Fantastic bacaro (Venetian wine bar) with great drinks, delicious cicchetti (traditional Venetian snacks/appetizers), low prices, and outstanding friendly service.
Spent two days in Venice walking through the zoo of tourist promenades, sampling mediocre, high priced food. Sought out something off the beaten path and discovered the Cannaregio neighborhood and Ae Bricoe beyond the crowds, where Italian was the predominant language spoken and the city's beauty and tranquility were in full display.
Ae Bricoe is a family run business specializing in pork cicchetti (they have plenty of fish and even a few vegetarian options too). Our hostess was super friendly and educated us about the myriad cicchetti options so that my family found multiple delicious selections. Drinks were great too including a custom mocktail that she made for our youngest so that she didn't feel left out of the experience.
Ae Bricoe felt like the real Venice. Would strongly recommend a visit, even with the extra walking, and will definitely come back next time we visit the city. read more
