I have always been an active person -- lifting weights, swimming, running, yoga, etc. -- and ever…read moresince the pandemic I started experiencing pain everywhere. Headaches, aches in my face/forehead/cheeks, tightens in my neck, upper and lower back, hips, toes -- you name it and it hurt. I felt that I couldn't chew/swallow properly and my tongue even felt tight. I felt incredibly unbalanced even though for years I was proud of my ability to balance on my feet. I pursued many different things that ultimately didn't give me the results that I was looking for. I tried going to physical therapy that my insurance covered. For about a month I had gone to a place that did acupuncture, chiropractic, and massage. These things provided some relief, but not long lasting. Personally, my goal is that I need to be able to live an active lifestyle while being pain-free. I found Dr. T on Instagram and it's been a game changer. Although his specialty is TMJ dysfunction, he practices the philosophy that everything is connected. Every session we work on workouts that correct the posture, and he individualizes hands- on manipulations for his patients. I am so happy with the progress that I am seeing in myself, especially in the mind-body connection. It takes time, but the most important part for me is that I am noticing that I can correct my own posture when I am feeling off. The explanations and education that I've received here vs. other PT is the difference. I appreciate that Dr. T spends time to communicate what's going on physically. I'm still attending sessions but after a month (in my personal journey) I am probably 80% pain free on a good day, and 50% pain free on a bad day. Everyone has different goals and a different journey, but if you are experiencing a similar type of pain, I highly recommend reaching out and seeing if this is for you.

At first I just came for pain relief but I did not complete the full program as recommended. I had to them come back and now my jaw is much more stable and stronger! My neck and upper back pain is consistently better and my job is one that makes it worse.

Thought I had an appointment with Dr. Meyer that does treat people with my condition, but I saw Nurse Practitioner Gina Rizzo. I asked more questions then she rendered information, regarding the pain in my spine and back. She never touched me or did a physical exam (I sat in a regular chair the whole time), yet the Visit Summary shows otherwise. Dr. Meyer popped his head in the door and said he would be seeing me shortly. The NP showed me an X-ray of lower spine (not thoracic spine as well as that's where pain originated) that I brought in and said she would suggest physical therapy. I asked if I would be seeing Dr. Meyer and she said no it wasn't necessary for me to see him. When I asked about the physical therapy being at their location, she said it would be better if I looked for a physical therapist in my area. In the initial call, regarding setting up an appointment, I was told that they have physical therapists, and I might not see the doctor just the physical therapist at first. However, after being told that I should look for a physical therapist on my own by the NP, she did not provide an explanation as to why I could not use the physical therapists at their location. In my lifetime, I have never been told by any doctor, nurse practitioner, or healthcare provider that it would be better for me to look for someone in my area on my own, when they offer the services in-house, which is what the 60 Columbus Drive facility in Morristown does. It's always been the patient's preference to choose how far they would like to travel. For that matter, their area is a short drive from my area. Moreover, as a rule, if necessary, I will travel a distance to see doctors and specialists, because what matters to me is the quality of care. In retrospect, I noticed the lack of diversity amongst the staff, the patients, and the patients receiving physical therapy (can see the physical therapy room and physical therapists), while in the waiting area. With that being said, I wholeheartedly feel that I wasn't seen by Dr. Meyer, after he said he would be in shortly, not physically examined by Nurse Practitioner Gina Rizzo when the Visit Summary shows otherwise, not allowed to do physical therapy at their location, and being told it would be better if I looked for a physical therapist in my area, because of me being a minority that wasn't valued. Hence, this is why I am taking the time to write this review to warn other minorities. These types of doctors, nurse practitioners, healthcare providers, healthcare facilities, and staff members need to be held accountable for their action's. I would encourage other minorities that may have had similar experiences to speak out and take action. They don't deserve the 1 but that's the lowest you can give for a review.

I am 71 years old and have had debilitating back problems since I was injured playing basketball at age eleven. Over the years, I have had countless procedures, seen chiropractors, etc., all without success. Additionally, six years ago, I fell and broke my femur, which has severely limited my mobility and caused me a great deal of pain. In short, I'm a mess. I was recommended to Ivy by a friend who gave them an enthusiastic endorsement and credited them with helping him walk without having surgery. From the time I stepped up to the front desk and met Aisha, the PC, I knew I had made the right decision. Aisha ensured that all my insurance and medical information was processed correctly and scheduled me for a month's worth of appointments. She was managing multiple patients who came in at once like a flight controller at rush hour. She is efficient, personable, understanding, and patient. Aisha introduced me to Grant, a staff therapist who oversaw my case. He holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and is a competent, qualified professional. He explained everything he was doing and why and carefully monitored my progress. By the time we were finished, I was able to walk without my walking stick, and my pain was manageable. I am now in the process of having physical therapy on my knees, and have Keith, the clinic director, as my therapist. Keith has more than twenty years of experience as a physical therapist. He is responsible for the operation of the facility, including personnel and physical resources, etc. He fills the place with music, laughter, and a sense of family, which is essential, especially for people of my age. The staff develops a close rapport with the patients. They have made an incredibly positive difference in my life, which is why I unconditionally recommend Ivy Physical Therapy
