The front desk at Advantage Dental Hillsboro, on 3rd, is so lacking of information And empathy. They have the most stoic look on their faces and show no compassion for the patients in need of assistance. I was unable - as an existing patient- to see anyone when one of my front porcelain veneers came off. They didn't even pretend to care, not even, we are so sorry, what can we do? Nothing. They offered to let me wait in the office until someone just didn't show and even then I was told that the dentist would make no promises to provide service. When I tried to make an appointment for filling, it would be over 1-2 months before I could possibly get in. I do not recommend this location, it's not the dentist, but it's overbooked and inappropriately staffed. read more

I left this dentist for several reasons. First, the office staff always seemed a little unfriendly and I have had to sit through some long wait times as well. This dentist is also pricey, even though they are covered by my insurance. However, the single worst experience was that they performed work on me that they knew was not covered by insurance, without asking first! They claimed that it was to relieve the pain I told them I was in, but I had specifically told them I wasn't in a terrible amount of pain, that it was more of a discomfort. They refused to waive the charges and it wound up costing me a couple hundred dollars that I didn't need or want to spend. After that experience, I refuse to go back. read more

Getting an appointment was easy, calling, and getting a response was easy. But after getting care, it has been hell. I went in for a fill, an hour or two after the numbing I began to have pain, keep in mind I went in due to a broken tooth and it did not cause any pain whatsoever. Since care, My tooth has been giving me issues I've been sensitive to heat and cold. And it hurts to chew on that side of the mouth, i hear clicking from the tooth as if my fill is loose.where I'm getting at is I believe this could've been avoided. One way it could've been avoided is that my doctor could've not rushed, I felt like she was doing a sloppy job due to the time, right after she finished my fill maybe 2 min she said I was good to go. And immediately began to work with another person . If I knew that time was important to this doc , I could have requested another doctor. Due to the pain I am going to the ER. I used to recommend them, but can't anymore. We've gone here for 15 years and loved it. But the last 7 months everything has gone wrong. Not with dental care, that's still fantastic, but with scheduling & treatment of scheduling errors. Appointments canceled or rescheduled without notice - and NO apology. "We texted you." Except there is no cell phone on file for this reason - because I was also "texted" a schedule change and it didn't happen then either. So to solve the issue, I removed the number. Even that didn't work. Don't bother scheduling an appointment - the office staff have no idea how to follow through on one. They'll even say they called to reschedule, and never did. I like the dentist who has done the fillings on my teeth. As for the receptionist, she is NOT FRIENDLY whatsoever. I feel very un welcomed when I've come here, and the service is cold and impersonal. My mom has been here as well and feels the same way. She was told there was nothing they could do about her teeth and how they make her uncomfortable. They did little to ask about my health history or dental sensitivities. I don't think they did a bad job on the actual dental work, but I'm simply not happy with my experiences there and it's a place I do dread going to. Short and sweet answer: This location of Gentech Dentist has (from what I've found) an extremely professional staff, courteous service, and outstanding dentists. Explained review: I've had my fair share of dentists, I've been to the good and the bad. I recently had a root canal after having been away from the dentist for quite some number of years. Dr. Terry A Barghouti is not only a clearly seasoned professional, but has amazing interpersonal skills, a quality of standard that he enforces on himself, and amazing results (my mouth is proof). Not only was the work Dr. Terry did of quite the impressive caliber, but he took the time to explain to me the process, details, and concerns along the way. This helped me feel informed as a consumer, to not only realize what was happening to my mouth and why, but the methods of correction, actions for maintenance and prevention, as well as gave me a better understanding as to the intricacies that are involved with the amazing human mouth. To add to that, his assistant Lisa is outstanding to say the least. She exudes charm and friendliness, pays attention to the clients, truly seems to enjoy her job, and you can tell that there is an unspoken bond between them that allows for seamless treatment and efficient performance. Every time I've been in the facility this month (3 times in the last 8 days), I've continually been impressed with all aspects of this establishment. My son and I had been patients at Gentech Dental for over 15 years (and spent thousands of dollars with them including Orthodontia). I loved the office staff and the dentists (Dr. Elson was amazing but he left). Then Dr. Barghouti started. He was a nice enough guy, but always in a rush. In 12/2015 he did a root canal and fitted me for a bridge. I paid $2648 after insurance. The bridge didn't fit well. First, a corner broke because that side of my teeth met before the other side. Then, it felt like the bridge or the tooth it was connected to was loose. I continued to return to Dr. Terry with my concerns and he said that this area would "firm up". A friend at work mentioned that she had left Gentech because of a similar experience with Dr. Barghouti. Her tooth broke. So, I left. My new Dentist is great. The first thing he noticed was that my bridge was loose and almost ready to fall off. As he removed it, he mentioned that there were "all kinds of things wrong" with this bridge. I got a new one from him. It fit like a glove, looked great and cost a lot less. Trouble is because it was only 3 years since my last bridge, insurance wouldn't cover it. So, I had to pay for this bridge a second time in 3 years. My total cost for this bridge, $4742.00. I wrote to Gentech in March, explained the situation and asked for reimbursement for the second bridge due to the fact that the first bridge was defective. Finally, in June, they answered that they would not reimburse me. My guess is they don't think I will pursue litigation. Steer clear friends. The office staff is nice, but the prices are much higher than what I pay at a smaller dentist who is 10 times more skilled. read more

I started going to Gentech Hillsboro in 2013 when I moved to Tanasbourne. Between 2013 and 2020 I have been on Regence BSBC dental insurance. When I started going to Gentech in 2013 I was told the dentist they assigned me to accepted my insurance. I had no trouble seeing the dentist for regular 6 month checkups for three years. As far as billing went, Gentech billed as though I was in network for checkups and any other minor work I had to have done such as fillings, for example. Then in 2016 the dentist mysteriously started avoiding me. I would go in for a routine teeth cleaning and the hygenist would tell me the dentist wasn't there that day. This continued until recently when on Wednesday August 26, 2020 I got a call to confirm my next dental checkup appointment. The front desk person told me the dentist would no longer see me because he was not an in network provider on Regence BSBC insurance. This is highly unusual for any dentist to do this. If something changed and the dentist was no longer in network then I simply should have been billed for the difference between what my insurance paid and what the dentist charged (balance billing). Needless to say I cancelled my next appointment and will not be going to this very shady dentist office ever again. read more

I had been going to Gentech Dental for approximately 4 years and always have had a good experience. The dentists I saw were good, no complaints there. However, I can't say enough good things about Janice, my hygienist. She was always pleasant and took very good care of me, cleaning my teeth gently and thoroughly. We always had a great conversation when I was in (okay, sometimes it was hard for me as she was cleaning my teeth, but I still enjoyed it even if it was a bit one-sided). Janice just puts a smile on your face. She always gave me a bag of goodies when I left, and knowing I travel a lot for work, gave me extra tubes of toothpaste and other handy travel type items. I'm sorry to say I just moved out of the area down to Eugene, so unfortunately I won't be back, but I felt very fortunate to be a patient for the past four years. Thank you Janice!! read more

I just switched dentists because I am unhappy with the service I received here. No receptionist, unfriendly staff, hygeinist who left me sitting in the chair for more than 10 minutes while she went to look for toys for someone's kid in the waiting room. And she never took her mask off, even when she walked me out! They could never find my records in the system on top if that, and this is the second Gentech office I've been to over the past four years. Just not worth the frustration. read more

I used to go to Gentech around time Elson left and Tariq Barghouti came on. I was getting "deep" cleanings every 6months and when complained of sensitivity at gumline was given a crown. I made the mistake of waiting too long to go back to the dentist (12 years). I thought I took pretty good care of my teeth until I went to Gentech. I finally went because one of my teeth chipped. My visit was an amazing experience and I was greeted by everyone with a big smile. It was also the most informative trip to the dentist that I can remember. Tried to make an appointment online yesterday, got a email today saying someone will call me shortly. The person that called was very impersonal and only cared about my insurance info. She was very cold and uncaring. Within 30 seconds of us being on the phone she asked for my and my husband's ssn#. If you're looking for a company with more people skills and doesn't treat you like profit but as a person, I would look somewhere else. Funny I saw a commnet on Gentech's deep cleaning. (for another location, though), so I guess I'll write mine. I was with this Gentech for several years. No problem there. People were friendly and make you comfortable, etc. Then.. I walked in for a deep cleaning last year and that by far was the worst dental experience I'd ever had. The hygienist was the worst. The way she did her cleaning was really rough. In my experience, hygienists would usually talk to you as they do stuff but this person had none of that... even to say sorry when I frown and stuff. Indeed, I don't think she was paying attention to me at all. She would throw tools on my chest and they'd actually poke. ... There is more to this in this story (tooth damage that so strangely coincided with this cleaning), but I can not prove that it was caused by the cleaning so I'll not write about it. Well, to Gentech's credit, I filled in the feedback form on-line and, when I went back in, she was nowhere to be seen. I'm not sure whether this feedback is that useful since I don't know if she's still with Gentech (this or other ones) and I can't really describe/identify her to you guys. read more

A dentist here told me I had 14 cavities when I came in for a root canal. They did that root canal and a few fillings... my mouth still hurts to this day on the fillings. The doctor never even recommended a cleaning (until it was added after 2 previous visits because I said I wanted one) and all the other dentists I went to said that was odd. The dentist said they only recommended cleanings for presentations. Every other dentist recommends 2 per year and I needed one badly as I was away for 2 years at school. I felt better with getting a cleaning at a new dentist. Anyway.. Delta Dental thought the crown done was unacceptable and I had trouble getting another dentist to verify except for someone back home. Gentech argued it and I paid to avoid further issues. Anyway I am trying to re open the grievance. I have a new dentist that says I need a new crown because this one is clinically unacceptable. I am in danger of further damage unless replaced I am now told. So the new dentist has agreed to send his opinion to delta dental. Anyway. I heard dentistry is subjective. I was not happy with Gentech. I have learned to always ask around first and get a second opinion when it involves money. Maybe aggressive isn't always good. This was the most aggressive treatment plan of 3 local places. read more

Lena and Tana did my cleanings. They're warm, personable, thorough and gentle. Dr. Elson always checks to see how you're doing, if you feel pain, anxiety or if you need a break. He goes over each step and how long it will take. No surprises. Good bed-side manner. Edward, his assistant, is professional, non-obtrusive and gracefully assists. He knows when you need more suction to get all that weird stuff out. Sounds silly, but it's appreciated when you're captive in the chair and you can't talk, get up or spit. He's good. If I could leave two different reviews I would. The dentist, Dr. Tariq, was great. He pointed out several issues with my teeth my previous dentist of 20 years never mentioned I had wondered about. He was warm and i appreciated the blanket too. Sealed deal, right? The other shoe drops...I received a call to confirm my 2nd appointment for the next day. I looked at my calendar, and it was getting jammed. Could I change it? Yes she said. So I did. Next appointment -- I completely forgot. My fault and I know they lose money, felt terrible. I called as soon as I realized I had forgotten, apologized and asked about rescheduling and was told I couldn't reschedule without permission from the doctor. For one appointment missed? No, because I had also rescheduled before. I hadn't been told it would be a knock against me when I asked if I could. Also she also kept stopping and pausing without asking me a question: "I called and reminded you yesterday." Stop. "But you still didn't make the appointment." Stop. Me waiting for her to continue so we could talk about rescheduling. "Hello are you there!?" That was uncomfortable. I did decide after that call to get a watch that vibrates when I need to be on my way to an appointment, so there is that! read more

Both times have been here the lobby has been unattended, and I have received confused looks from hygienists as I waited in an empty reception room. The second time I came here a disheveled looking young man came into the waiting room after over five minutes and brusquely told me to fill out an information board... Which I had already filled out in my prior visit, but he ran to the back before I could inquire if it was necessary I refill it. Turned out I hadn't needed too. The female receptionist was unhelpful and unable to answer my questions about insurance billing, and it takes up to SIX WEEKS to file an mock insurance claim which of you happen to be a broke college student, is an important asset when budgeting. Not to mention, the exam room has a damaged, leaking ceiling with, dare I say, mold? Also, the Denist was unable to operate some of his dental equipment because the software was improperly installed. I'm giving this office one more chance simply to avoid the haste of finding a new office, but if my experience is negative again I will NOT be returning. read more

I was seeing Dr. Elson for many years at this location. But he left, and unfortunately, I did not write a review for him. He was very thorough. Lately, my visits have been sub par. My latest visit was last week, I had xrays done and all expecting the dentist to go through the images with me. That did not happen. The dentist saw me for less than a minute, two at most. Dr. Elson would have gone through the images with me, tell me what areas to pay attention to, etc. It's probably time to find another dentist. read more

I have had some pretty rough dentist experiences. When I submitted for an Appointment online, I explained the extreme anxiety I have and why. I have had nothing but great experiences here. I've been talked through every procedure, made comfortable, and they even help with financial anxiety too! I had a root canal done, and they worked with me on a payment plan that fit in my budget. There is a lot of work to be done with my teeth, so they set up a plan for the procedures that will be done, how much they cost, what my insurances covers, etc. It's been a few months since I've been in, and today I received a call to see if I wanted to make an appointment. They told me how much I have left for my insurance for the year, and helped me pick a procedure that would fit within my remaining insurance coverage and my budget. They even have a sense of humor! There is nothing that makes me feel more comfortable in any situation than the ability to be myself. By far, the best experience I've ever had. read more

Dr. Terry B. did a great job of 3 caps, 2 root canals and a filling. I won a voucher for a complimentary at home teeth whitening kit. I first called to ask about this voucher that I had won and was put on hold for over 15 minutes. I was at work and had to hang up. A week or two later I called again...again I was put on hold...a lot. If I was looking for a new dentist I would have already hung up and called elsewhere, as this is obviously an office that is clearly too overwhelmed to take calls in a professional and/or timely manner. Either way, I digress. When I was finally connected to someone with whom I could make an appointment to redeem my voucher, I was (rudely) first informed that the woman was "not sure if we could honor that." After I informed her that it had an expiration date on it and I was well within the deadline, she then (rudely) said, "well, where did you get it?" As if I was lying. I let her know I WON it at KidFest. She put me on hold...again. She came back after 10 minutes to let me know that no dentist would be available to see me to give me this AT HOME kit...no dentist would be available for two weeks?? This is ridiculous, rude and definitely not a good indication that this is a dentist I would ever want to see and / or advise my friends to see. Why would you even put such a voucher up to win at a FUN FAMILY EVENT if you never had the intention of redeeming it? Shame on you. read more
