Hired for flooring prior to move in: Refinish floors and LVP. 1. Did not stain floors under appliances because they were "stuck." Costco removed fridge: effortless removal on wheels. Rolled right out. It was clear, Goodman's guys didn't even try. I asked how he would fix it and he said when the fridge dies and they take it out they will fix it. I asked for that in writing and Aaron the owner said "trust me." 2. Wood filler popped out of cracks immediately after refinish. 3. LVP supposed to last 10+ yrs. LVP is buckling. 4. Did not level the subfloor prior to installing the LVP. Over time, the LVP hás molded to the imperfections in the plywood sub-flooring. 5. LVP transition broke because threshold was not supported from underneath. The house is old and that was the excuse used at every obstacle. I really wanted to give high points for the work A G Construction. Originally the floors were amazing. But a few months later there were major cracks in the wood filler. If I would have known the wood filler was going to crack I would have told them fill in the gaps. I had A.G. Construction to come out and repair the cracks and the workers did a terrible job. Not only that, Aaron Goodman is the type of professional contractor you hope for but almost never get. When I first contacted him to discuss what I was thinking (replacing old carpet upstairs, refinish stairs and railings and eventually refinishing existing wood floors), Aaron came out, measured and gave me some recommendations based on our existing wood. He referred me to a great showroom so I could pick out the wood to replace the carpet. I took my time deciding and never felt rushed. Given our previous good experience with Aaron and his team, we recently hired him to put in a new kitchen floor and match it as closely as possible with an existing hardwood floor in the adjacent hallway. Absolutely horrible! AVOID this "company" unless you want your house destroyed. I spent a full day vacuuming every surface, even the walls. Dust was everywhere, even inside the oven, refrigerator, light fixtures. They spilled stain on my walls, doors, and window ledges and I have to repaint everything. The floor was left in such bad shape it has to now be ripped out and entirely replaced. Instead of just refunding me the deposit, this fly by night operation gave me half back. What about all the damages? The time it will take to fix their mistakes? After they came back to "fix" the multiple problems, they caused more damages including ruining my window ledge. No protection at all for my brand new appliances and kitchen cabinets and floor. The freshly painted wall was also severely damaged which I now need to fix. I had asked to please protect my kitchen and I left a plastic drop cloth, which was balled up and tossed under the counter. I was shocked by the damages they caused, especially when I asked they protect my kitchen. My advice, AVOID them. read more

AG Construction and Flooring is such an amazing company, I completely recommend anyone who might even be hesitant to call Aaron and talk to him. He is the owner of the company, very personable and knowledgeable and won't waste your time. My husband and I had some pretty horrendous water damage in our "new home." We live in a stacked condo (similar to a townhouse) and our water heater overflowed from our bedroom downstairs to the main floor. Needless to say, I was a raging psycho when it happened. We had huge portions of our walls cut out....I mean like whole sheets of drywall, all the flooring (which was an awful carpet anyway) had to be ripped out. When this initially happened, I was almost six months pregnant, so mold was a huge concern of mine. So basically after a month of looking for the right contractor who wouldn't dick me over because we were in a vulnerable position, I found Aaron's company. After meeting with him and getting an exact picture of what the issues were, what the process was, and how much to pay, I was so reassured by his knowledgeability that we basically chose him in the room. I asked him a million questions that day and he answered every one of them thoughtfully and humorously. He even called us the next day to see if there were any concerns he could alleviate. Personality is a huge plus for my husband and I, and if I can't feel like you even give a shit about the work you do, it's not gonna happen. He and his crew did the drywall and painting work AND installed beautiful new flooring. They had their own lockbox system, that didn't require us to be on call to be able to open the door and let them in or lock the doors at night. This was a super convenience for us. We did stop by occasionally to look at work being done (we were very excited) and his crew was always professional and courteous, helping with any questions I had for them. This is my first baby, and he explained to us the merits of the flooring we chose and why it would be more beneficial for our young family. Called AG after we were jerked around by Home Depot. Needed flooring in the basement of my rental property after some previous work required removing the carpet. Worked a week with HD and selected a flooring in stock to expedite the process. Still said it would be 10-14 days before they could 'deliver' the materials and then they would set up an install date. Called Aaron and a set up the install within a few days. They spent about 5 hours on a Saturday laying the floor including replacement of the baseboard. Looks awesome, was quicker and cheaper than the competition. Plan on using them for the rest of the floor work we want to do. read more

We had our engineered hardwood floors in our 1st floor office refinished and stained a darker color. We also had our 2nd floor living room hardwood floors refinished and stained along with the staircase leading to the 2nd floor. Aaron also installed new shoe moldings in white to bring out the darker hardwood floors and stained all appropriate trims and bevels to match. Aaron called me right back when I left a message indicating I was looking for someone to refinish floors in my new home. I did not close on the house yet but Aaron said he would be happy to show up during our final walkthrough on our closing day. He saw our engineered wood floors in our office and said we had 1 refinish on the floors and that would be it so we had to make it count and choose something we would be happy with for a very long time. He showed us pictures of his previous clients' floors in the color scheme we were looking for and promptly emailed us his final bid that afternoon. The consultation took roughly 25 minutes and he was very thorough and even walked us through the process. The most important part was how honest he was. He saw the pictures we showed him and told us he can get it to look 95% close to the pictures but we were looking at different types of wood floors in the pictures compared to ours. And he also pointed out some of the extremely dark floors we liked were either painted or used a paint mix which can look tacky in a home. Aaron gave us an estimate/bid on our floors that afternoon through email. True to his word, the quote was very competitive. It was to the point we felt like he was doing us a favor. We decided to go with Aaron for several reasons. He answered even more questions from us over the phone whenever we called him and would call us back immediately. His company was the only one to not be afraid of doing the engineered wood floors. Others said they would not even attempt it or flat out it couldn't be done. His price actually was lower than the competitors WITH the office space included. But cost isn't everything, we felt like Aaron was more hands on than other owners/salesman that talked to us. Aaron actually does the work and has firsthand knowledge of the process. I remember during our initial meeting he apologized for his hands being stained from just coming from a client's house he did some touchup work on. The entire process took only 2 days from start to finish. His guys showed up early which is always nice, usually as the clients we're the ones waiting for the cable guy to show up, the painter, the window guy, etc. But his guys were sitting in the driveway waiting for us (we did not live there yet at the time). Everyone was very professional and we did a demo of colors and finishes that only took a few minutes. They blocked off the rest of the house and when they finished we did not notice very much dust anywhere. I know this is usually a big issue but we just did a light clean of the adjacent kitchen and everything was good as new. The best part was how I would receive texts and personal phone calls from Aaron and his guys as the work was being completed. I felt like they wanted me to know everything was going smoothly and they were taking care of my house like it was theirs. I had plenty of updates on the progress and received texts back promptly. Aaron did not ask to be paid until the work was completed. This shows how much he stands behind his work. You cannot help but break out the checkbook when you see the quality of his work and the results of him and his crew's work on flooring. He followed up again to make sure we were happy with the color after it was dry. The pictures I attached are actually when the poly-satin finish was very wet. It dried much darker and with barely any gloss. He gave us tips on cleaning also to keep the finish new for as long as possible. We are definitely going to go back to Aaron when we have other flooring needs and updates in our home. You should at the very least get an estimate from Aaron. We met Mr. Goodman of AG Construction, after upstairs leak cost two interior walls and about 850 ft.² of flooring in our basement. From the initial quote to the final invoice, they have the flooring business down to a science. We found Mr. Goodman to be very patient, knowledgeable, extremely professional throughout the entire process. Out of the seven contractors who chose to bid the project, the pricing submitted by AG Construction was competitive and fair. But, ultimately, it was the overall professionalism they displayed and the willingness to go "above and beyond" the call with guidance and advice that won AG Construction our business. I'm a total novice when it comes to things like home remodeling so I tend to ask a lot of questions and would lean on the recommendations and opinions of professionals. Out of all the contractors who came to give us an estimate, Mr. Goodman was the only one who took the time to walk me through the process step-by-step, including everything that would need to be done and not just the flooring. He gave us the benefit of a family owned construction business by pointing out several potential "gotchas" and things to look out that had nothing to do with the flooring. We picked this firm because of the reviews, so NEVER expected what happened to us. Aaron, the owner, prides himself on his responsiveness and desire to do a good job. That doesn't translate into his technicians doing a good job. While refinishing our family room and kitchen hardwoods, they dropped a heavy piece of equipment on the floor and severely dented the hardwood. (NOTE: we didn't discover the huge dent to a marble tile in the entry way until much later). Anyway, the first fix was to replace followed by a VERY poor restaining job. When Aaron came by and saw the first fix, his words were "this looks like crap". We couldn't have agreed more. The next team came out to do the second fix. While the sanding was done well, they stained; then put the top clear coat on and stained again OVER it. We ended up with five boards right at the entrance to the family rool that are gritty looking and extra shiny. While Aaron only charged us half of the quote for the work that wasn't the point. Neither was Aaron's last email saying he was sorry that they didn't give us a perfect floor wasn't the point. We didn't expect perfection. We also didn't expect such a poor job not to be fixed. We are now in search of SOMEONE who will be willing to fix an eight foot by one foot area of hardwood because apparently AG Construction has decided not to come back and do it. ADDITIONAL COMMENT: I never said I only wanted English speakers in my home. That is an inaccurate and defamatory comment, which needs to be removed or legal action will be necessary. What I said was that the lead technician who worked on the floor, dropped the equipment and did the poor first fix was not someone I wanted to return and try again. Aaron said that individual (lead technician) was "having personal problems" and he finally relented to send someone else out for the second fix. During that second fix, Aaron showed up for about 5 - 10 minutes to translate to the new team what was needed. After he left, we did have issues communicating with Aaron's team as it was a struggle for us to understand the steps, which didn't align with what Aaron told us in terms of wait time between layers. Once we thought the decision was to "let it dry", the technicians went outside, came back and began to apply another coat of stain over the area which wasn't what we thought was going to happen. I was upstairs in the office and heard them still here and came down to find this going on! Our Spanish speaking housecleaning lady, who has been with me for almost 20 years was working here that day and tried to assist in communicating with Aaron's senior lead. She kept shaking her head though the ordeal and told me I should call the owner. Aaron never came back to our house to see what how the second fix turned out. The fact that he now (on yelp) is offering a THIRD fix is surprising. He does have my phone number, so if he calls to actually schedule a follow-up, I'll let everyone in the yelp-o-sphere know that he really does want to make good on the work and it isn't just a good deal of on-line bravado. read more

It looks like a restored floor with lots a variations in tone, i.e. it has lots of character and it's exactly what I wanted. Aaron, the owner of the company, is knowledgeable, professional, has good ideas without pushing them on you, and is very responsive. Coordinating the date of the work with a recommended mover to get the furniture out of the rooms to be treated was easy. The crew arrived earlier than the announced time, but waited precisely until 7:30AM to knock on the door. They showed us some sample finishes on a sanded portion of the floor before we left, just to be sure that we were happy with the look (even though we had already chosen natural wood with a clear water based polyurethane). Aaron kept tabs with us throughout the work, and typically responded immediately to questions when not with another customer. They finished the work early with no compromise to quality. And while there will always be a little of that fine dust from the sanding that finds it's way into things, probably from the AC, they covered everything in the affected rooms in plastic and cleaned up afterwords. The kitchen cabinets were completely sealed off and no dust got in there. The floors look amazing!! A couple of groups quoted a wide spread of pricing, but when Aaron came by to take a look it was pretty clear he knew what he was doing and would give us a fair price. The floors look fantastic, with uniform stain color and two finishing coats. In addition, the molding they added have sharp, tight miter joints. Best of all, they cleaned up very well after themselves and left no mess at all. The price was very reasonable for the quality I received, so I am happy there, too.
