She had insisted she be cared for in her house (fearful of "those places") until it got to the point we didn't consider that safe/sufficient. Once moved in, mom herself started referring to her apartment as "home" and stated she loved being there. The staff, from administration to wellness to custodians, to a person, where kind, attentive and caring. One example amongst many... my son and significant other purchased her a plant... robust and needing little care beyond watering. During an extended absence (hospital stay and rehab) the room was cleaned... expected... and some gracious soul watered the plant (even updating the sticky note with the date) for her. Again...
