When we visited the facility, we found out that the location on Hot Springs Road was currently under re-construction, and they hoped to move back to a new and larger facility some time later this year. Daughter and I located the temporary location a little by accident, when looking for some parking space our first morning in town. We had dropped Mom off at the hotel, and she and I went back for a drive around, and look see at what might have happened in Harrison since our last visit. We saw some 15 minute free parking, and when we pulled into the space, found ourselves directly in front of Harrison Tourism -- right where we wished to be, and it was open. The first, of two visits during our stay in Harrison. We had different hosts for our visits, and each was so cordial, and informative. During the first time there, we browsed the Sasquatch Museum setups, I took some photos, and we chatted about Harrison 'stuff & such' with our host at the time. When we returned the second time, more chatting with our host at the time, I took a few more photos, and we both purchased some gifts to remember our trip and stay. We sure look forward to seeing the new setup when it is completed. But for this Harrison stay, our hosts and exhibits at the present Tourism Harrison location were fun, interesting, and informative, and we sure enjoyed spending some time with them.

The Hope Visitor Centre was a short, but worthwhile, and informative stop for us during a late-June…read morestay in Hope. We had popped in to take a look at some of the available brochure offerings and the like, ask staff a few questions about some of the local attractions, get some driving and walking directions, and check out a map or two. Staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful -- we were able to acquire all the information we hoped for, and left with a good selection of brochures, maps, and other 'stuff' to take back to the car and motel room. Our visit, though quite brief (as we were heading out of the city at the time, and anxious to get on our way), was fun and productive, and we were happy to have made the stop when we did, finding the information very helpful to travelling/activities planned for that day, and onwards over our stay.

We visited this park right after highway 20 opened for the season this year and it was magnificent…read more This is a very beautiful park with lots to see. There are glaciers, mountains, lakes and rivers and some of the most incredible sunsets you will see. We were even lucky enough to see a mountain goat. There is also plenty of great hiking here. We did many trails, but the trail of cedars was one of my favorites because I love bridges and the trail is almost completely shaded which is nice in the warm weather. It's a very level easy trail that anyone can do. This is easily one of my top five national parks of all time and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't had a chance to come here and experience it themselves.

The ladies that work here is super friendly and sweet. They're not pushy into selling you the tour deals. The worker took one look at us and sold us the tickets at the student price. 5 stars for that!! The ladies are super helpful with giving us tips, and trying to let us know what local places we should check out for dinner. Super sweet! Feels like you're chatting it up with a friend's aunt! Bathroom is clean, tons of brochures. Very helpful workers and they sell tour tickets with a discount! How can you not give them 5 stars!

The River Loop Trail. An easy trail to visit where it leads into a view of the water. There is a park ranger there available to answer your questions on what trails is open and what is accessible. The Visitor Center is a place where you can relax a little and enjoy the information of maps available to many. There is an exhibit available by the gift shop. The gift shops has various items. Tshirts, magnets and postcards. They sell a little bit of snacks too.

Decent sized center. Small bookstore with a good variety of souvenirs. Lots of park information. Super knowledgeable rangers ready to help with your visit. Really nice and clean bathrooms (always a big plus!!). We had cell reception here so it was great to plug our stops in on maps. Make sure to walk around to the back of the visitor center. There's a short boardwalk that's ends with a gorgeous viewpoint of North Cascades. Hands down a must. You can take as little or as much time as you want just enjoying the beauty. The visitor center is also the starting point for the River Loop Trail - an easy 1.8 mile round trip walk with beautiful views of the surrounding forest and the river. You can get all of your outdoor needs met here! The interior is quite spacious, with about half of the footprint of the floor being dedicated to a shop with gifts, maps, postcards, and other knick knacks. There's also the national park stamp for your book if you collect cancellation stamps. The other half of the building is filled by a large ranger desk and their cubicles. Under the long counter is a variety of maps, passes, and pamphlets. The ranger working the day I visited was very helpful, identifying some insect photos that I took earlier that day, as well as setting me up with some national park maps. Other amenities include a water bottle fill station, as well as gender neutral washrooms. Great visit!

Stopped into Kilby on the way to a stay in Harrison Hot Springs last week. Our stop and walkabout…read morewas made specifically to take a peak at the current condition of flooding affecting the Lake, beach, and campground area there. We drove down to the campground area, and were able to park on the road, just to the front of the highway signs, and barriers that had been erected to stop any further passage by vehicles, and warnings to those on foot to be careful. Most of the beach and campground areas were totally under water from the river and lake flooding currently affecting the area. It looked, and felt strange to see roadways, sites, signs, and most everything we know so well at this location, submerged in water!! We talked to a couple of area residents, and were told that this particular area of Kilby floods each year, and although flooding this year was significant, it was not nearly as bad as some previous years, when more of the area homes, cottages, et al, were also more directly affected. They said that conditions had basically stabilized at this time, and retreating of the water should be taking place soon. Hope for all their sakes, retreating of the water has started for them, and this lovely area of Harrison Mills within the Kilby Historic Site, will be back to normal soon.
