The independently owned record store is an increasingly rare sight to behold, and it speaks well of…read morethis particular one that it's survived this long (and even prospered). Nestled in the quiet of downtown Dillon, located below another local institution - Pug Ryan's Microbrewery and Restaurant - Affordable offers the kind of classic experience which is impossible to replicate at music chains, let alone the major box stores. Walking into the store, one is greeted with knick-knacks and incense, quickly followed by a small but well-chosen collection of instruments and accessories for sale. From entry level cheapie guitars to beautiful higher-end models, I've had the pleasure of hearing many a local come in and play some great music simply because they could. Deeper into the store, one find rack after rack of compact discs, both new and used. Areas of the store are also devoted to other formats, with new and used vinyl spilling out all around and even sections devoted to cassette tapes - both used and factory sealed! Heck, there's even an 8-track section. A comfortable old couch is set up with cd players to create a relaxing listening station for anyone who wants to hang out and sample some tunes. The man behind the counter is owner, operator and clerk for the store. A classic mountain local of a kind increasingly difficult to find - too much Old West in him to be a Californian hippie, but too laid back to be from Denver or parts east - I've gotten many quality recommendations of great music from him and he has the kind of personal touch which is what makes these kinds of stores so worthwhile. On any given trip, it's almost impossible not to encounter a few locals hanging out at the store, chatting with the owner and perusing the music selection. This is the kind of place where the community gathers to socialise while they support their local economy. It's not just the quality and depth of the music selection - although that certainly helps - but the kind of attention and warmth the customer receives while he's in the store. It's clear that for the folks of Affordable Music, finding the right piece of the music for the person in the store isn't just a job but a way of life. I count myself a loyal customer of the store, and hope to be able to continue shopping there for many years to come. P.S. Make sure to ask about the local buying program, where you get free music after buying a certain amount. I've taken advantage of it a number of times, but sometimes the folks at the store forget to ask if you're enrolled.

His dog macaroni was super cute and just hung out outside. My husband and I had a hard time leaving with only 5 vinyls haha. This is one of those hidden gems if you are into vinyl records. The store is great because you…read moredon't have to drive into the city to find a great selection of high-quality records. It's in a strip mall just east of Kipling off of Coal Mine in Littleton. What makes this place nicer than most I've visited is the albums are well organized and of high quality. I was looking for an old Traffic album. I found a few copies and each was priced between $12 and $18 based on their quality. I like that there is different pricing because it lets me know which is the best copy. I got the one for $18 and it's perfect. The vinyl quality was beautiful and I've played both sides many times already. The album looks and sounds like it's brand new even though it's from the 1970s. Looking through his selections you can tell Joe is very picky as to the quality of albums he buys. The covers are in great condition and each record is in its own plastic sleeve. He takes his vinyl seriously. Half of the store is dedicated to the records. The other half looks like old DVDs, books, jewelry, antiques, trinkets, and memorabilia. Honestly, I was just interested in the vinyl so I just glossed over the other half of the store. But if you're into vinyl records (albums and 45s) this store is well worth a trip to check it out!

They then falsely claim they sold it for much lower when they actually sold it for much higher, and then they also change your commission share falsely claiming you agreed on a different lower amount, when its convenient for them to do that to make more off the sale. They lie and claim they don't keep receipts after I asked for proof of the sale. Weeks later after ignoring my initial request for a receipt they send a seemingly random super sketchy receipt that doesn't even show the name of the products sold (ie my item) and then the receipt has a hand written note claiming the higher sale amount included another product that the buyer bought at the same time. Super unprofessional, very dishonest, poor communication, and non-transparent, lacking in integrity business practices. STAY AWAY for this oddball store! Oddball is right.... I may update my review only if they stop lying and quickly send me my consignment check for the correct amount I have asked for that I am owed for my item.

It's a…read moredisservice to call this a vintage store - it's your sweet mom's warm embrace on a breezy, sunny spring afternoon at the park as a child - the park with the rusty merry-go-round and the steel slide you spent countless hours at with your best friends! Walking into the Leech Pit is like getting vertigo at a strobe filled dance club (oontz oontz oontz) - there's just so much goodness you just need to pause to catch your breath and take it all in. But you can't pause because your heart is pounding and you're giddy with excitement. The rare concert t-shirts, the racks and racks of clothes that serve as documentary of every phase you ever went through, the action toys you spent every afternoon with (and realize you now could be rich if you had kept them instead of letting mom donate them to the stupid kid down the road because you're too old for them now SMH), the records - oh sweet Jesus the records! - and even record players for your new collection! It's a one stop shop for your wildest dreams!! As if the shop wasn't Valhalla on earth on its own, I met the owner too (I think his name was Adam, but he looks like an Izzy). He was damn cool - I think he's probably my long-lost best friend from 6th grade that I used to get in trouble with. When he shows you around you realize he knows every item intimately, because he curated everything in the store. Everything in the Leech Pit feels like an expression of the owner and his commitment to taking you on a journey to excite your senses and comfort your soul. I like to think of him as the curator of your wildest dreams - he WILL make them come true!

At one point, I had put my belongings down for a moment, and an employee moved them from where I had placed them and put them on a container without even speaking to me about it. What really crossed the line was having an employee block or stand in front of the door when I had absolutely nothing in my hands. That was embarrassing, humiliating, and completely unnecessary. What made the situation even worse was that while walking through the store, I saw other customers putting their belongings down as well, but I did not see them being treated the way I was. Being watched, having my belongings moved, and then having the exit blocked made me feel singled out and treated like a thief when I had done nothing wrong. Customers should not be made to feel suspicious or unwelcome simply for shopping. The whole experience left me feeling disrespected and embarrassed, and I seriously hope management addresses how customers are being treated.
