I spoke with Katie who seemed to be the only adult in the store at the time. I saw on the door that each session cost $48, but if you have insurance, it could cost much less. I left my contact information so I can find out the exact cost. If things work out as I expect them to, I will have the total cost for my friend. Personally, I thing the low cost of 48 per session will be enough to get him going. Nevertheless, if the price can be lower, why not take it... To be continued.

My symptoms had been blamed on pulled muscle and other things for years, so by the time I got the right diagnosis, my hip was not in great shape. He explained my options thoroughly, risks/benefits of surgery, etc, and I never felt rushed. On followbut, I had biceps tendonitis, and he fit me in for a steroid injection, no problem. Both surgeries went well. My left did better, but it was done earlier, and honestly, I followed instructions better. I was able to run and do the things I wanted again. I was always able to get an appointment with him in a timely fashion. Sometimes, there may be a wait, but I would rather have a doctor who doesn't rush through your appointment than one on time.

I saw three separate hip surgeons, and came to Ochiai after numerous recommendations from others. I've talked to no fewer than 20 people that have had hip arthroscopy with various surgeons. I've spoken with people that have had horrific experiences with recovery and results from the same procedure that I have. I have also talked to some who urged me to have the procedure because it improved their quality of life dramatically. Here is what I will tell you: your surgeon's experience and skill matter. Choose a surgeon that specializes in the procedure you need and commit to the physical therapy. I am absolutely convinced that Ochiai has a great deal to do with what I am going to characterize as a relatively easy recovery. I would recommend him without reservation for hip arthroscopy. I'm now three weeks after surgery and here is what I will tell you: -The procedure was far easier than I anticipated in many ways, and more difficult in others. The upshot is surgery was worth it and I wish I hadn't waited. I'm frankly stunned at how reasonable my recovery was. - I was not really in pain following surgery, just discomfort for a few days. I was off narcotics within 24 hours after surgery. I believe I took two narcotic pain pills after leaving the surgical center. - The worst things to anticipate about this surgery are 1) needing to have someone to help you out for the 48 hours or so afterward, 2) understanding that you will have to commit to wearing a brace for about 6 weeks afterward and to be on crutches for approximately 1-4 weeks after, and 3) understanding PT is a commitment for months after. - I live in a house with lots and lots of stairs. They were no problem. If you have a symptomatic torn labrum or pinching from FAI then I urge you to see Ochiai.

I have been meaning to thank Dr Petersen for a while now, and write a review. This is my story: In…read moreJuly 2020, i was riding a capitol bikeshare down 23rd street in Arlington VA near my house. I ride that bike almost daily to go to my gym a mile up/downhill. I started loving biking and hills especially climbing up and coasting down. On a particular day, on my smooth coast down 23rd street, i pressed on brake lightly as i usually did, and the brake suddenly locked. My body went flying in the air at a 45 degree angle, i think i did a roll because i was intuiviey trying to save my head, i landed directly on my right elbow and ribcage. at that moment, i actually thought i was perhaps dead or unconcious. A nice young man, got off his bike and called 911. The ambualce came and to me to VA hospitial center. I thought I broke ribs but nope i compeltely shattered my right elow, open compound fracture. I stayed overnight and was put on meds, they told me i needed surgery first thing. I have never been in surgery. I was ready to die. I thought i might. I prayed and went into the O.R., I saw Dr Peterson under the mask and i asked him If I had a choice, he basically said not much if i ever wanted to get my elbow back working. Long story short, I woke up and had a new screw in my elbow. My parents took me home to NJ where I was not allowed to do much for 6 weeks and the slowly started PT at Inova in Arlington. I called Dr Petersen several times overnight, in pain, scared to death. Once the bone healed, he encouraged me to keep trying to used it, to go to PT and ordered me a dynaplint to help get my rage of motion back. For almost 2.5 months i could not brush my hair, teeth, or eat with my right arm, Over time, slowly I got my fork closer and closer to my mouth each week. By the time of my birthday, sept 16th, i went to dinner with friends and (yes see my current yelp photo), that is me getting my fork to my mouth!!! I was very elated to do push ups again by october and played tennis by spring 2021. Its now FEb 2022, and my elbow has almost full range with pin inside. I might eventually have to get it removed depending on pain and if there might be future setbacks. But for now, I am grateful i can bend and extend and not be in pain. In sum, a year and half later, I just am grateful also for the guy who called 911, the ER staff and Dr Petersen who worked with skill and care, to recover my elbow, it was the scariest day of my life, but I am healing well. Thank you Dr Petersen and Orthovirgina team:)

I was admitted the same day, was able to be monitored overnight and be provided pain management, and had the surgery scheduled the following day - I am now pain-free, and I just can't thank Dr. Nayak enough! The front staff as well as the assistants/nurses are all so friendly, kind, and welcoming - I was also able to be squeezed in for an appointment, which really never happens with a specialist; the amount of compassion and empathy that this office has is amazing. All my follow-ups have been wonderful, and the office is very responsive in answering any questions/concerns. and/or providing refills on medication(s). If you're looking for a neurosurgeon, there is only one doctor you should be trying to get an appointment with, and that's Dr. Nayak. He is extremely kind, provides a breakdown of everything, answers all your questions, has the best bedside manners, is an expert, and he holds all these accolades/awards/recognitions. I cannot speak to other surgeons, but I can about Dr. Kader…read more Do not use Dr. Kader as your surgeon. Though I was recommended a different surgeon, Dr. Murry, I went with Kader to get the surgery done before the 2016 year was out. I paid for that mistake. Kader made no major slipups, but in doing the C5-C6 fusion he ended up tightening the spaces around the foramina, the places where the nerves traveling to the arms and back exit the spine - even though I had told Kader that I was an active amateur musician, and that playing was a big part of my life. Within two weeks after the surgery I started noticing symptoms down my arms and into my hands that were not there before the surgery. Except for brief periods, they did not go away, and slowly grew worse and worse. Kader refused to see any problem and only told me to take more drugs - even a year and a half after the surgery. Finally, my pain doctor recommended Dr, Ellegala of Sonospine. Three months ago he opened up the spaces that Kader closed, and my hands already feel stronger and more dexterous than they have in years. Ellagala's surgery technique isn't covered by insurance, and I had to pay $30K, but he fixed Kader's bungle, so it was worth it. But I'd rather not have had to pay it in the first place. When you pick a surgeon, you want someone who is committed to doing the best he or she can for you. Abraham Kader is not that surgeon, so he is not the surgeon you want. Go with Murry if you can.
