Called first, asked if it's walk in or appointment only - they accept walk ins. Perfect. Walked in. 4 ahead of me. One receptionist, 2 hair stylists. I had the pleasure to get my hair cut by Pamela. I asked for a mid-taper on the sides, size half, and a slight trim on top. Told her I'm going for a pompadour look with a little bit of a combover. She NAILED it perfectly. Educated me on correct technique when applying pomade from fingers to the roots of the hair (I used my palms) and showed me how my hair could lay better when pushed forward rather than back. Something barbers don't take into consideration whatsoever. Ended the experience with a hair wash, blended/faded the rest and trimmed the top. Simply amazing. Accepts debit card. I selected "any barber" because I wanted the fastest available slot. I arrived at 2:25 because I didn't want to be late and needed to be out of there as soon as possible. Right at 2:30 one of the barbers asked if I had an appointment. I said yes. He pointed to a female barber in the corner and said I'd be with her. I had just watched someone sit down in her chair, so I mentioned it. He then went over and asked her how long she'd be, which confirmed I was looking at at least another 30-minute wait. The way it was handled made it seem like this wasn't unusual. After I canceled my appointment, I got a quick, half-hearted "sorry about that." Honestly, if there had been more sincerity in the apology or any sense that the mistake was being owned, I probably wouldn't have written this. But with 15 minutes left before my new appointment at my usual shop, I figured I'd take a minute to share the experience. What's the point of making an appointment if you're going to wait as long as a walk-in? Not sure if this will help anyone, but it was frustrating enough that I felt it was worth sharing. I know quite a few people who go here, and I've always wanted to like the place, but it just doesn't quite hit the mark for me.
