If you're not familiar with the keys it's a little hard to find the location, but Jen (our guide) was beyond helpful and was always quick to answer my phone calls. You'll be parking your car behind her set up of paddleboards. There's no parking fee and I'd say it's a safe place to park. We left our cars there and nothing happened not to mention she left her boards there as well. I would recommend wearing sandals and shorts since you'll be walking through a few puddles. If you get cold easily wear a light sweater and bring some mosquito repellant. She also does a quick instructional session for those who are new, but in terms of conditions the water is very still and shallow throughout most of the tour so this is perfect for newbies. She's got a good eye so she found tons of crabs, barracudas, nurse sharks, jellyfish, and so many lobsters!! You get to go through mangroves as well as between houses and a little out into the ocean. We went after it rained a little and the sky became crystal clear with stars and the moon. Just absolutely beautiful! The price is $60 for the night tour per board doesn't matter tandem/single kayaks or paddleboards. She can also rent out and deliver to you the boards for $40 for 24 hours which is crazy, because 90% of places charge you $30 for 1-3 hours max. Double check me on the price though! If you do the night tour just remember to call ahead of time. We got lucky and called and went the same day where someone already scheduled for the night, but if they don't have reservations ahead of time they won't have someone available to do the tour.

There was an older woman in the group who could not keep up and only after I expressed my concern about her did they double back and help her. No kayaking instruction, no nature instruction other than what not to touch under the mangroves. The guide played music and paddled away over and over at a rate that left the novice paddlers far behind. Consider checking skill levels of the group, stopping for regular check-ins, perhaps teaching about nature a bit?

On a boat charter personally arranged by a lovely girl called Claire we had an incredible day at sea. We parked on a sand bar as deep as my knees. Aquablue Adventures brought the boat to Islamorada sandbar, the music and most importantly unlimited shots of Fireballs just in case u need a little warm up. The vibe is ... put a bathing suit, get in the water and relax as you will have arrived in Paradise. Oh and if you forget to pack a lunch bag not to worry - there is a floating food truck parked right there with burgers and hot dogs. The boat was spacious and clean which I appreciated. Customer service was timely and professional.

He didn't have a totally canned routine, rather assessed my knowledge of kites, wind, etc and taught me accordingly. I never felt like I was bored, nor did I ever feel lost. Unfortunately, the wind died and we weren't able to launch the kite but I did learn a lot. Aaron comes highly recommended.

Had a great time snorkeling last Monday with the Pirates Cove crew. Seeing all the fish at the…read moreJohn Pennekamp Park coral reef was amazing; many different species of colorful fish, and frequent barracuda sightings. Some people also saw a sea turtle and sting ray. We snorkeled at two sites, one with a submerged Jesus statue. Although we were only in 10-20 feet of water, the water was so clear that we could've seen the bottom clearly if it had been much deeper. They provide inflatable life vests that you can put just enough air into to give yourself a little extra buoyancy. They also provide swim fins, masks and snorkels. The ride out and back to dock was pleasant on their large pontoon boat. The boat captain and "Scuba Steve" really made the trip fun. They kept it lite and fun the whole time, cracking dad jokes and goofing on each other. I'd absolutely go snorkeling with Pirates Cove again!
