I had no idea about the gondolas til I saw a flier at our hotel lobby. I only read Google reviews & many complained about the price. We ordered our tickets online & didn't care for the activities. Adult price $84 (and something new is guests can have unlimited rides up/ down) through tour the day!). We grabbed a Gondola ride & $30 lunch voucher $110. Absolutely worth the price. Yes, food is pricey up there, but- I think it's expected. I didn't read anything about bringing your own food. There are tables & chairs near Tamarack Lodge. The $30 voucher worked perfect for me. A cup of Mac & Cheese & a cup of Chili (cornbread included) is $9.74 each. I snagged some oyster crackers & bottled water. Since I grabbed an Angry Orchard can- I came out of pocket $13. It was a way to start July 1st off. We enjoyed the clear summer skies sitting outside. Some of the tables had an umbrella. Jenga is provided on some tables and corn hole is near by. The Observation Deck is highest elevation at 9735 ft & Tamarack Lodge/ final stop is 9150 ft. There are some trails to walk along at both stops and bathrooms are spacious. Gift shop at Observation Deck & Cafe Bleu. If you wanna get a pick of the Heavenly signage- walk immediately to the left when you get off the gondola and walk towards the first set of stairs. You'll see it below with corn hole & some chairs to take in the view. If you bought your tickets online, you do NOT need to fill out the paper waivers at the ticket window. You can also proceed to a separate line designated for online purchases. There is a ticket booth at the top level for activities if you'd like to purchase as well. Opens at 11:30am.

The ride…read moreitself is exciting as you are slowly being carried above the trees to your first stop which is the Observation Deck. It's a quick little stop that lets you walk on the deck to look at a distance at Lake Tahoe and lets you take in the scene. It's definitely beautiful! While you're up there, you can check out the "Heavenly" sign and take some memorable photos. But other than that, there wasn't much else to do. Hopping back onto the gondola takes you to the very top where you can do various activities (hiking, mountain coaster, rock wall climbing, tubing, zip-lining, etc). Of all the activities, I'd say the only one really worth doing is the mountain coaster, which I'd give it a solid 7/10. When the ride starts, it feels like it takes about 5-7 minutes of a slow ascent to reach the top before you really zip through the course. The speed feels great and it's exhilarating! I just wish it was a slightly longer ride and that it didn't take so long to reach the top to begin the true descent. Zip-Lining was a huge let-down, which I give it a solid 2/10. We geared up with equipment that felt like it was 20 lbs, which is about normal in these cases. However, once you have the equipment on, you need to walk over to the ski lift which is about 50 feet away to take you to a higher elevation where the zip-lining starts. Once you depart the ski lift, you are then to walk up a few flights of stairs. After a literal breath-taking trek just to start the activity, I was immediately disappointed when the doors opened and I started my descent down. I've been on a few zip-lines, and this has got to be the slowest zip-line I have ever witnessed. It was not exhilarating or even worth mentioning to our friends. I was very let down due to the fact that we did so much physical prep and the outcome was not worth it. After being let down by the slow zip line, I decided to hop back onto the mountain coaster to fulfill the rush I felt like I was missing. I didn't bother trying out the other activities they offered, as they just did not appeal to me.

Instead of a great view of High Desert and the Eastern Sierras in Gardnerville, I was treated to an Alpine environment and a bit of a Lake View. The folks at the front desk were welcoming and knowing that this was not my home Douglas County gym, gave me the key bathroom and exercise machines directions with a smile. I like Garnerville better as the machines are newer and there's more room. The equipment is also better spaced and more conducive to occasional conversation and moving around. At the same time, I found what I needed here at Kahle, made the necessary weight adjustments, and had a fine workout. I even stayed a little longer to try out some of the variations and have a nice chat with a guy in a t.u. shirt. Kahle remains a good choice if I happen to be in the neighborhood. And now that I know my way around this building better, it will be easier to make the effort and show up.

We rented 1 adult bike and 1 kids bike for 4 hours starting at 4pm. After about 2 hours of use…read more(while on the East Shore trail) the kids' bike battery died. It started getting dark and we had to push the bike back about a mile in the dark. When I brought this up to the store later I was told we "must have had the bike on the highest pedal assist setting the whole time", which was not true. I was then told we should have let the store know (which I couldn't because it happened shortly after the store closed at 6) I don't know if we got a dud bike but it was not a safe experience.

There are different age groups that play, so keep your eye out on your little ones to prevent them from getting trampled by the older kids. Service was great. Everyone was pleasant. The group can only access this beach with the shuttle & tour group so make sure to read everything in the email. The clear kayaking is done at Sand Harbor which was absolutely gorgeous. All of the guides we met and interacted with were super cool, nice, and helpful. Using a clear kayak is particularly cool when you go over rocks and boulders in the lake. The kayaking was not too strenuous and I would definitely recommend for beginners like myself. It is a bit more pricey to do the clear kayak tours as opposed to renting a regular kayak so it's something to consider, but by doing the tour I got to see a part of the lake I had never been to (and is a bit harder to get to) and also got instructions and tips for kayaking. We thought the tour would go a little farther/longer too but it was still cool. Kayaks are available as singles or doubles with weight limits so be sure to take that into account when booking. It was late July when we went so the weather was nice and warm. We wore swim shorts and dry fit shirts with UV protection. Our legs got a little wet from water splashing off the paddle but it felt great. They do lend you dry bags to use if you have any items you want to keep on you while kayaking. I did use the dry bag for my sunscreen, water bottle, wallet/fanny pack. They also said we could leave belongings in their life jacket van at the beach, which some people chose to do. I would recommend packing light though. I am glad we booked this adventure. I think after going with a tour group now I feel more confident to rent a kayak and head out without a tour next time I visit Tahoe.

No formal trail at the peak; just look for a spot with the best views of Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay, Granite Lake and Cascade Lake.
