Kahle has 2 PICKLEBALL COURTS! Each court has its own fence perimeter which keeps most balls on your court. Stopped by after dinner yesterday and both courts were being used by nice people who asked me if I would like to play. I forgot my paddle so couldn't play. I returned this morning with my paddle (duh) , wife and cousin hoping a 4th would come by. We drilled and played skinny singles for 1.5 hrs and had a great time. I'll probably go back tomorrow and play again! read more

As the Gardnerville gym was closed for it's annual maintenance cycle, I trekked up to Kahle for my hour-long workout. Instead of a great view of High Desert and the Eastern Sierras in Gardnerville, I was treated to an Alpine environment and a bit of a Lake View. The folks at the front desk were welcoming and knowing that this was not my home Douglas County gym, gave me the key bathroom and exercise machines directions with a smile. I like Garnerville better as the machines are newer and there's more room. The equipment is also better spaced and more conducive to occasional conversation and moving around. At the same time, I found what I needed here at Kahle, made the necessary weight adjustments, and had a fine workout. I even stayed a little longer to try out some of the variations and have a nice chat with a guy in a t.u. shirt. Kahle remains a good choice if I happen to be in the neighborhood. And now that I know my way around this building better, it will be easier to make the effort and show up. read more

This park and community center is awesome! We have been here many times and we love the accessibility of the playground area and the restrooms. There is always plenty of parking. We have three kids and they all enjoy playing there. read more

It's very rare I take my kids sledding when visting Tahoe. My kids are usually on the slope skiing. We had a day off and was looking for free place to sled. Didn't feel like paying $40 going to a snow park. Kale Community Center was close by. There was plenty of parking. There is a small hill to sled down. The hill is not long or steep. Great for little kids. My kids had a great time. I'm happy I didn't had to pay $40. There is a play structure and large field. There is restroom on-site but wasn't sure it was open to the public. This is a great place for small kids. If your older, a snow park might be more fun. read more

Last week while we were in South Lake Tahoe, I went looking for a safe, free place for my lil boy to play in the snow and go sledding. Who knew it would be so hard to find a free sledding hill in Tahoe?! Anyway, a nice young waitress at Red Hut told us about Kahle Park and so we checked it out. My lil guy loved their snow covered play ground equipment and it was a safe place to pull him around in his sled. I haven't been to the community center but I'll check it out next time! Great free place for safe snow play and sledding. There's even a playground. Only downside is the bathrooms are locked.

If you're visiting South Lake Tahoe with kids Kahle Community Park/Center is a great place. The community center is located next to the park with soccer/football field and children's play structures. Inside the community center for a small fee $5-$7 you there's a indoor basketball, rock climbing wall, tennis court and indoor playground for toddlers (temporarily close due to COVID-19). read more

My sister talked me into Zumba with Nancy and it has been amazing! I'm so glad I joined and it pains me to miss a class. She is such a well rounded instructor extremely knowledgeable, beautiful inside and out, enthusiastic, and has such a positive influence on my life and body! We went to the Kahle Community Center and Park. Its very close to the casino area (Kingsbury Grade and Highway 50). I like the park with the playgrounds, soccer field, and baseball fields. Its 19 acres and well kept. There is also a community center with a wide range of classes and things to do for all members of a family read more

This review is for the people that have read or heard that you can sled here at the community center park. This is just not the case. There are no hills with any reasonable length that you can sled down. Check it out, but have a back up plan just in case. What did I learn today? This place is a real gem. The facility is clean, the equipment is new, and the people are friendly. Please note that the negative review from Kristen O. below is incorrectly placed and not about this community center. The Kahle Community center is in Stateline, which is nowhere near Sand Harbor and it is not a kids camp. I am trying to get Yelp to remove Kristen's posting. The only thing I'm not happy about with Kahle is that the TVs are often tuned to very partisan news stations. I think it's very important for a community center that serves a wide range of population to avoid taking any political positions. I don't want to deal with that stuff when I work out. read more

This place is great! I can't believe that it hasn't been reviewed yet on yelp! Whoo hoo, I get to be the first! The Kahle community center was built in 1993. It has : 1) Exercise equipment (machines, weights, and treadmills) 2) Running track with three lanes 3) Jumpy house! 4) Some arcade games 5) Full court basketball 6) Snacks 7) Two outdoor play structures 8) Only $7 a day for visitors! Kids under a certain age (I think it was 9) are free. So...go for it! This place rocks. read more

The Zumba class is amazing. I wanted to try Zumba for a long time and decided to give it a shot. Nancy, the instructor is the best instructor ever! The class is a fun way to burn some calories. The class members are welcoming and encouraging to a beginner. read more

This center is located right off Hwy 50, less than 5 minutes from the Casinos. We went here to let my kids burn off some energy in the evening. I paid $7 for myself and $3 for my 13-yr old for an all-day pass. My 3 & 5 yr olds were free. For the little ones there was a big play structure with tubes and slides, a bouncy house, rock climbing wall, and mats for gymnastics. There is also a family restroom and snack bar right next to the kids area. For adults/teens there is a full workout gym, basketball courts, and rock climbing. There is also an arcade area with air hockey, foosball, and video games. All are just 25 cents to play. Altogether, the 4 of us spent less than $20 for hours of entertainment. read more

Loved this place! No offense but the two negative reviews seemed a little harsh, but to each their own. There is no childcare and kids under 8 (I believe) cannot be left unattended (its the rules). Cost is $7 for adults and kids under 8 are free - WOW that is cheap in my book! I don't normally write reviews but felt this place worthy. Found this place through a Google search and glad I did! Great for family and inexpensive workout! Staff seemed friendly for the 4 days I was there and the place never felt too crowded. Facility seemed well maintained and clean. What I liked the most - NO gym rats or meat heads if you know what I mean! Sorry parents, NO childcare provided (the only fault I could find). For the kids: small arcade, foosball, air hockey, crawl tunnels (like McDonalds Playland), bounce house, basketball courts (child/kids hoops available upon request), two outdoor play structures, and large grass field. For Adults: Basketball courts, Small indoor track, cardio equipment, strength training equipment, and locker room with showers if needed. Disclaimer: Do not expect a full-scale workout facility. Approx 15 pieces of cardio equipment and basic strength gear (bench press, portable flat/incline benches, squat racks, universal/fly/row station, large dumbbell rack, and numerous leg/core/upper body machines, . I was recommended to come here for a nice place to run. Finding the primo running trail is tricky. There's a track around the grass field there and it was a bit difficult to find but there's a bike trail marker that will point you in the right direction. The bike trail goes about 0.25 miles on a winding narrow dirt path to a long paved trail that winds through the Sierra-Nevada forest. I ran this paved section for maybe 1.5 miles before turning around. I'm not sure how much further it goes. The scenery is amazing and it's nicely wooded so this is a great place to run. Watch out for the high altitude though! read more

For free weights this place is great. Lat pulldown is perfect. 2 decline press dumbell benches. Equipment is NOT some annoying red blue or yellow color. Air flow and temperature in gym is second to none. In between set you can walk or jog the huge empty upstairs track and check the great views. Endless stalls in the bathroom and a scalding shower If you like. If this place was cheaper I'd be about to call you stupid for not joining here guys but it's $50-something I think. read more

We are full time Lake Tahoe residents, recent transplants from San Francisco and Marin, and last year I was looking for a day camp for my (then) 4 year olds twins. I was told about this camp by the man who manages our home, as his wife works at Kahle Community Center in Stateline. I looked into it. I couldn't find any information about it, other than the details of the camp. No reviews. I asked around, and heard from a few other parents at Tahoe Tot Spot (GREAT camp, by the way!!) that their kids go and they like it. I gave it a try. Day one, the kids came home covered in fudgsicles. Did anyone ask if my kids could have sweets? Why did I pack them a lunch with healthy, organic snacks? More ice pops on Day 2, and 3. Day 4, one of the teachers gave my kids gum. They are 4 years old! Why do they need gum? I asked the teacher the following week to please don't give my kids gum. She looked at me like I was transparent, shrugged her shoulders, and with a snap of her gum (she never stopped chewing to talk to me), said "They don't need to get gum then." This place seems safe, and the activities are engaging and age appropriate, but the place was packed with kids from age 3-10, and I mean PACKED! The outings on Thursdays to Sand Harbor were a huge highlight for my kids, as were Wednesdays when they can bring their bikes and ride around the lower lot (but the bikes are not secured, and at $150 a pop, I wasn't too comfortable leaving them there). But when their craft project involve M&M's and other candies, and at the end of each day, the kids are given some mindless made-in-China plastic toy (bribe), I get really turned off. Needless to say, we will not be returning to this camp next summer. I'm sure some, if not most, of the parents there do not care at all if their kids are being bribed with toxic toys, or force fed junk food after junk food after junk food on a daily basis, but I really really do not want my kids exposed to this type of day camp. Try Tahoe Tot Spot instead: Amy feeds them homemade, or at least organic snacks, and they had just as much, if not more, fun in a caring, non-crowded setting. Probably not as much outdoor activities, but still, they had bike days just like at Kahle and pretend camping in tee-pees. I hope this helps someone. Kahle, rhymes with "fail". read more

I use Kahle Community Center for virtually everything from my son's pre-school to my year around gym pass and everything in between. I SWEAR by the school located inside the building, and I searched for quit some time before chosing one for my toddler. I also love their twos-day morning program for my younger children who aren't quit in pre-school yet. I've been to mulitple birthday parties here, also the best! Aside from those programs, their soccer program was awesome for my oldest son, along witha ll their day camps in the summer. Like I said, I use Kahle Community Center for EVERYTHING LOL. I have a gym pass that I renew each year, because you can't beat the price, and the flexable hours! The equipment is always new and clean and well kept. The indoor running track is awesome for our "bi-polar" tahoe weather! I also take Jazzercise in this facility and it's really fun and they have plenty of equipment for that class too! :) It's my kids favorite playground weather permiting and if it's raining or snowing we use the indoor play structure and bounce house too! There's tons of stuff to do here! The staff is really friendly and helpful and they have so many holiday and community events (most are free!) for the community. This is the kind of place that would make me think twice about leaving Tahoe, because it's a huge part of our lives and our kids. Talking to many other locals, so many people feel the same about this place too. You can't beat the drop in price for the gym either if you are from out of town! read more

I have come to this place for almost 8 years now, being a Tahoe native I know this is one of the "best" community centers around. I usually only go there for my Jazzercise class, though. Every now and then I took my kids with me since they have a jungle gym and a bouncy house and other games, they were entertained while I worked out. On this particular day, though, this older lady with short, white-ish hair kicked my kids out of that area because I hadn't "signed in". I don't need to sign in since I do Jazzercise, not their gym and when I explained this to her, she just said that my oldest had to pay $3.00 and my youngest had to be supervised. Really? That had never happened before! Well if my 11 year old is old enough to pay $3.00, then he should be old enough to supervise his 8 year old brother, right? Well, no. She kicked us out but told us, hey, they can hang out in the hallway. Oh, damn, thanks for allowing my kids to hang out in your hallway and not have to pay for that too!!! No thanks.... I missed my class because I wasn't going to make my kids wait an hour sitting in a hallway for me while there was a perfectly good and fun place for them to wait. If you're looking for a place to work out, this is alright. If you're looking for a place for your kids to hang out and be around friendly, welcoming employees that they feel confortable with, look somewhere else. Shame on this "community center" that is about anything except the community. read more
