A fun place to take the family (young and old). The tour is very entertaining. Restaurant is great and the home made pies are outstanding!

The Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at UBC reopened on June 13, 2024, after an 18 month closure for…read morestructural & reno work. The MOA is back & even more grand than before. Do not think the Natural History Museum in London or the Met in Manhattan. That would be an - apples & oranges comparison, with the former two leading the way when it comes to museums worldwide. The MOA while not as grandiose as the Met, really stands out on its own showcasing mainly First Nations art along with other various artwork. It is a splendid museum. Budget to easily spend a minimum 3 to 5 hours here but definitely give yourself more time & do not rush. There's a lot to see here. There are guided tours available with your paid entry fee. Check at the front desk for more information. Make a note to also go outside of the museum & check out the Totems. Make sure you have a big brekkie or lunch before coming here. The cafe here sells limited items & you cannot bring drinks or food into the museum. Do check online for opening hours in order to give yourself enough time here. Limited parking is available. I parked at the Student Union building then walked over to the MOA along Main Mall & then through the Rose Garden to get here - approximately a 20 minute walk one way. It wasn't cheap but I was with visitors from out of town, so I didn't mind as I was showing them around UBC at the same time. Honestly, I can't wait to go again.

A very interesting, immersive, and educational visit to MOA. A place of world arts and cultures…read morewith a focus on the First Nations. Committed to promoting awareness and understanding of indigenous peoples and their cultures through spectacular and impressive art works. A beautiful museum to explore while in Vancouver!

Drove past this place on the way to Cascades NP and said ohhhhh we gotta stop. Obsessed with the…read morebig foot lore and this guy was so fun to talk to. It's an absolute MUST stop. Ask him about his journal of all the stories people have told him. We loved reading through people's experiences.

I'm writing this review because when we saw this little roadside attraction online, it seemed like…read morean awesome stop that we were all excited about. However, when we arrived, it was nothing like I expected. People who are considering stopping here need to understand that this is a private residence and the "museum" is some stuff that this gentleman has in his driveway and garage. They need to think about how comfortable they will feel pulling up to a stranger's house and asking them to wander around in their garage. Turns out I did not feel comfortable with that at all. We checked lots of different review sites before stopping here and everything said it was dog friendly because it's mostly outside. As soon as we pulled up to the location the vibe immediately felt off.. I asked if everyone was sure they wanted to do this and no one else seemed to have an issue, so everyone tumbled out of the van and I grabbed our small dog. As you walk up the driveway there are cute decorations in the front yard and driveway area to look at but I was no more than 5 ft from the sidewalk when I heard a large dog barking behind the fence. Our presence really seemed agitate the dog so I stepped back a bit. Just after the dog began barking, the man who lives in the house came out and asked us if we wanted to check out the garage. I hesitated because I did not want to walk further up the driveway with my dog and he proceeded to make some tactless comments. It was incredibly awkward. My husband was already up the driveway at that point and headed into the garage behind him, but I decided this was not for me and I did not feel comfortable so I went back to the van to wait with my pup. When everyone returned to the vehicle just a few minutes later they said there was some cool stuff in the garage but that the guy was a little odd (which I was already aware of because of his previous behavior) and I guess you'd have to be to turn your house into a sasquatch shrine. As we were driving away, my husband told me he had given the guy $10 because he was commenting under his breath about people stopping but not making donations and in my personal opinion, the whole thing was a little cringe. There are lots of little, independent museums that have hours and charge a small entrance fee. That is perfectly fine, but the way this is set up and the boorish personality displayed by the "curator" made it an unenjoyable stop for me personally. I hope this review is helpful to anyone considering visiting, and I genuinely hope that anyone who does visit has a lot more fun and a more enjoyable experience that I did.
