up reviews. Having visited this shop numerous times in the past decade, the signs of popularity has not wane. The prices are also very reasonable and the quality of the goods are always up to par. Remember to bring your own bag for all the goods you buy if you don't want to pay for a bag. The staff are very quick to ring customers up and get them on their way. A few favorite items that are worth writing home about include their raisin bread and buns, salted egg yolk Swiss roll, paper wrapped sponge cake, and mont blanc tarts. Cakes are soft and spongy, bread is soft and tasty, and the pastries are not too sweet. So wonderful for any time of day.
