I HAVE SEARCHED THE WORLD A MILLION TIMES OVER FOR MY ANDY BLUM & THEY ARE NOT TO BE PARALLELED…read more FOR REAL. I get massages weekly or bi-monthly. I work hard and I treat myself but I also need to take care of my body. I've been seeing Andy for about 10 years now. I saw her first in the Bay Area for severe carpal tunnel-esque complications from typing in my lower right hand/arm. After one session, it was gone and I've never returned to a wrist brace. I also suffer from teeth grinding/TMJ and she gave me special attention there which I had never experienced. Then a few years later I got hit by a car. She worked with me for two years after, realigned my body (mostly hips), and helped restore feeling in my lower back side after severe muscle, tissue, and nerve damage. I saw her for general massage after until she moved to Portland, Oregon. Luckily, I go to PDX often and have seen her there where she's still the best. She really has an unparalleled knowledge of anatomy and healing modalities/techniques. I have gone to fancy spas in St. Helena, Calistoga, San Francisco, Asheville, NYC, New Mexico, etc etc. She is THE ONE. A true healer. She listens to what you say, focuses on those areas, doesn't do filler nonsense- she works on you THE WHOLE time and is fully present, not just going through the motions. To this day, I feel cheated every time I get massaged by anyone else. Also, she is super safe and warm. My body relaxes around her and lets her in to do the healing. Magick heart and hands!

I cannot recommend Andy Blum enough!! If there were 10 stars available or if I could review her…read moretwice, I would. I'm not a person that gets massages often. I've had some good massages--that was nice, I feel relaxed, sort of thing. I've also had some bad massages--please stop, you're hurting me & next day sore & bruised terribly sort of thing. The massage Andy Blum gave me, and I do mean gave, it was truly a gift, was beyond amazing. It was so entirely intuitive, immersive, deep, consistent, & fluid. It was very much like having a warm, healing presence swim through your body. I was so comfortable during the entire experience I could have easily fallen asleep, but, I didn't want to miss a moment of it so I actually tried to stay awake! {okay--I drifted a few times-momentarily} I will be back, without a doubt!!

For me, massage is an integral part of my health care. I choose my healthcare providers carefully and I would choose Veronica over and over again.

I made the appointment weeks in advance because I knew there was an expiration date on the groupon and I drove 35 minutes to get there! Wouldn't waste the time or money with Balanced Body Therapeutics!

You are going to get one-on-one time spent prior to your massage so he can learn about you and what issues you may be having. Rather than the typical "what type of pressure you want?" question Gary actually takes the time to get to know you, find out what problem areas you might have, inquires about how you spend a typical day i.e. sitting in front of a computer and then goes to work on those areas. He specializes in helping people with migraines and has been successful in helping relieve and/or eliminate migraine pain.

There is less pain, but I also feel more in touch with my body. He was able to help me see ways that I could heal my own body. The session was more than just a massage. Gary invited me to tell my story. His receptive, nonjudgmental demeanor made me feel at ease. I felt open enough to share my thoughts and discovered some of the reasons I might be holding on to pain in my neck and shoulders. The massage itself was exceptional. I was moved to tears with the therapeutic touch I received. If other massages were like someone beating down a door to get it open, this felt like he had located the stuck lock and had the long lost key to open it. His intuitive connection found all of the areas that needed attention.

After my spinal fusion I was nervous to see a chiropractor, but I knew I really needed it and I'm so glad I went to Back Alley! * In the first visit, Dr. Don takes you to a separate private room to discuss your issues and needs without other clients overhearing. As a woman, I tend to be nervous to be alone in rooms with men I don't know, but Dr. Don was SO professional, and he left the door open as if he sensed my nervousness. He really hears you out and doesn't rush you - a rarity in the medical world * He works FAST and tells you what he's doing before/while he does it. He even tells you WHY he's doing what he's doing, which is cool for anyone interested in physiology. * Dr. Don chats with you and actually remembers the things you tell him. You can tell he's invested in his patients' lives and knows them well. * The place is clean and the receptionists are friendly. I thought the set-up was a little wonky at first, since it's one big open room with the chiropractic tables and I'm used to being in private rooms. I actually like and prefer this set-up. Something about it feels friendly. * Wait time is never too long, and you get in and out fairly quickly, even without an appointment.

Not to mention, his bedside manner is so friendly. If I don't come in for months on end, he still remembers me in a very personable way. He is so sweet and so is the co-owner/doctor... (Dr. Shipley) who is also amazing. Once I was walking and I slipped off the curb. The next day my back was totally out to where I could barely walk. Dr. Don was on vacation, so Dr. Shipley saw me and did something I never had done before. The result: I was totally fixed. So to sum up, both of these guys would be a good choice if you're needing some adjustment. Finally, one last note, they did move their office from near Costco on the north side of town, to the Oro Valley location. Since they moved in there, they do have an adjustment and that is shared with about eight other people. At first I didn't care for this, but since they are the only two in town that can get me back on track and in shape, I have adjusted to it :-).
