We've all had those patronizing and…read moredismissive doctors who just stare at their computer the whole appointment, or rush you out of the door in two minutes, but Dr. Handoyo takes the time to get to know you as a person. Then he asks you questions about your malady, investigates different treatment options, and even takes the time to educate you on your condition. He's also a model of patience and persistence. I was a little lazy about using the peak flow test at first, but Dr. Handoyo didn't get annoyed. He just explained the importance of getting a good baseline record of my lung capacity and how it would help him to provide the best treatment, so I made a commitment to be a better patient. With the pandemic and his specialty, I know he is at a greater risk than other doctors, so I especially appreciate his professionalism and efforts to ensure the health and safety of his patients.

Dr. Handoyo and the team of nurses had me take a series of breathing tests, which all seemed overwhelming, but they were all good about explaining why we were doing the tests and what the results meant for me. I really feel at ease whenever I've had to see him and feel very much like I'm taken care of after I leave my appointment. He also has convenient locations for those who live/work in the city. I've gone to his LIncoln Park and Loop office. The Loop office makes it convenient to make appointments during the work week and the Lincoln Park office is a quick train ride from work too.

In 2003, I was laid up for 2 weeks at home with bronchitis. When I saw a new internist in 2008, he recommended that I see Dr. Jacobson, because of the numerous sinus infections I was continuing to experience. Since I saw Dr. Jacobson he had provided me with the right treatments that let me live a life without concern of asthma and allergies for over 15 years. It has been life changing for me. Dr. Jacobson was able to have tele health visits with me that saved me from taking time off of work and he was genuinly interested in helping me. Sometimes, he would get backed up with other patients but he always made time to call me with updates on ct scans and lab work. He went above and beyond what I have come to expect from doctors. Even though I no longer have a sinus infection and as it turns out my allergies are minimal, I will continue to see him if I have any sinus issues.

Excellent Allergist!…read more She is one of the few Doctors that takes their time to find what is REALLY wrong with you, instead of trying to cure the symptoms (some doctors just gave me antihistamines and that was it.) She takes the time to make sure that you've been diagnosed correctly, and explains to you what is physically going on with your body. She goes through the reasons why she is prescribing medication to you, and what to expect the future appointments. Not only that, she is genuinely caring person who has no problem treating you like a friend, not a patient. We were talking in the exam room like we were long-time buddies. I also had some issues with my insurance denying payment for some of my prescriptions, and she went and fought it out with them, keeping me in constant contact and updating on the issues.

In a battle with my family between keeping the cats and me, I would lose. And, if I didn't lose, my life would be made miserable. So, I asked my primary care doctor for a referral, and he immediately suggested Allergy Partners. It isn't terribly convenient to my home, but they are outstanding. My first visit they did allergy tests - man have those changed since I was young! No pain, just a little itching and you're done. Turns out, I'm allergic to a lot of things, but cats in particular. I've been there three times now. We've tried a few different drugs hoping to avoid allergy shots. Since you can no longer give yourself the shots, it means driving out there every time. While we are not quite there yet, I am hopeful we'll find the right combination. I do like the doctor (Dr. Li) quite a lot. He is personable, listens to what you have to say, and is kind to his patients. That makes all of the difference in the world.
