i was referred to him and sadly never read any of these reviews but guess what? Nothing is exaggerated in these reviews. This guy is a flat out jerk. He has no business dealing with people, especially people who are in pain, suffering and are looking for help. If you get referred to him turn around, find someone else. He is absolutely terrible. I don't know, he might have a mental disorder because of the way he is so disrespectful and condescending to patients just seeking help. This Drs is horrible. FIND ANOTHER DR. while waiting in a room I heard him yelling at a staff member about it being his office and they will do it the way he wants it done. He was rude and unprofessional. Said he would send in my prescription to the Tucson Va. this was back in January 2025, now it is almost November and I still do not have the medication. I have talked to their office so many times I have lost count. I am looking into filing a complaint with the VA and the Medical board. If You think I am over reacting look at his review rating and the shady practices people are accusing him of. It is ridiculous the VA uses doctors with this bad of a rating. Do not go with this Doctor. Listen to the other reviews and don't put your health at risk. Doctor Affue is a horrible doctor. He will ask you what is wrong and the interrupt you because he is already assuming the diagnosis with even looking at the problem. When you ask questions he will get upset and make facial expressions to show you he is not happy. They will charge your insurance Quest laboratory test but he won't provide the results to you. You just keep getting charges on your insurance. He does not care, he is there just to make money. His staff was nice and you can tell some of them hate working under him. Trust the other reviews. Very Rude. Staff and doctor unresponsive. Information provided not truthful of useful. Long office wait time even though I was the only patient in the office ... 1 hour+ (no other patients seemed to be in the office either. He actually watched me sit in the lobby for 35 minutes. I'd never met him so I didn't realize the guy in the small office with a window was actually Dr, Affue. He came up to the front desk and I think he deliberately told the office staff to leave the desk and ignore me. I could hear them watching TV and laughing ... and it wasn't lunch hour. read more

Thanks to Dr Affue I lost my kidney 6/19/17, at my young age of 43. I had been seeing him for 5+ years for painful chronic kidney infections and he never did anything to resolve the issue. All he did was prescribe antibiotics, pain killers and periodically place a stent. I would cry help to him and his response "is crying going to resolve anything". I would ask why the reoccurring infections with/without stent, "my ureter was too thin". I finally decided to go to San Diego and within days they figured out the problem and solution to my chronic kidney infections, unfortunately my kidney was severely damaged, with a 7.6% functionality due to all the kidney infections, it had to be removed. Such a terrible experience and one of the women I spoke to on the phone was extremely rude. The medical care given here is questionable at best. I'm honestly confused as to how they can still be in business and I highly recommend that anyone considering this office reconsider and choose a different place. I have read the other reviews and that was enough to stop me from going back to Dr. Affue. I have been there a couple of times and while I have not been formally treated by him, it was because I could not obtain the paperwork from his staff to get the labs needed to get the diagnostics needed (CT) to confirm a diagnosis. With his staff it is sheer insanity. I finally gave up and let it go. Later it was my neurologist who wrote the orders for the labs so I could get the CT and obtain a diagnosis. I agree with the other reviews. His staff are rude, unprofessional, and the entire system just does not work. Many people have the same appointment times so the wait is quite long. I cannot fairly judge his medical skills because we never got to the point of treatment due to an inability to get a lab requisition. Again, sheer insanity. More insanity, today I requested I chat with Dr. Affue on the phone. I really believed as a business owner he should know why he is losing business. I was told he does not speak to patients. I can't talk to him and they flat out refused to even write a simple note to him that I called. They explained my *ONLY* option was to make an appointment (Obviously charging my ins co for a totally non medical issue) and tell him about it then. That office.... Unprofessional. Mass. First time visitor. It was a long wait & the receptionist was extremely rude! Not only was she rude she was extremely unprofessional, looked unprofessional & lacked social skills! The only good thing about my visit was the Doctor himself & his nurses. They were all extremely nice & helpful. I have been in the Health Care field for over 30 years as an Office Administrator have work for over 15 Drs and have never had to deal with one with such an arrogant, condescending and uncaring personality. The way he speaks to you and addresses your health issues in such a "take it or leave it" tone is so unethical. He lacks professionalism yet his office waiting is standing room only because unfortunately most of his patients have no other choice. I attended ALL of my husband's appointments with him, we didn't choose Dr Affue, he was the on call Dr at the ER. I Witnessed his childish behavior first hand. Because we disagree with him he has now refused to complete a treatment he started, sounds like patient abandonment to me? He has not heard or seen the last of me. No dr should be allowed to disregard patient care! If you have a choice don't see this man, he has forgotten his Doctor vows, Shame on him no stars none for him! read more

I teach at the local college and can tell you that I would have been dragged before the administration if I had treated a student with the callous rudeness and disrespect with which Affue treats his patients.This was the worst experience I've ever had with a doctor in my entire life. I actually had no issues with the staff. They were nice enough. Affue himself was the problem. He took my medical history and I told him that I have severe asthma. He then started questioning me like a detective with a guilty suspect, which confused me. It turned out that the chart code said that I had emphysema, and he apparently thought I was trying to keep that information from him (my general doctor later said that the codes had recently changed and that this particular code was supposed to be for asthma and not emphysema). I informed him that I did not suffer from that condition, to which he kept replying "well the chart says you do," with increasing animosity in his voice. He also kept pointing to the chart (on the computer). I pointed out that I would probably know better than the chart whether I had a severe illness, to which he replied "well maybe you have it, and maybe you don't." He became combative when I kept insisting that I didn't have that condition, and that I wanted him to have the correct information. I feel bad for anyone who comes in and actually has emphysema, as this doctor apparently believes that the best way to deal with someone who has that condition is to be rude and unprofessional. I then asked him whether he was the doctor (because he wasn't wearing a coat and I couldn't imagine a doctor acting this way). I figured he might have been someone else whose job was to take medical histories. He acted like I was insulting him and responded "who else would I be?" When I told him I just wanted his help and that I didn't understand why he was being so combative and unprofessional, his response was to say "You're combative and unprofessional!" like a child on the schoolyard. He took the rest of the history and had me wait. After a few minutes I realized I could never trust a petty and childish "doctor" like this man. When I then tried to leave, his staff told me that I had engaged in a consultation and owed them $60. I asked how ten minutes of rude and unprofessional behavior constituted a consultation, but they insisted. I paid them, which I regret. This man is a terrible doctor. I've been to many doctors over the years due to my asthma, and most of them have been professional, affable, knowledgeable people. Most of them have a personality of kind but confident authority, and they always seem above the kind of pettiness that this man presented. My friends and colleagues keep saying that maybe he was just having a bad day. Perhaps, but in his profession perhaps more than any other, I think you need to check the bad days at the door. I would give this Dr. and his "staff" zero stars if yelp allow let me. When I first walked in I was greeted by the receptionists looking at me and then going back to what they were doing. About 45 seconds of that, I finally asked where I could sign in for my scheduled appointment. One receptionist handed me a clip board without even looking at me. They over schedule patients clearly because its the way doctors in Imperial Valley make more money. As I was called inside I felt like patients were just cattle being herded through their office. The doctor saw me for approximately 2/12 minutes and left, having his assistant come back and tell me what follow up tests I needed. I was at Dr. Affues office for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I will not be going back and have someone consider another doctor. The worst part of the visit were the doctors assistants TOTALLY unprofessional and should remember they are there to assist patients. read more

Worst experience I have every had at a doctor's office. ALL staff were rude, including Dr. Affue. I waited 2 1/2 hours only to be told by Dr. Affue to come back with some scans, that the technician reports were useless to him. He interrupted me, telling me that the reports sent by the referring Dr. were "useless" and he was very insensitive. I will not go back. read more

If I want to be abused and have someone make you feel like crap about myself, go see your EX or this Doctor. Rude, condescending and horrible bed side manner. And a money scheme too. You will undergo unnecessary painful treatments such as shrinking your prostate with microwaves when medications orally can help as-well. The staff is rude but who wouldn't working for that man. Not one once from empathy came from this man when my father got cancer. He got treated poorly and when he had lost control of the case he referred him out. RIP dad. HE gave me less than 2 minutes per visit and charged my insurance thousands over time. Seriously, just drive to San Diego or palm springs. make a day of out it, enjoy a new city and weather. anything is better than wasting your time on a man who doesn't care about his patients. read more
