Operated under the Hilton brand, the hotel is currently owned by Virginia Tech. The mammoth facility has a Conference Center suitable for hosting large conventions, including banquet rooms, meeting rooms and guest rooms. Hotel Roanoke was the site of a large convention that I was a part of for many years. Serving as Vice Convention Chair for several years, I found the staff extremely easy to work with in both the planning and the event itself. Serving as Convention Pianist prior to that I found the pianos well tuned and positioned as requested. Checking in was easy even with the large amount of arriving guests. A special check in desk was available for Hilton Honors members, along with the appropriate amenities provided. Guest rooms were comfortable and roomy. Banquet meals were excellent and as requested. Dining was also available in different areas for meals not in the Conference Center. Check out for large groups was handled well. The years that I served as State Treasurer, the Convention billing was detailed and handled with efficiency, allowing both myself and the Finance Chairman to assure its accuracy. The floor was damp from the humidity. There was what appeared to be mold on the bathroom walls. The room was fairly humid during the time we were there. These little kindnesses really do make it a more comfy stay. And people forget to drink enough water in the wintertime! We were passing through town and needed only a quick stop and at a little more than 100 bucks/night, I was impressed with the value. I haven't stayed in a lot of Residence Inns, but the few times I have, I think, would I be able to deal with an extended stay? I think I could here, given the size of the rooms and there's a big lobby with couches and fireplace as well as a decent (small gym). The bed is very comfortable with good sheets. I wouldn't want to cook up a serious meal but the kitchen would allow for basic dishes. The living room space has a little set up with a decent sized TV. They allow pets. One thing we ran into was the walls were thin and we could hear a barking dog and people right next to us. Luckily they were able to move us. Other than that, a good stay, in and out with a full night's rest before getting back on the road. I'd definitely opt to stay here again when making this annual road trip between NY and NOLA.

Told a lie that they always let us check in early but have only done so ONCE. Why lie about something so minor? That made me very upset. The person who told this lie is Shaquita. 2 - Snow incident (01.04.2026) - Called my hotel room and Asked me to move my car to a specific spot (that they chose) so the man could clear out the snow in that area. To ask us to park in a specific area that is covered in ice is not only idiotic, dumb, ignorant, but immensely dangerous and unsafe. I called the front desk to say I am unable to park there and explained why. They asked me to park my car randomly in the middle of the entrance way and leave it there while the man finishes clearing out the snow. To ask me to leave my car on an ice filled entrance sitting up on a slight hill is again idiotic, not smart and unsafe. Tony nonchalantly claimed he was going to call the police. He told his manager that he called the police, but we firmly do not believe this.
