Mind you, I hadn't even told him why I was there, what the truck had been doing or anything about it. I paid $160 I think it was, for the "diagnostic". That's where the right out of high school kid reads the codes and goes right down the line wanting to replace everything that his best guess could come up with. I'm a 30 year old woman but I'm not stupid. The kid said it needed a new ignition cylinder. I did some research. There was no way in hell that's what it could have been. They wanted me to pay for their locksmith to come out and make a second key to be sure that's what it was. I have a second key. "Oh well that's fine too." Trying to line their locksmiths pockets. They quoted me $300 to install the $9 part. I actually went by and said no way, that's not what it is, look for some other explanation. They called the next day saying now they didn't think it was the ignition cylinder. Shocker. Their next idea was the high pressure fuel pump. What a surprise. Quoted me around three thousand for it. I had a bad feeling about it. These people were not experienced enough. That, or they intended to scam me. I'd say probably both. I went up there to get the truck, the head guy was on vacation and left his workers there without any idea how to log into the office computer system. I waited 10-15 minutes for that to be figured out. While in the waiting room another lady told me her car had been there three months to fix the air conditioning. I had my truck towed back home. A mechanic that's a friend of a friend came and checked it out. It was the fuel filter housing. Replaced that. $400 If i didn't know any better and just let XperTECH do what they wanted, i would be out an additional $3300 for no reason. (The also tried to upsell me on the pump) Short and sweet? Don't use them.

Pats Transmission - highly recommended!…read more My transmission went out fairly violently at 1 am on 526 coming home from a business trip to Greenville. I have a 2020 F-150 Lariat with the 5 liter V-8 and 10R80 transmission. There is a known design flaw in that transmission from 2019 to I think 2023. Yet Ford won't recall it or give any consideration - even though it's a potentially serious safety issue to go from 70 mph to zero BECAUSE OF A KNOWN DESIGN FLAW! And they wanted $11,000 to replace it or I believe $8,500 to rebuild it. Mind you, this truck has been carefully maintained and driven, hitting all service intervals at Ford dealerships or other certified shops. Another mechanic told me about Pat's. Thank you Lord. We talked a few times as I was checking out some other options but I had the most confidence in Chuck and Pat's after doing some research. And it was a great choice! First note there's an old decrepit house between the highway and Pat's, but this is evidently NOT part of the business. The shop itself was neat and well organized. As is the waiting area/office. We discussed what day to drop it off and when it would be ready, which was within a week. And they nailed it. They used the newer OEM parts that have the design fix. My truck was clean when I picked it up, and is generally running and shifting better than new. Except for the slightly annoying issue of sometimes rough shifts mainly between 4, 5, and 6 - which is a know issue that smooths out after 1,000 miles or so as the (many) computers "learn and adapt". This actually has gotten a lot better. The cost? About $5800. Super happy with Pat's Transmission and definitely recommend them!

We were on a trip from FL to Charleston and we caught a nasty screw in our tire. After changing to…read morethe spare, I figured we'd get to the hotel and then figure out where to take it. Lo and behold a few miles later, we see the sign for Tower Tire. Figured it was worth a shot. We walked in, I explained the situation and they immediately got me into a bay to examine. Meanwhile my kids and wife waited in the office and the lady at the front desk (I wish I could remember her name, sorry!) even went out of her way to find the exact show my kids asked for on the TV. They also took them into the back and let them watch the technicians replace the tire. They inspected the other tires and I was fully expecting them to tell me I need 3 more as well, as I have experienced that up-selling before. But, they were HONEST and let me know my others were good and all we needed was the one new tire. I even had a work call and was being given information on the phone and before I could ask, she has a pen and paper for me to take down what I needed to remember! We were in and out in 30 minutes and back onto vacation mode. Huge thank you to Tower Tire for going above and beyond, great customer service, honest technicians and office staff.
