I was explaining the nature of my doctor's order and instead of actually listening to me, she was lecturing me in the most condescending tone she could muster. When I could finally get a word in edgewise, she responded with, "then why can't you just do what you did before?" Ridiculous. There are many other offices in the area, go elsewhere. My first appointment went smoothly and the technician was kind and compassionate. They need a new person working the phones who can reflect the level of service offered here. Unfortunately, I refuse to be disrespected like that and will not be returning.

Being certified in CT and having worked in radiology for over 15 years, I knew what she should expect during her visit. Therefore, I advised my wife ahead of time to be certain to reiterate to the CT tech prior to the scan that she was there for a "kidney stone protocol", which she did. A kidney stone protocol calls for especially thin spiral CT slices in the range of 1.0-2.0mm, which is according to industry standards. The thinner slices permit the detection of smaller stones/calculi that might otherwise go undetected with the standard 5mm slices. Unfortunately, the CT Tech was very impersonal, didn't explain anything to my wife beforehand and simply went through the motions to get the job done. There were no patients in the waiting room at the time - no rush - zero pressure - no excuses. Once home, I reviewed the images on the provided disc and discovered that the scan was performed utilizing 5mm thick slices. I contacted the office and spoke with the CT Tech who insisted that the axial images were indeed performed at 2.0mm. Thinking perhaps I misread a series on the disc, I re-reviewed all of the images and confirmed that the axial images were indeed performed at 5.0mm thickness and not with 2.0mm slices as I was being told. I then called the CT Tech again, who, stating that she was currently looking over the images, assured me that the images were performed at 3.0mm thickness. I said, no, I'm looking at the images as well and they were performed at 5.0mm. She then conceded that yes, the images were at 5.0mm. ??? When I asked why she told me previously that the axial slices were performed at 2.0mm, she said, no, we do them at 5.0mm. So, I was first told the scan was performed using 2.0mm slices, then 3.0mm, then finally the truth at 5.0mm. To make matters worse, prior to our appointment I asked what the price would be for this particular CT scan with direct payment not using insurance. The cost was very reasonable. However, to reduce the out-of-pocket cost even further, we asked that they submit the claim through our insurance provider instead. Weeks later, we receive a bill in the mail from Advantage Diagnostics that reflected only minimal savings on our behalf. Interestingly, however, they billed and received over five (5) times the initial direct pay quote from our insurance provider. In the end, we thought that we had discovered a reasonably priced imaging facility that we could rely on for our diagnostic imaging needs as an alternative to the larger institutions. On one hand, the schedulers were terrific and very helpful in orchestrating things with the doctor and the insurance company in the process of establishing the appointment. The CT Tech, on the other hand, showed incompetence, questionable integrity and a gross lack of concern for the patient and the patient's diagnosis. Add to that the gross overcharge to our insurance provider and it goes without saying that there is no "Advantage" to the services provided by this company. Needless to say, we will not be back.

The test results were extremely valuable, and I am using them to track progress to reach my goals while working with personal trainer and nutritionist. The results with explanation are printed and can be e-mailed electronically to you, plus you get access to the free app where your data is saved (I posted some of the print outs) I also purchased a $50 add-on for a 15-minute consultation to review the results in detail. Unfortunately, this discussion lasted only 5 minutes, and the provider simply read a few values from the printout without offering any meaningful interpretation or guidance. There was no effort to connect the numbers to lifestyle factors or actionable recommendations. The only recommendation to gain 6 pounds of lean mass turned out to be incorrect--after reviewing the data myself, the target recommendation had 3 pounds. I gathered more insights by simply reading printed explanations. I would not recommend this add on, there is absolutely no value, unless someone is not able to read English, even then it's pretty pricey option for 5 minutes of reading, and potentially inaccurate reading. DEXA scan was very insightful (takes only 6 minutes) and RMR is helpful in understanding your body function. I was disappointed with the VO2 max test experience. Unfortunately, the professional administering the test did not provide adequate instructions or set expectations before starting. I was not informed about the structure or duration of the test, what kind of effort would be expected from me, or whether there were specific metrics to monitor on the screen which was placed in front of me. During the test--there was no communication, guidance, or encouragement. It felt like running in silence, without any idea of what I was supposed to be working toward or when the test would end. When I began struggling and asked how much longer it would continue, the response was vague ("whenever"). No clear confirmation was given as to whether I had completed the test properly or reached the intended VO2 max target. Having mask on and running made is extremely difficult to have conversation and getting one-word answers which did not provide any clarity. Additionally, no alternative equipment options were offered before the test. The provider said she assumed I was a runner, which I am not, and I was not told that the VO2 test could have been conducted using a cycling machine or another method more suited to my abilities. If I had been informed of my choices and the test requirements ahead of time, I could have selected a format that would yield more accurate and useful results.

I would recommend Open Sided MRI to anyone over the monopolized hospital systems we have no choice but to deal with in Northeast Ohio.

READ What you should know from my experience with Cleveland Nutrition. I cannot comment on their…read morequality of care because I have not signed up with them. My disappointment is with how they deceptively presented their services. On the initial phone call they would need an $80 deposit to book a consultation which would be applied towards services. I asked if they are like functional medicine and they explained the similarities (treat root causes) and the differences. So I thought I was going to meet with them to find out more about their services related to my health concerns and book appointments for testing and doctor visits. No so. I filled our their questionnaire online which was in-depth. At my consultation we spent an hour discussion my questionnaire and health history but NOT how their program could benefit me. I was feeling good about engaging their services and as with most clinics was looking forward to the testing and doctor follow up visits. However, at the end of my "consultation" they presented a "Health Transformation Program" that is a coaching program costing from $1730 to $2830 plus an additional $1300 for a nutrition plan customized for you by Dr. Gutman, plus additional medical appointments. NONE of this was mentioned on their website, or on my initial phone call, and only at the end of my "consultation". Also, the results of my "Body Composition Report" were never discussed at my consultation where I was measured. The clear focus of the entire "consultation" was a setup for their coaching programs. I called back at a later date and asked to have just the 2 tests and schedule follow up visits with Dr. Gutman and bypass the coaching because I have been practicing holistic health and nutrition for over 30 years and have gained a lot of knowledge. I felt the coaching would not benefit me much . Sophie told me I could not do that separate from the coaching packages and mistakenly thought I was asking for free services! I mentioned that I felt like I was deceived in that none of this was mentioned up front on the initial phone call OR on the website AND that my $80 had nothing to do with a medical consultation / evaluation. The website contains a generic mention of "our program" and nothing more. The intent of the original phone call was to secure the $80 and thereby lock me in to a "consultation" / pitch for their coaching. Sophie was very defensive rather than listening and apologizing for the misrepresentation and never discussing my body composition report on the "consultation". She only said she would go back and listen to the recordings of our conversations. Neither did she mention I was being recorded. No wonder they record all conversatoins - they say just enough to cover themselves but withhold critical information until the end! Beware.
