Now, in a small valley owning a small business you can't turn away someone that was only asking to spend money at you shop. Very unprofessional and unfortunate. I'm sure some people have had great experience with the owner, but it's just not the experience I am used to with purchasing comic books. I was a regular with a simple file box and a checklist for decades in NY and this was like pulling teeth. Hope he finds a way to be a better businessman, and not argue with customers. Or just sell his shop to someone that wants to be in operation seems like he hates what he does.

My wife and I were enjoying a nice walk around town and as soon as I saw a record store (in this tiny town, no less) I knew I had hit the jackpot. It's a small shop, though it packs a punch. They were undergoing some maneuvering and restocking on this particular day, so they have an even larger more robust collection than what I happened to see. I always let the record store guide me to ear porn enlightenment. I enjoy many genres of music, but when I visit a shop I read the room and let the music do the talking. Which led me to the reissued release of High On Fire's "Art of Self Defense' a cult classic in the stoner metal realm. Picked it up and bought it on the spot. The employee was super kind and down to earth. I spent a good chunk of time sifting through records, but knew my wife would kill me if I spent too much time in there. Now I get to add a wonderful record store to my Nederland excursions. Consider me a happy camper!

Walking into the Leech Pit is like getting vertigo at a strobe filled dance club (oontz oontz oontz) - there's just so much goodness you just need to pause to catch your breath and take it all in. But you can't pause because your heart is pounding and you're giddy with excitement. The rare concert t-shirts, the racks and racks of clothes that serve as documentary of every phase you ever went through, the action toys you spent every afternoon with (and realize you now could be rich if you had kept them instead of letting mom donate them to the stupid kid down the road because you're too old for them now SMH), the records - oh sweet Jesus the records! - and even record players for your new collection! It's a one stop shop for your wildest dreams!! As if the shop wasn't Valhalla on earth on its own, I met the owner too (I think his name was Adam, but he looks like an Izzy). He was damn cool - I think he's probably my long-lost best friend from 6th grade that I used to get in trouble with. When he shows you around you realize he knows every item intimately, because he curated everything in the store. Everything in the Leech Pit feels like an expression of the owner and his commitment to taking you on a journey to excite your senses and comfort your soul. I like to think of him as the curator of your wildest dreams - he WILL make them come true!

I had an extremely uncomfortable and disrespectful experience at this store…read more I was made to feel like I was being accused of stealing not once, but twice. At one point, I had put my belongings down for a moment, and an employee moved them from where I had placed them and put them on a container without even speaking to me about it. What really crossed the line was having an employee block or stand in front of the door when I had absolutely nothing in my hands. That was embarrassing, humiliating, and completely unnecessary. What made the situation even worse was that while walking through the store, I saw other customers putting their belongings down as well, but I did not see them being treated the way I was. Being watched, having my belongings moved, and then having the exit blocked made me feel singled out and treated like a thief when I had done nothing wrong. Customers should not be made to feel suspicious or unwelcome simply for shopping. The whole experience left me feeling disrespected and embarrassed, and I seriously hope management addresses how customers are being treated.
