FINALLY DID IT!!! We scheduled this ride twice before but was canceled both times due to bad weather conditions. Well third time was a charm! Drove out to Perris and had to be there by 6am. When we arrived we were greeted with donuts and coffee. yay! nothing major i know but still kind gesture. Also, while you wait if you need to use the restroom, Porta- Potties only. We got divided into three groups and my friend and i ended up in the second group. Which was pretty cool as the 2nd group had to jump in the van and meet up with the balloon once the ride was over for group #1. So we were hot air balloon chasers. Once it was our turn, the balloon itself has four compartments where two (maybe three) people fit in each compartment. The pilot stands in the center. So in total there were 9 of us in the balloon. The ride itself was very peaceful. Theres something surreal about the dead quiet of the sky. silence. It was a pretty cool experience and i would recommend it for those looking for a low impact thrill. We were probably in the air for about 45 minutes. Once we landed, gracefully i may say, we drove back to where we started and were greeted with our certificates and mimosas :) Overall, great experience!!! THANK YOU. read more

Back in January, I purchased a hot air balloon ride for me and my boyfriend. It was supposedly semi-private. Mind you-- this was when there were heavy cases of COVID early in the pandemic, when cases were many, and before vaccines were available to the public. This is a big reason why I booked the semi-private ride. The person who I talked to over the phone explained there would be other couples on the ride, but that we would all be reasonably spaced out. I thought, "The more space, the better, we'll have our face masks on, and it's outdoors...okay. Cool." The first time we were booked for February, they had to cancel due to inclement weather. Got it. Totally understandable. I rescheduled for March. Come March, I was informed to show up as early as 5:00 a.m. which my boyfriend and I did. No one was there, except another couple who said they also received the same instructions. There was no amber beacon outside to which the instructions told us to all gather and meet as it was dark and still night. As it was getting closer to 5:45, the office calls us back and tells us to drive towards the front where the entrance is, and low and behold-- the amber beacon and ride signs that weren't there, are NOW there, and my boyfriend and I figure, "Ok. Not cool that the amber beacon wasn't on and lit upon our arrival, but whatever. Nbd. There are no actual lines, just a blob of spaced out people, so I go to the closest thing that looks like a line to check in. NO ONE TOLD US that during the day of the hot air balloon ride, that we would be placed in 2 groups... and the WAIT TIME if you're in the 2nd group!!! My boyfriend and I -- put in the 2nd group. We didn't go to our boarding site until 2 HOURS LATER after checking in. When driving in the van to the site, 2 other couples are already agitated and angry as well: one couple mad about additional hotel fees because of their now late check out, the other couple upset that they were going to get to a family gathering super late because of the long drive that followed the balloon ride. We get to the hot air balloon site, and it sure as hell DOES NOT LOOK reasonably spaced. It's literally a basket STUFFED with 7 people, minus my boyfriend and I because we were shocked and already pissed off having been there since 5:00 a.m. to board on at 8:00 a.m., and not at all feel comfortable of the view of overcrowded people on the "semi-private" hot air balloon ride. I talk to the van driver Miriam asking her if my boyfriend and I can just get a refund because there was no way in hell we were going to get in the overcrowded, ZERO-SPACED basket. Miriam said to talk to the manager Janet. HERE ARE MY ISSUES WITH JANET: * Upon speaking with her, she did not agree with ANY of the problematic factors that had occurred during that morning: the amber beacon that wasn't on OR lit as it was mentioned it would be upon first arriving, the disorganization with the lines or the fact that there were no check-in lines when checking in-- just a spaced out crowd. THE ZERO COMMUNICATION in being placed in 2 groups and THE ADDITIONAL WAIT TIME of having to wait for the OTHER group to get back. * The fact that she was EXTREMELY RUDE. I told her about the other couples in the van ride who were just as upset, and then she asks me as to how come those couples weren't complaining to her and what were their names?? How should I know?! We were all venting to the driver Miriam about how upset and frustrated we were with the whole process and experience (YOU CAN ASK MIRIAM) Those other couples sure as hell weren't as angry as me or my boyfriend were, but I know if I'm not happy with something, best believe I'm going to do something about it-- hence me reaching out for the refund when this happened, and yes, hence this Yelp review. * Janet said she would not be able to give us our refund because the owner would have to do that to which Janet ALSO disclosed-- the owner's spouse had died which made the owner indisposed at that time. With the greatest respect-- my sincere condolences to the owner and her spouse, but that has NOTHING to do with me. Also, isn't it Janet's job-- TO MANAGE while the owner is indisposed?? THANK GOD I booked this activity through Groupon, because I eventually got my refund. Overall, this was a horrible experience: Extremely unorganized,TERRIBLE communication, UNPROFESSIONAL, and horribly inaccurate instructions on email for day-of event:"amber beacon" with "balloon rides" sign were not on or present upon arrival and were only visible once it was closer to 6:00 that morning. I'm typically a very positive reviewer on Yelp. I only ever give positive reviews on businesses and services on here. You can even check my page. But I'm not going to set any other paying customer up for failure and especially with an experience that affected me so negatively. Oh. Just making DREAMS come true. This was my first hot air balloon ride ever, and the bar has been set RIDICULOUSLY HIGH!! Sweet surprises and some sweet history lessons on hot air ballooning as well as the region we were soaring over. DEREK is the MAN. I hope you're able to have him as your pilot. Ask him all the questions, he's a well of wisdom. And I can't leave out my girl, AMBER...our van driver and overall good-vibe tour guide as we went to and from the hot air balloon itself. It's incredible to be around people that are passionate about what they do. It sparks passion in you as well. If you leave this trip uninspired, it's most likely your own fault...#sorrynotsorry - and with that said, I pray you 'rise above' any crap you might be facing from the year, the month, or the day...there's something about being around 5,000 feet that so beautifully puts things into perspective...if you pay attention and let it. I would highly recommend booking your hot air balloon experience with Adventure Balloon Rides. I scheduled our original ticket on 10/24 but was cancelled due to weather. Called in the next morning and changed it to Veterans Day 11/11. (They do charge an extra $20 per person on weekends or holidays) Arrived at 6 am where one of our host Amber was waiting to check people in. Checked in, paid our extra $20 per person due to holiday, and was weighed (limit and restrictions apply based on weight). They drove us out to the lot, where they had the hot air balloon ready to go. Hopped in, took some pictures, and off we went. Total ride was about 45 minutes give or take. We landed took some more pictures, and headed back to Perris airport. Amber our original host popped some champagne, poured some mimosas, and gave everyone a certificate and a breakfast voucher for the cafe inside the airport. Me and my 17 year old daughter went on our first ballon air ride yesterday it was awesome. You do have to get up super early . We arrived at 6:00 am checked / weighed in . They had tons of donut option , coffee & hot chocolate. Then you take a little van to the destination once there you hop in to the hot air balloon and take off . Our pilot was super friendly and has been doing this his whole life so feel safe in his hands . The day was beautiful Nd the rude it smooth not scary at all . Definitely do not wear white or new shoes as you will have to walk through lots of dirt . The young lady that works there was also very friendly and took tons on pics of everyone . Reality vs expectation. I am reading all these comments and i think people had all these crazy high expectations. OK i get it you ASSUME that you are going to be the only one but no where on the voucher does it say that you will be. It just says ride for 2, meaning you are purchasing a deal for two people. And in regards to their breakfast, they told me multiple times there will be breakfast but also told me its donuts/bagels/coffee. Keep in mind it is 5:30 in the MORNING holy shit who the heck can even eat at that time? I was awake 3 hours before and still was not hungry when i got there. There are other groups going with you on the balloon and if you do not want that then this is not the place for you. If you think about all the people they have to pay it does NOT make sense for there to be only 2 people on the balloon. When i went there were 2 pilots, and 3 guys setting up each balloon (there were 2 balloons taking off that morning) so do you really think they are going to be able to run a business and pay all of their employees with your measly 200-400 bucks? We arrived right at 5:30, stayed there for about 15 minutes to wait for some stragglers. Got on the van to another field where the balloons were at. Only had to wait about 25 minutes for the balloon to be ready. and we took off. Our pilot was very knowledgeable about everything hot air balloon related. We did not get to see the sunrise, yes i was disappointed about that but i wasn't too upset becasue it was a super foggy day and we wouldn't have been able to see it anyways. For those of you afraid of heights or hate getting that feeling in your tummy don't worry. The balloon takes off soooo slowly and the basket is so sturdy it does not feel like you are going to fall or rickety. My mom has really bad vertigo and she was totally fine. The one thing that really upset me about their service is i had to reschedule 3 time since the scheduling woman was a complete IDIOT!!!! But they informed me that they had let that woman go so i am pleased about that. The breakfast spot they give you the coupon too is actually pretty neat i would definitely recommend. Here's our experience with the company. The stars are for the staffs, view, and the complimentary donuts and coffee. The experience for the actual balloon ride was awesome! There isn't much to see below other than some farm animals, houses, dirt, etc. but overall it's very relaxing and peaceful. Kind of feeling like you're floating away into space. Loved every second of it. Husband and I were super excited for our first time hot air balloon ride till we got here at 5:50AM. They wanted us to be there by 6 so we got up at 3:30AM to be safe. The staffs were quite attentive and friendly. However, the company is very unorganized. There are 2 groups, one goes first while the other wait by the picnic tables in the cold till they return about 30 minutes later. We, of course was the second batch, didn't get on the ride till 7:30, missing the entire sunrise. I understand the capacity of each balloon but why not have 2 time slots other than having us wait around in the cold when the first group went about their ride? What gives them priority? Or better yet, why overbook? We also understand you need to verify the weight of each individual, but still doesn't explain the waiting around with nothing to do. What's the point of asking us for our weight when we're booking the reservations? Anyhow, this is why I gave it 3 stars. Hoping the company can be a bit more organized. When I say Derek was amazing... this pilot made everyone feel at ease, educated the patrons in the ballon, kept us safe, and we had a smooth balloon ride. Event my wife's birthday. She really wanted to see the sunrise from above!!!:::::((((((( Preparation Beware this company will make you be there at 5:30 am at Perris Valley Airport. This will apparently guaranteed you a sunrise view inside the hot air balloon, but it's a LIE!! They have one hot air balloon and it only fits 8 people 2 people per cubicle. Once the entire group gathers in the airport Nikki splits the group into 2 groups and if your not in the FIRST group to mount the hot air balloon, you will see the sunrise from the ground, After Nikki will give you some silly story of how YOU DON'T want to see the sunrise from inside the hot air balloon:(( You will have to drive in a van with your SAD group and chase the balloon around until it lands so your group can mount and finally go up in the air. No restrooms and if you ask Nikki will tell you to hold it until you get back otherwise you will miss the balloon ride. Suggestion This company should be up front and let you know that one group will get to see the sunrise and the second group will enjoy a clear view of the city. Or may be the first 8 to register will be in the first group and the last to register can be placed in the second group. I suggest another company! First off if you decide to go, make sure to purchase your tickets on Groupon. You will save almost 50% off full price. This hot air balloon experience was below average . I took my mother for her birthday. The meet up for this activity was at the airfield in Perris, CA. You have to be there super early in the morning because the flights take place at sunrise where the winds are the most stable. Safety first , I agree 200%. My initial frustration was that my mom and I arrived early assuming that the takeoff needed to be at the specific time posted. Other people going on the ride were late and non apologetic. Some showed up with Starbucks in their hands. That was kind of a slap in the face. You had time to stop and get coffee but not to get here on time. Regardless , that had nothing to do with the business but it bothered me that they put off the flight 30 minutes to wait for stragglers when I was on time. It should be like a commercial flight. If you are not on time, oh well.... The second frustration was that they pack approximately 10 people into the hot air basket. They separated groups up to distribute the weight properly. This was frustrating. I don't see how it could have been a romantic flight for one couple, they were placed in separate sections of the basket. Third frustration was that the flight lasted approximately 30 minutes. We did get to see the sun rise but it was over Perris. If you do not know the terrain of Perris, it is dry desert land and freeway that's it. So our beautiful flight had the view of basically dirt and cars on the freeway. So, being in the air in the balloon was cool but being smoothed with late strangers looking at dry landscape for 30 minutes was less than thrilling. On the positive side there were no accidents , they provide complimentary doughnuts, coffee, mimosas, and they give you a cute certificate. ***Do not use the restroom unless you have to. Once in a lifetime opportunity. My boyfriend surprised me with this sunrise hot air balloon ride for my birthday and it was a great time. They told us to get there at 5am so we left San Diego around 3:15am just to be on the safe side. We got there on time but ended up waiting around for about 2 hours. They say that they offer breakfast but it's really just doughnuts and powdered coffee so be prepared to bring something else if you don't like that. It took us quite a while before we were even driven out to get on the balloon. The name "sunrise tour" is a bit misleading because we weren't even in the air until about 8am. They go up in 2 groups and we ended up being on the 2nd group so we had to wait a bit longer. The first group was in the air for about 30 minutes and they promised us that our flight would go longer. The basket had 4 different compartments that fit one couple each. It was a bit snug but definitely gave us enough space. It was really cool to be up there. Definitely really quiet and peaceful looking over all the scenery. It is much warmer up there than you would think due to the flame. We ended up being in the air for about 1.5 hours due to not having the right wind to land but we definitely got our moneys worth. It was awesome to see the balloon come to life and capture it all on film. It really is a process and it adds to the experience. They run hops or rides in two trips of 12 passengers each ride and when you are done you toast it up with champagne and a certificate! The staff was nice and friendly. After reading the reviews, I see a lot of people were in my situation. These guys are scum bags to say the least. Traveled from Canada to go on a once in a lifetime hot air balloon ride. Was told to call a number the night before to check if weather permitted the flight. Unfortunately it was going to rain and got cancelled which is understandable because safety is first. Called the next day and tried to reschedule and they had "flight maintenance the next day" so that didn't work. The day after we had to leave so there was no way to reschedule as we were out of country. Lady on the phone said she understands the situation and will issue a refund in a few days and email me. She said they might charge a $25 "processing fee" but will talk to the boss and try to waive it. Well over 2 weeks later still nothing so I call them and she argues with me for over 20 minutes regarding the $25 x 2 (for 2 of us) fee. She said she spent 6 hours doing cancellations and processing refunds and for her time in setting up the flight (which never happened). After a 20 minute frustrating conversation with them, she says she will send email for refund. Wait a week and a half and never did. Had to call my credit card company for refund. Stay away from these guys....they are just after your money. They are unreasonable, thieves, and according to many of these review, they SUCK! Many other options in the surrounding area. Janet Sanborn is a pain in the ass to deal with and the owner Jim is just a stingy scum. Terrible experience dealing with them and at the end had to waste my time getting my money back! read more

The staff are great and you get everything from morning doughnuts to a breakfast voucher and mimosa when you come back from your flight! Plan on sparing a couple hours for this trip. You meet at 6am and will probably be flying shortly after 6:30. Our group took two flights and I was lucky to be on the first one. First flight finished sooner AND had the better sunrise view. DISASTER . Really. this company canceled my flight 4 times. every time we called in their hotline 2 hours prior to the flight , all 4 times they said that whether is excellent for the flight so we drove almost 2 hours from L.A to Temecula 3 o'clock in the morning and all four times the flight was canceled because there was a 5 miles an hour wind. Seriously where in the world you can find a place with no wind at all. Each time after cancellation their speech was the same " We have so many years of no accident history " Actually I do believe them since you can't have an accident without flying. I called them to get my money back NO WAY they said we don't refund money and don't even try to sue us since we have good attorneys. I believe that too I guess the money they collect and don't provide the services they spend on good attorneys I gave up but I'd like to worn as many ppl as I can to don't fall for this scam. This was my second hot air balloon ride so I was excited as I had a blast on the first one in Colorado. Alas, what a huge disappointment. They cramped 12 people in the basket that has four passenger sections (three persons per section). Two per section is ok as there is room to turn around to see the view from all sides, but three is cramp. I could not turn around. I was stuck to only one view and it was uncomfortable with no breathing room. Also the ride itself was pretty much up and down back to within the same area. My first balloon ride we went far and the basket was smaller to accommodate only up to four adults but there was enough room for all passengers to move about. I would not recommend this ride as you won't enjoy the experience as you would be too busy feeling uncomfortable and couldn't move, also the ride is too short--pretty much just go up and then down. read more

I booked a ride for my birthday because I've always wanted to do it. They said to be there at 6:30 sharp so we woke up at 4:30am and got there on time. It turns out we were the second leg we didn't end up going In The balloon until 8:30am so we were just waiting around for 2 hrs and missed the sunrise! To make things worse some passengers were super late (2+hrs) so we had to come back down and land the balloon to pick them up which was a total waste of time... the basket was cramped and the views were underwhelming (tons of dried up land, a "clean" landfill and some goats and mountains) I guess that you get what you pay for, anyways the staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating and that's the only thing that made it more-less pleasant. read more

This was a pretty cool experience.. It started off by driving at the butt crack of dawn out to the Perris airport. They have breakfast but it's donuts.. which is fine for some people but it's just a snack.. after the balloon ride you have a coupon to get breakfast at the skydiving place... Thank God they had redbull available.. :). I would have much rather ate before the balloon ride as I did get motion sickness that made me feel funny all day. It was kinda crazy to take off in an empty lot by the gas station.. fly around the city and then land in a riverbed with the chase truck following us.. read more

Had to wake up at 330am to get ready and arrive by 6am, im not a morning person but we'll worth the trip. I don't know why this place got 3 stars. We got cancelled twice for weather reasons, I'm ok with that. Better safe than sorry. My girlfriend and I finally got out and such a great experience. Staff was friendly, answered email/texts quickly, pleasant over the phone. While trailing the balloon since we were on the second ride, our driver, Tania, was engaging, answered any questions, gave us pointers of what to expect, etc. Our pilot, Mike, was great. Kept us informed, answered any questions, shared stories, etc. We had no issues whatsoever and would recommend this place. read more

I can understand why this place gets low reviews. The contract I signed clearly stated that in case of any adverse weather, balloon flights would be canceled and any money spent on tickets would not be refunded. Book this activity at your own risk. Thankfully we had good weather and the balloon ride happened without any hiccups. We arrived at 6AM for a briefing. The meeting spot is a dirt lot down the street from the airport. The guy directing traffic into the lot warned us to go around any dips in the dirt and under no circumstances should we drive into native vegetation. Plants usually obscure ditches in the dirt. Driving on top of them would ensure that our car gets stuck. My car got very dusty driving through the dirt. By 6:45AM, we boarded a chase vehicle that brought us to the take off site. We were in the air by 7AM and the ground crew were nice enough to help us take pictures. The ride itself relaxing but short. We only flew 700 feet off the ground and landed 30 minutes later. The couple next to us got engaged on the flight. As we were landing, the ground crew unfurled a banner asking "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" The girl got so choked up, she never said yes. She just gave her fiance a hug and put the ring on. Our pilot said 97% of the proposals on balloon rides end up with a YES. The balloon ride included a mimosa and $7.50 credit at their restaurant. I got a veggie omelet and paid the price difference. Most items on the menu cost $9. The food at the restaurant is decent. I'm glad they offer peanut butter, honey and jelly to go with my toast. In short, I dragged my wife out of bed at 5AM on a weekend to stand in the freezing cold waiting to fly in a balloon. Despite being sleep deprived and half frozen, we enjoyed ourselves. read more

I got the balloon ride tickets for last week. We have been told through the phone and also through the email to be in Perris airport by 5:20 am and the ride is at 5:30. We were there on time! Exactly at 5:20 am! A group of people sitting there having coffee. Finally around 5:45 they decided to start the ride. They divided those people into two groups of 9. First group have been taken to the balloon place and the second group included us (3 of us) waiting for the second ride. We got into balloon at 6:46 am. They should have divide people before the day of ride, ask the first group to be there by 5:20 and the second group by 6:30. Why we should have sit there for that long. They wasted our time and I lost all the excitement of riding the balloon because of that long wait. I didn't enjoy the ride because of their wrong planning. read more
