Stephen Batchelder and his team were fantastic! They were not the cheapest nor were they the most expensive. In fact, they are very affordable but that is not why I chose them. They were used by several of my neighbors and the quality was excellent and they worked very hard. But, the main reason I chose them was Stephen. He was honest and forthright during the job evaluation and quote. I had Affordable Asphalt excavate and replace my driveway and walkway. Stephen was a pleasure to work with and he and his crew did a great job from start to finish. Getting a quote was easy and getting the job scheduled was easier than expected. Everything was done per the quote: removing old pavement and sublayer, adding crushed stone, compacting, 2" basecoat and then 1-1/2" final coat. If I had known it was this easy I would have done it a few years ago (the chipmunks and their tunnels here are ridiculous). I have already had a few neighbors compliment the job on how nice it looks. Do yourself a favor and at least get a quote from Steve. I am hard to please and wanted value for my money, that said, Steve came out right away and gave me the best quote. He made great suggestions to my ideas to expand the driveway and installed it correctly with proper underlayment and thick layer of asphalt. He scheduled me in right way as well. Some companies with cut corners to keep price down, these guys did it correctly. Steve emphasized no payment until I was completely satisfied, which I was. I am so happy I have him coming back to do some landscaping work soon. When the owner works hand in hand with the crew to ensure the job is done right, it is a good sign that he takes pride in his work. read more

Completely scammed and left with a falling apart driveway after a few months. 10k down the drain. Had topcoat in the quote and it wasn't done. I regret every minute of using this company. Save yourself the trouble and use a well known company even if they charge more!We are trying to get this settled with better business Bureau. read more

Bob is horrible at communicating and his team was drinking (drunk) on the job while operating heavy machinery during the job. (I have surveillance footage to back this up.) Bob charged my credit card $2500 more than our contractual agreement citing costs to repair damage which his employees caused to begin with. After texting him the video of his team drunk on the job operating heavy equipment he messaged me he was in a meeting and would call me the next day... I have yet to hear back from Bob. At first I was excited because Affordable Asphalt has tons of great reviews... I have learned the hard way that this company is your typical Paving company scam. Bob and the team from Affordable did a great job on our driveway! We were getting our house ready for sale and Affordable was quick to get the job done and done well. When I wanted something else added to the end of the drive, they came back, confirmed what I wanted, and quickly completed the job to perfection. This is a 3rd generation of paving contractors in the Manchester area, run by two brothers. They show up on time. Write a thorough estimate. Brought 8 guys with them to the job. Absorbed the overrun cost when they got through 3 layers of asphalt covering 6" of old hidden concrete on a 100 year old property. Efficiently run, worked straight through till 5:00pm leaving the property immaculately clean. I recommend them without reservation. read more

After agreeing to a price and installation date Bob repeatedly rescheduled the installation date. We finally agreed to a date 9/22 he did not show up and did not call. Repeated calls and text messages from contractor went unanswered, so I, the homeowner called. I spoke with him twice first time he said he would call back later in the day-he did not. After many more calls and text messages he finally called said he would call in the morning to schedule a date, He is over 24 hours late returning that call at this point. UNBELIEVABLE read more

I had called quite a few companies for estimates. A few companies couldn't even be bothered to return my call. The 3 companies that did call me back we set up estimates for. Affordable stood out from the other two because the owner, Bob, had just great customer service. He and his brother own the business. Bob was such a down to earth guy. In the end, they did a GREAT job on our driveway. We've seen other driveways done by other companies and we felt as though Affordable just did a better job, compared to them. This was a very pleasant experience. My husband and I do not rush into large projects, looking at the costs, etc. Bob was very gracious to come out to the house a couple of times in the last 2 years to quote us a price. We had the old driveway completely taken up and redone. Bob is a great guy and the quote that was given was very good.
