Everything at Cielin's Cake Shop actually tastes like it was made right out of the comforts of your kitchen. A must-try is their mini cheese tart and moist chocolate cake - they're even better than those from the mainstream cake shops in the Metro. Cielin's Cake Shop is a bit hard to locate but once you see The Good Shepherd Bazaar, you're almost near the place.

It's right in front of a church and if that's not an ingenious idea then I don't know what is. They have all sorts of goodies in this store and the prices are very affordable. I like how they've managed to give out the best prices while still maintaining the quality of their cakes. Oh you should come here when you're extremely hungry, it'll be fun I tell you. Last time I did that, I had 3 cupcakes in one sitting then brought home their famous chocolate cake for my sister. Don't ask me what I was on, it was fantastic and let me again say that I didn't have to spend so much. P500 can haul you a stash already. A cake costs around P300-P350 while cupcakes cost around P20-P25. See what I mean by inexpensive? But that doesn't mean the cakes here aren't excellent, all of them taste great! So if you ever find yourself in the area, go to mass then grab a cake. Trust me your prayers will be answered.

It has a little bit of a diner feel to it depending on where you choose to sit. My boyfriend and I went there post-dinner, and we were lucky enough to catch the place more relaxed and with fewer people. Behind the glass near the counter, the pastries were displayed beautifully, and everything looked clean and well-kept. We ordered two cupcakes, both chocolate-based (because dessert isn't dessert unless it's some sort of derivation of chocolate, I always say), and were pretty excited to try them. For a girl with a sweet tooth, cupcakes aren't necessarily very high up on my favorite sugars list, but over the last couple of years, I'd tried enough to crave them once in a while. Unfortunately, I won't exactly be writing accolades about the cupcakes themselves. One was bland (which is a lot to say for something that's essentially a ball of sugar and chocolate) and the other dry. The good news is that we were happy with the beverages we ordered. I'd ordered a mocha drink of some sort, and my boyfriend had coffee. Overall, while I'm not a fan of the cupcakes, I'd say this is a good place to hang out if only for the ambience and the satisfactory drinks.

I appreciate minimal designs more but there are days when I just want to see pink, pink, and more pink. Larcy's is your usual pink and girly cupcakery; what with the spacious place and lightly-colored walls, dotted with equally girly chairs everywhere. I didn't waste any time choosing what to order. I already know what I would get, since I'm a bona fide red velvet lover. For some reason though they called theirs "Pink Velvet". I kinda thought the cupcake would be a little lighter in color but it wasn't. It was still my good old red velvet, in a pink cupcake foil. I'm glad that the one I bought lived up to my expectations. The cake is moist and it has this in-depth flavor that I look for. Not to mention the cream cheese, which has an excellent quality.

I was so fascinated with the Barbie house interior because everything was so pink and cute! The walls are always decorated with fun and bold colors, while the furniture looks so good and pretty that you just can't help yourself from wondering if it's all edible. The moment I walked inside the Vanilla Cupcake Bakery, I felt I was inside a real life-size Barbie house. The walls were decorated with colorful and lovely patterns, chandeliers that look like they're made from candies were hanging from the ceiling, little purple and pink figurines adorn the counter--I just can't help but feel like I am a character from a fairy tale when I am inside this place. This place has no ugly corners. Even the bathroom looks beautiful. I ordered their Red Velvet Cupcake with Cream Cheese Frosting and it tasted heavenly. The color scheme, decor, deliberately mismatched chairs and tables all scream cute just like Instagram posts - obviously contrived but trying so hard to be effortless. Then the cupcakes themselves are adorable, almost too cute to eat. Why would I want to destroy such a meticulously frosted creation? I'd rather just admire those little mounds of sugar than consume them. Also, it would be a lot kinder to my waller to not buy anything - a single cupcake is about the same price as a fried chicken value meal or shawarma wrap, and considerably less filling. They taste good, sure, but I can think of more interesting cafes (with wider menus) to hang out with friends.

While I was down South, my friends and I decided that it would be great to end the night with something icy to cool down. We actually weren't sure where to get Bingsu but, thankfully, we found this hidden gem at Molito. Bingsu is basically the Korean version of shaved ice or halo halo. Imagine soft, icy snow with condensed milk poured on top then add any toppings of your liking: from mochi to fresh fruit to brownies! We arrived almost to closing time but they still allowed us to order. We decided to try the regular size of the Injeolmi, Mix Berry Yogurt, and Mango (of course!). There was a bit of wait since we were the last order and they ran out of ingredients and had to prep for more. So, we waited for about 15-20 minutes. While we were waiting, we decided to hangout in their "Snow Room"! Yes, they have a small room in the café where "snow" falls from the ceiling. Pretty cool making snowballs! :) After hanging out in the snow, our bingsu orders arrived. Among the 3 that we ordered, the best was actually the Injeolmi! It's was the most traditional one and it was also the most flavorful. It had the right amount of sweetness and it was packed with ingredients. The Mix Berry Yogurt was tart and had dried fruit which added the sweetness. The Mango Bingsu was a winner. But, I always ended up going back for more spoonfuls of the Injeolmi! The one common factor for all the Bingsu we ate though is that the ice was sooo fine, fluffy and creamy. One of the best quality bingsu I've tried so far! I will definitely come back when I'm in the South again. I hope I'll be able to try their Cheese Bingsu next time! :)

The snow room in the cafe was a pretty fun touch. The desserts they serve were certainly fun and just the goodness we needed. We ordered the chocolate snow ice, the small one, certainly, it was enough for two to share as a dessert. I'm used to the Taiwanese snow ice and this is certainly something new. Reminded me of the snow ice, but the ice was really flakey and soft, super fun for the palette. The chocolate wasn't overly sweet and was just plain enjoyable. We were already eyeballing the menu for our next visit and scoping out the other tables. It all looks so good!! If you need a cool pick me up... This should certainly do the trick! We hope to visit again soon and try everything eventually :) A la cuisine! Stay hungry my friends!
