I've been going here since about 2001, and I never worry about it. Today I had a few unsightly stains that were quickly removed. :-)

My rating covers a 5 month period and this office deserves zero stars. Their overall staff were rude, especially the office manager, Stacy. They overcharged me for a consultation, made me prepay in full for the extraction and bullied me regarding my blood pressure and A1C levels. My consultation was on December 2, 2023. Not minutes into the pre screening, Dr. Ho's assistant criticized my blood pressure and my A1C levels. I was pissed off and my blood pressure rose even higher. After a while, they emphasized my blood pressure has to be under control prior to getting my tooth extracted. ADA standards for blood pressure must be 140/90. I cooperated and took extra medications for over next 3 months. I also learned that a mild sedative they provide would relax me during the procedure. During this waiting period, my insurance company sent me a letter stating that Hillsboro Implants & Periodontics overcharged me for my consultation. In addition, their pricing was not copacetic to the neighborhood and they had to refund me $73.60. Ok, Now I'm ready to make my tooth extraction apt. My doctor signed and faxed the medical clearance letter they required. On 2/22/2024, I called for an appointment. Linsey, the receptionist put me on hold for a long while. I hung up and called back. I was told to hold on and still waited several minutes. I hung up again and decided to walk over to their office since I live only a few blocks away. I walk in, asked Linsey for an appointment and she said that Stacy would have to get back to me. I asked to speak to Dr Ho to speed the process since appointments were filling up quickly. I didn't get to speak to her. I eventually went home and waited for Stacy to get back to me. I waited 3 hours and called their office. I finally got an appointment for 3/12/2024. Stacy, proceeded to lecture me on my blood pressure. That it must be at 140/90 or I would be turned away. She instructs me to pay in full for the service that hadn't been done yet. Very strange. I signed the pre surgical instruction electronically. Attached to it was a ridiculous email regarding my behavior. I took a snap shot of the email and posted it on their Yelp photos. They prescribed 3 tablets of Halcion to sedate me during the procedure. I took 1 the night before to gauge the potency. It didn't seem to be effective. I then took to 2 tablets an hour before surgery. Within minutes, I felt drunk and very sleepy. My neighbor drove me to their office, got the procedure done and I don't remember half of what happened. I was curious what my blood pressure reading was. I asked the receptionist, Linsey at least twice for the information and didn't get it. Within three days of the extraction, my stitches came loose and I started bleeding purple blood. I was freaked out and believed I had an infection. It was a Sunday afternoon, I called Dr. Ho's cell number, which they provided and had to leave a message. There was no call back or text back. I called my own medical provider for advice and I was assured there was no infection. So, I get to my recheck apt on 4/5/2024. Dr. Ho looked in my mouth and claimed everything was fine. I brought up the issues of loose stitches and bleeding. I was told this was normal. BS! I finally received the blood pressure readings from my extraction date and the 3 readings were 167/ 98, 176/99 and 188/104. What the heck! So with all that extra medication I took and the Halcion tablets, I was still stressed out. I was grateful Dr. Ho continued with the extraction because the office manager, Stacy was no help. I don't plan to return there for an implant. Very poor customer service. I am a "worry wart" and called there office several times to make sure I was doing everything right for prep. In addition, I received several of their texts "we look forward to seeing you" "if you have questions, feel free to call us" absolute lies. I received better service from the IRS and DMV.

The dentist however is dismissive and doesn't take much time with patients. it felt to me she wants to be in and out as quickly as possible. she speaks to the hygienist in medical terms without clarifying or explaining to me as the patient. I had to ask multiple times what she meant and what the problem was. I came in with an infected root canal, she told me this was critical but did not prescribe me with any antibiotics but sent me out with a referral to a specialist and a large fear of my infection rupturing. If you are in need of a basic cleaning and have no large concerns this is a good clinic but if there is a larger medical concern I would find another dentist who takes more time and care with their patients.

During this era, Dr. Pedroza was the primary dentist and my experiences have always been very good. Fast forward, 24 years (yes I'm 30 now) I still come here! Dr. Pedorza is gone, they have undergone a trendy remodel inside so everything is modern, and the dentist has changed to Dr. Skinner. He's young (I mean that in a good way, seems around my age) and is very friendly, great energy and easy to talk to. All of the staff is SUPER nice and they know what they are doing. My teeth can be a bit sore from cleanings, but that is normal and my own fault as I don't floss everyday ooopps. Anyways, my husband started going here and he had to have several DEEP cleanings (as he was lazy and didn't brush his teeth at night) SMH. But Dr. Skinner and the Staff took care of him and got his teeth looking pearly white. I mean they look better than mine now (jealous) and I have had braces so all my teeth are straight. Highly reccommend! 5 STARS!

Stay away from this dental office if you value your time, prefer professionalism and value honesty…read more In September, I took PTO to attend my initial cleaning and check-up, only to be informed during my X-ray scans that the dentist was out of the office. The staff acknowledged they chose not to inform me in advance, citing a concern that new patients might not rebook if they were canceled on during their first appointment. Withholding this information from a new client to retain business is both baffling and unprofessional. As someone with a busy schedule, I took PTO specifically to attend this appointment. I would have preferred rescheduling for a day the dentist was available rather than making an unnecessary visit. It's unfair to make that decision on behalf of patients, prioritizing potential revenue over transparency. Additionally, X-rays were taken despite the dentist being unavailable to review them, which is especially concerning given that insurance only covers X-rays once per year. Even so, I chose to give the office another chance, as the dental hygienist I saw was exceptional. When I scheduled a follow-up appointment, I requested explicitly to see the dentist to review my prior scans. Once again, however, I was canceled on - despite having taken additional time off to attend this appointment.Given the prior circumstances, staff should have ensured that the appointment aligned with the dentist's availability prior to confirming my appointment . I was willing to give this place a honest second chance- unfortunate that they met the same standards of practice that was exhibited during my first appointment. To be clear, I am human and understand the need to cancel appointments at time. However, the admitted dishonesty to retain customers, lack of transparency until after X-rays were received, and lack of diligence in scheduling a second appointment (for service I should have received in the first) , is why I will no longer be a patient at Hillsboro Dental Excellence.

As with all dental issues, my troubles have a history behind them: past root canal was done by another doctor years ago, and it was causing pain. Pain is a warning sign, so I wanted to get myself looked at. I was referred to Nguyen (Endodontist, also known as "Dr. Win" for easier pronunciation) & Garibov (Periodontist). They were fantastic! I say this being one of those people who generally strongly dislikes dentists, too. To run it down, I came into the office (on-time, unlike a previous review), handled my paperwork, and was quickly introduced to Dr. Win. He & I discussed my case, did a quick dental exam and CT scan, and then went over the particulars. As a part of this process, Dr. Win took the time to walk me through the results of my scan. I was, quite frankly, somewhat astounded, as most doctors don't bother to go that route. And I strongly appreciated Dr. Win's extra effort, here - it made me feel like I was a part of my own treatment rather than simply a commodity. Using the CT scan image, he showed where the problems in my mouth lay. We then discussed two options: a root canal to try to repair the remaining root, or extraction of the problem tooth. We agreed that trying to save the tooth was appropriate, and then he sent me over to Dr. Garibov so he could look at the affair from a different angle. Dr. Garibov was excellent as well. He performed an exam, explained what my issues were and what needed to be fixed, and looked at the problem tooth. We discussed the issue as well, and he agreed with Dr. Win's assessment. Off I went to schedule the surgery & sort out the financial details. I was then sent home to eat lunch, and later came back for my root canal. Dr. Win sat me down in the chair and made sure to numb me up so I wouldn't feel a thing, and then he got to work. Once he got my crown off & took a look, it became immediately obvious to him that saving the tooth wasn't going to be an option. The way my previous root canal was done made this impossible. Dr. Win stopped immediately & informed me, then set out to get Dr. Garibov involved once more: an extraction was needed. The folks at Polaris were so very considerate, too. Knowing that I didn't have the ability to reschedule thanks to upcoming travel plans that couldn't be delayed, they fit me in. Two procedures on the same day - color me impressed (and incredibly appreciative). I waited around a little while while Dr. Garibov handled other patients, and then, when he was ready for me I was brought back for procedure number two. It went smoothly, as Dr. Garibov and the nurse assisting him clearly knew what they were doing. It wasn't an easy day, given the medical troubles and the logistics associated with sorting me out. The staff at Polaris handled this with aplomb. They were caring, considerate, pleasant, and a joy to interact with. Dr. Garibov even called me the next day to make sure that all was well - even on his day off. That's just what I want to see from a doctor, as it shows a certain dedication. If ever I need a root canal or extraction done, I plan to come back. I'm glad I heeded the positive reviews found elsewhere, as this dental work could have been much more troublesome. If you guys at Polaris read this, THANK TOU!
