Not my kind of turkey hunting. The "ranch" that we hunted on was approximately 75 acres and does not hold any turkeys on it. Your only hunting choice is to sit in a ground blind from daylight to dark in hopes that a turkey will walk be. I realize that it it hunting and not killing but this is not my kind of turkey hunting. We paid for a 3 day hunt and left half way through the second day because we had not seen nor heard 1 turkey during our hunt (2 people). I give the accommodations 1/2 of a star. read more

Sad excuse for a Hog Hunt Outfitter. 3 hunters, 2 days & did not see a single hog! "Guide" was just a "taxi" service to & from the blinds. The cabin assigned was pretty bad -- old propane stove with no pilot light, no matches, & ran out of propane through our second meal. (Obviously, nobody checked the tank.) Sign by the only toilet, "our septic tank isn't working well, so deposit your used toilet paper in the wastebasket beside the toilet." 2 days later you can imagine how it smelled! He was prompt on pick up and drop off times and very knowledgeable. He was upfront and honest about the Bucks they had been seeing on camera. I got a beautiful 8 pointer that Wyatt came to help Daniel look for and my Uncle got a big 9. Couldn't have asked for a better guide or outfitter for our first Texas hunt. won a 2 night hog hunt thru Beards with Benefits, contacted Mr. James and started comms about getting out. We confirmed a date and he routinely updated via text trail pics and instructions on the upcoming hunt. When I arrived Wyatt was assigned as my guide and got me settled into the cabin, then he went over the bating areas and hunting times based on camera footag, both nights saw pigs come out and on the second night I harvested a boar. My wife and I got home tonight from a weekend at Affordable Outfitters. We were on what my wife likes to call our "hunting-moon". 14 years together, 10 years married, we'd never really had one. We were very comfortable in a little cabin by ourselves. It was rustic, but nice for a couple to get away from it all. We were given the information to get in contact with our guide, Wyatt. He is a great young man and he helped us to get settled in for some hunting time. My wife stayed at the cabin and I went out for my first true hunting trip since I was a kid. I have to say that I was pretty green, but Wyatt helped me to get set up. I read a lot of things about hunting before this trip. I actually came in contact with quite a few deer and turkey. If it had been the right season, I'd have hit the jackpot . But I wasn't discouraged by my inability to bring in my first hog. I remembered reading that a feeder is not the same thing as a dinner bell. No matter how wild animals act one day, there's no way to know that's how they will act the next. At 106 degrees I had picked the hottest days of the year to go after an animal with no sweat glands to cool off. There really was no way to determine whether or not they would even be around when I wanted them to be. I know from listening to stories from my dad that no hunt is a "sure thing." When one day didn't pan out, Wyatt did right by me and set me up in a different location and enhanced the lights for me so my scope (which was NOT thermal or night vision) could be effective for a night hunt. Hot as it was late into the evening, I really wasn't surprised that the hogs chose not to venture out of their closest, coolest feeding areas. Despite not getting a hog on this attempt, I still have to say that my wife and I had a great time! We can always try again. We had some really quality alone time (hard to get with 7 kids and 6 grandbabies.) We were very comfortable in our cabin and Wyatt was such a thoughtful young man, it was a pleasure getting to know him. Our weekend was a great success because we had each other and we concentrated on the fact that family was far more important on our "hunting-moon."
