There are easy up to very difficult trails, there are bike trails, and they even will bring riders up to the top along with their bike. My guess is that my group traveled around 70+ miles over the two days I was there. Now I need to replace a busted tire and a bent rim. The Windrock campground is also quite large and clean. I stayed in a tent site that had plenty of room. The parking is setup to handle visitors with trailers and extra vehicles. The bathhouses are nice and the hot water is plentiful. Overall, I had a great time. The personnel I interacted with were really knowledgeable and friendly.

My buddy and I were biking to Myrtle Beach from Colorado and this was our last campsite before the last stretch in. We did a regular campsite right behind bathhouse #2 and let me tell you...10/10 would and will camp here again. Toilets, showers, open spaces, far enough away neighbors that aren't tent camping. That shower after 1300 miles on a motorcycle was THE best. Reserving the spot the day of our arrival was even better. The gal was very helpful and made the booking process so easy. The ONLY thing...it's a bit of a steep paved road, about 1/4 mile, to get from the road to the campgrounds. But, we made it up on our motorcycles and there were several toy haulers up here as well.

This is more of a boutique fly shop in comparison to the fly shop in Townsend. They also do not sell fishing licenses here. They do have good selection of packs waders and nets and nice amount of flies for the clinch, smokies and little river.

The staff were so friendly and really made the atmosphere feel warm and welcoming. The boat and bathrooms were very clean and maintained. The music was nice and we enjoyed the fun facts about Knoxville from the captain as well. The bar drinks were reasonably priced and absolutely delicious! This was perfect for our date night, but would also be the perfect family excursion. We cannot wait to be back in Knoxville, we will definitely be doing this again! About 10 years ago we took the same boat ride and traveled farther down the River. Along the route, a man narrated our short journey pointing out buildings and markers along the way--however, with diners carrying on conversations, background music playing, dishes clanking and the engines roaring, it was difficult to hear even half of what he said. Again, the buffet lunch tasted fine, nothing outstanding, yet the chicken appeared to be seasoned with pepper and maybe a bit of salt. Perhaps a Chicken Piccata with slices of lemon in a creamy sauce or chicken-broth-seasoned sauce would have been more creative. The stewed cinnamon-sugar apples with pastry, served warm in the buffet might have been offered at the end of the food line as a dessert and in a separate dish. Instead, it appeared after the buttery biscuits and before the cold pasta salad with cucumbers and tomatoes and the hot carrots and corn. Overall, perhaps the paddle wheeler is an excellent experience for a first-time rider and a wonderful party venue for special events like weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. Having sailed twice before, this $45 per person ride (there were 4 of us) needed a more clearly-heard narration, a longer ride, and perhaps more creative food. Kudos to the servers, though! This employee denied the fact that historically, access to the waterfront was unrestricted and made denigrating comments about homeless people. For context: - the rental was not yet open - no customers or workers were at the dock area or on the ramp - Mead's Quarry itself is public land I will never rent from this company, and I encourage you to rent from somewhere else and/or paddle at the free, public Ijams dock on the Tennessee River instead. Knoxville shouldn't lease public land to a private company that polices its citizens.

We loved our adventure with Robert AKA "Hoss," and came away with memories to last a lifetime!…read more A friend and I met him and followed him to the boat ramp, where we shipped out early on a Saturday morning. Hoss set up all the equipment we'd need and talked us through the process, as this was our first time to fish for striped bass. We had a blast! We caught 5 fish that morning, from 5-20 pounds each, and had a great time talking with Hoss in between reeling in the fish. We ended the day around 11. Hoss also said that he also does trophy fishing, so we may do that next time we use his guiding service (fewer catches, but what you do catch is pretty dern big). Can't wait to go back!
