It's not an Ocean City family vacation without multiple trips to Kessel's! During our week at the…read moreshore, we visited Kessel's three times: takeout on our first night, ice cream mid-week, and an early dine-in dinner before heading home. As always, each of our three experiences this July were fantastic, with our last shining the most. We typically do take-out on night number one, and like in years past, the food is always ready on time and prepared as ordered. We ordered an array of items including Cheesesteaks, Chicken Caesar Wrap, Burgers, Grilled Cheese, Fries, and Onion Rings. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The line stretched around the side of the building the night we stopped for ice cream, but it moved quickly. Staff efficiently took orders, prepared cones and sundaes, and kept the line moving despite the large crowd. While take-out is always great from Kessel's, I will always prefer dining in! You really can't beat the old-school diner vibes and decor, and the service is outstanding. Julia, our server, did an incredible job with our party of 7. She was highly attentive, frequently checked in, and really added to our experience. My Cheesesteak Hoagie with hot peppers may have been my favorite thing I've ordered from Kessel's to date, but it's hard to go wrong with anything on the menu. The burgers and wraps are also solid choices. I also ordered a fresh Peach Sundae and I highly recommend! Julia even made my sundae herself in addition to waiting tables, and it tasted every bit as good as it looked. Absolutely picture-worthy! Kessel's is a cash-only establishment, but for seven people--including sandwiches, burgers, wraps, multiple orders of fries, and a few desserts--the total was just over $100. That's an incredible value especially at the Jersey Shore. Kessel's will always be a staple of our family vacations and continues to be a highlight for our nieces. If you've yet to experience breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just an ice cream sundae from this adorable, little, retro-feeling diner, please pay them a visit. I think you'll be glad you did.

Off the boardwalk but worth visiting. Most reasonably priced place I found in OCNJ. Classic diner…read more Good amount of indoor seating. I loved everything I ordered but my wife disliked everything she ordered, so order carefully. I loved the home roasted beef wrap, large garden salad and blackberry/chocolate chip frozen yogurt.

Subtract this one from a short group of places in OC that I had driven by for years but had never…read morestopped at until two weeks ago around lunch on a Thursday. Upon entering everybody is warmly greeted by someone who works there and while there are certainly shoobies who show up at least when we were there it was far more locals than anything else. The store part has a little bit of everything in terms of dry goods, dairy items, multiple drink coolers, frozen food items and bags of ice outside but the star of the show is the deli half of the store. All I can say is that it's good and by good I mean like really good. The guy working the grill knows how to make a cheesesteak and the rolls they buy are righteous. Past that aforementioned cheesesteak options (there are multiple) you also have a full line of hot/cold hoagies, all D&W products, several salads by the pound and even a few breakfast sandwich options along with coffee/ donuts from when they open at seven. A few noteworthy quirks to help your experience: * When they're open (in season only) it's from 7am-8pm. * The grill does not start until 11 and it stops around 30 minutes before they close. * They do not accept debit/credit although there is an ATM on site. * Their large hoagie is a 19 inch monster. (It's well worth the investment) * Speaking of investment, prices are definitely on the high side but I suppose that comes with the turf of being open seasonally along with being on the island in general. * Check out the picture frame on the wall with all of the prayer cards as it's very impressive as is the sign on the deli warning you of their ten dollar surcharge. Overall Berenatos is really a neat place with a bunch of character and everything we got from the grill was fantastic and next time we're in town especially if we stay as close as we did last time, we'll definitely be back for more.

I hear a woman criticizing an young employee who was supposed to take my order. I waited and waited and no one said "I'll be right with you" or anything. I ultimately left as I didn't feel good about the way the person was speaking to another young man employee and it was going to be a very long wait for 2 sandwiches. I went to Wawa.

If you haven't had Johnson's Caramel Corn, you haven't really been to "The Boards" at Ocean City…read more We grabbed a small bag (and a tub to take home) of their caramel corn and it was exactly what you'd hope for. Rich, warm, perfectly coated, and had that homemade taste that sets it apart from anything store-bought. It's sweet without being cloying, crispy without being hard, and nostalgic without feeling dated. This is caramel corn that holds its legacy with pride. What makes it hit even harder? It's tradition. My mom remembers getting it when she came down to the Shore with my grandparents, and here we are, still making that same stop, now with our kids. There's something sacred about that kind of continuity. The stand itself is pure boardwalk. No frills, no gimmicks. Just a steady stream of locals, tourists, and generational snackers getting their fix. Multiple locations across the boardwalk means it's always accessible, and the staff keep the line moving fast, friendly, and efficient. You can tell they serve a lot of caramel corn every day, and every batch still feels fresh. Whether you're doing a food crawl or just strolling after dinner, this is a must-stop. A Jersey Shore legend, plain and simple. You gotta go!
