She ended up with an infection and into the hospital due to their negligence. Then the staff alone is HORRID. I asked what medications my mom was taking - the meds tech said it starts with an A - and could not name the medication. They were giving her the wrong dose of thyroid medication it was beyond too high and the staff hung up on me twice when I called to check on my mom after she returned from the hospital. The director DID NOT CARE - about any of this and straight told me the nurse lied about sending labs. If I could give minus zero stars I would. Run in the other direction.

The care my mother received was outstanding. The staff was caring and made an effort to get to know my Mom. The provided me a wealth of information to help my Mom. Their cooperation was particularly valuable since I was coordinating her care from thousands of miles away before I could get back to Michigan and help her move in to Sunrise. Everyone from the sales staff to the care givers were first rate. I cannot recommend this facility with any higher rating. If I was not moving my mother to Washington to be closer to me, she would have been a permanent resident at Sunrise. Lovely place!

After looking at multiple places, we decided to place my 92 year old dad at Kingsley for short term care. This was our first experience with assisted living, and needless to say we were all anxious that he would have a good experience. He went kicking and screaming. The anxiety quickly melted after our first discussion with the marketing person, and subsequently with all of the care and attention he received from the entire staff. They truly took care of him from their hearts and took him in as family, and eased our minds. When he discharged from their care, several staff members gave him hugs, and he told them he wanted to come and stay again, the best compliment of all. Later, he told me he enjoyed the food, and this man is a finicky eater. I cannot speak highly enough of Kingsley. It's a clean modern facility with an outstanding, very caring staff. God Bless them.

My mother has been at the independent section of Waltonwood Twelve Oaks facility for over 7 years…read moreand have found it have a wonderful community atmosphere. After my father died, her memory issues became obvious. She was not eating properly and could not care for her home. She adjusted to Waltonwood by trying all the activities offered and loved the company she found there with other residents. She also enjoyed going to her apartment to have her own time. The facility is beautiful and safe. The residents are friendly. The staff is wonderful. They are kind and caring. I've seen the servers in the dining room, abused and treated poorly by some residents and the workers have accepted it without a complaint. The food is quite good with a varied menu that is low sodium. I have found that to be rare. There is a Resident's meeting monthly to discuss concerns and I have seen changes in activities and schedules based on those concerns. There are many activities and groups offered to keep the residents stimulated. My mom thanks me several times monthly for finding the place for her. I am a nurse practitioner and have worked in Geriatrics and visited many places in my work and prior to moving my mom here. I have been observing this facility for over 7 years and have been very satisfied and with the care, compassion and services my mother has received in this period of time. There was a time when the director was changed 3 times within a short period of time, but this has not been the case for about 5 years now. I have found Ann accessible and responsive. At family dinners, around holidays, she and the staff serve us. I was disturbed to read the bad review from Jaclyn D, because of my experience, but I realize that her father was in the Memory Care section of the facility. This area is reserved for residents, who are quite advanced in their dementia. These people do not get better, they stay the same or get worse. It is the nature of the disease. They do not require less care, they require more care. A suggestion that this was the case with Jaclyn's father is that he passed away after 2 years. Medication charges are related to the frequency that they are taken and may have gone up after the frequency was increased. The care of people with dementia is very difficult. There needs are great to begin with and this is often compounded by recurring requests that are not in their best interest (my mom still asks me for her car every week). osing someone this way is slow and heartbreaking. Parts of them slip away slowly and it is painful to watch. I know. Both of my in-laws died in this manner and now I watch my mother. I have talked about independent living with many patients and have seen a variety of facilities. Waltonwood at Twelve Oaks is a community of caring people. Please judge it for yourself.
