I am very sorry for the unpleasant experience that you had at our learning center. I would like to apologize to you if my staff was not respectful to you on that day you were at our learning center. I will certainly instruct and train our staff to improve their communication with our students and their parents. From what you wrote on Yelp, there seems to be some misunderstanding on our practice regarding student learning: 1. Our program, Afficient Math, is a self-learning system with built-in demos to illustrate all the concepts and procedures. We encourage students to try their best to learn themselves before asking help from teachers and parents. We believe it is important to train students to have self-learning capabilities. On the other hand, if students do raise questions, or our staff notices that students encounter issues they cannot overcome themselves, our staff is expected to step in and resolve the issues promptly. I do want to apologize again if this was not clearly explained to you by our staff on that first day you came here, as well as the unpleasant experience you had. 2. Students can do Afficient Math anytime and anywhere on Internet. However, to ensure the quality of our program, students need to come to our learning center to advance the last proficiency level of the skills and to achieve the last score point before they reach their goal of the grade. We would like to ensure that, before students move onto the next grade level, they master all skills and reach the goal of each grade by themselves, and having questions they have regarding the grade all answered. 3. We offered two weeks of free trial for students and parents who needed more time to get know our program better. We hope they will sign up on our program if they find our program fits their needs. I am glad to hear, after more than a month, your kids are still doing Afficient Math from home. We happened to find Afficient Math in June last year. My son took some tests, and he started with Grade 2 and Grade 3, mainly for review. After one year, my son loves Afficient Math, and his Math skill advances about 2 grade levels comparing to his grade. We will continue with Afficient Math for my son. The following are good aspects that I would like to share with others. 1. As we know, even in Cupertino top elementary schools, students don't learn enough (both depth and breadth) math knowledge and skills. Afficient Math is a good learning center for the enhancement. Their product is self-paced, self-learning, online tool. Students can learn and practice at home, or at Afficient Math office. Students can do more during breaks and weekend. The pace is very flexible. 2. The online product provides all aspects of Math for elementary and middle school students, and they are developing contents for high school students. The product can trace the students' progress, and is very interactive. For example, if the student makes some mistakes in one topic, the tool will go back to that topic repeatedly, until student makes good understanding and progress. 3. The staff are nice and professional. My son really likes their staff and teachers. The teachers make sure students really understand Math concepts. When needed, teachers will provide hints, and ask students first try to review demos and learning by theirselves. This way, students will have deeper understandings. 4. They have yearly one to one conference with parents. Dr Fang will talk to each family, provide student's progress, and any feedback, etc. Plus, we can easily talk to Dr. Fang, and his staff/teachers, about concerns, progress, and suggestions. Afficient Academy is a much different kind of math course then anything I ever tried before, and the only reason why I wouldn't give it a 5 star is because of the questions themselves in they sometimes either repeat and I would always feel guilty knowing the answer, or how they sometimes don't accept what seems like to me to be the right answer. The demo also needs a little bit of work in how they explain the problem, as I sometimes get confused and need to find a tutorial online. Reading the other reviews, I can see that this is a love hate kind of course, and let me just explain that this academy only focuses on accuracy much more than any other aspect in math which is an overall good system if you wanna actually learn something. Go do the demos, do the assisted exercise, have an open mind, have a parent sit beside you, maybe jazz up some tunes, and most importantly, focus on getting them correct or else... And you'll be just fine and I can promise you that. (also, if you feel stressed about the academy, was that really the academies fault, or were you just playing video games the whole day, and now you have to go through the endless loop of hell and- ok nvm) read more

My daughter started learning math there last summer. Now, her math skill has been improved a lot. By following the ways they designed, she used about two months to finish grade 2 and grade 3 math lessons and tests, and another three more months to complete grade 4 math lessons and test. That means she grasped the required math skills a few months in advance compared to her current grade in her day school! We then encouraged her to continue beyond her grade, so she already started doing grade 5 math lessons a month ago. This tutor center provides an adaptive math learning system, which allows a student to learn on her own pace. lessons and tests are naturally combined. Students can choose when to do lessons and tests online at home, or in the tutor center classroom which is open in the weekday afternoon and the weekend. Students see their overall score changes each time completing a test. Another thing I feel very good is, I receive a weekly email report to know my daughter's progress regularly and in time. read more

This is a kid friendly, delightful, and enjoyable website for your kids to learn if their grades are low. This website contains everything you need for your children to learn and improve. Afficient English has a test when you first sign up for what grade you will be put in. There are grades 2nd-9th. Afficient English also contains vocabulary so your child will learn new words everyday. There are teachers in a zoom meeting everyday but holidays if your child is confused. There's also Demo and Assisted Practice. Which is questions about the topic. You as a parent will have a app to download to see your child's progress. There will be the time, points, and graph chart of a line. Which is the progress, of your child. This website is worth the money to get. I highly recommend this. And I have to say, my child's grade has gotten better. So if your child's grade is looking low I highly recommend this. read more

I signed up my daughter to the program a year ago. At Afficient she made tremendous progress in math, finished several grades within a year. We especially like the idea of computer guided self-learning. The algorithm identifies the weak points and assigns more exercise to make sure the students really master the concepts. Students can move forward at their own pace - and it's pretty fast with the nice prizes as motivation. The staff are all very helpful and encouraging. Just signed my younger kid. My son started few weeks ago, the program is very good, and improves a lot for his math skills. The tutor was helpful when my son had some issue, and solved the problems right away. Afficient Academy gives your child tests to see where they fall in the beginning, and will give your child the starting point of where they need to be. My daughter took a few months of English. She remembered lots of new words. The software won't let her pass until she fully memorized each word. There are many practices on readings, which is really helpful for her to improve her reading skills. Great leaning tool. Highly recommended. read more
