It's cozy, candles, fireplace, sheepskin on the chairs, friendly chef (good with kids) They serve a prix fixe menu First appetizers, followed by a Tarbot entree (which was great), main dish was a US beef entrecôte and a classic Dame Blanche for dessert. Minor downsides, we asked for extra fries and didn't get them, long wait. (And I'm personally not a big fan of slicing up an entrecôte before serving) Still think they earn 5 stars, and they are asking the right price for what they serve. Keep it up!

Coming back to Belgium, we were recommended to try out De Troubadour. We unknowingly came into this…read moreplace and only realized later that this was the restaurant we were recommended to try. The menu was pretty long, but I knew exactly what I wanted. Since this was one of the first restaurants we got to go to since our time back, we ordered mussels. I ordered the curry mosselen. The flavors were there, but I would say it was a bit muted. You get this huge pot of mussels, but the secret is that the broth and the flavors are always towards the bottom. So if you're trying to get all the flavor, head there first and then get some of the mussels that have been just sitting in that broth. Overall, I thought De Troubadour was great. I would definitely come back here and eat again. Service was very accommodating with families as well.

Usually with chocolate mousse you get a tiny shot glass. Here at Marktzicht you get two big scoops of it along with ice cream, whipped cream, and fruit. The service staff was friendly and the restaurant is bigger than it looks with seating outside and inside, but also in a courtyard on the backside.

Right after you get off the train, and you look across the square into downtown Leuven, you will see all these restaurants. Van de Weyer is the one tucked in the right corner. We got here early and enjoyed a couple of glasses out front before heading inside for a seat. There are two floors of seating and it does get busy. I ordered the Osso Bucco to try it out since this was one of our last meals in Belgium. It was tasty! I would say it wasn't as extravagant as it would be in the States, but you could definitely tell the different styles of preparing an Osso Bucco. Another thing that we realized was that this Brasserie had a lot of menu items that kind of did a fusion between Asian flavors and Belgian. I thought that was great, and if I lived here, I would definitely come here more often. The mussels with different type of flavors were eye catching and the one that was ordered at the table we all enjoyed. Overall, Van de Weyer was a great experience. If I were to come back, this will be on my list to go back and try since it's so close to the local transportation and we could easily get there.
