Owner and employees are very helpful. I personally met the owner of the business, such a nice gentleman.

We run a charity and we had a walking pilgrimage planned for months. I twisted my ankle 3 days…read morebefore the pilgrimage and was sure I was not going to go unless I find someone that had a wheelchair. No luck with that, we decided to call many different medical supply companies and Howard was the only responsive company that seemed genuinely interested to help us. We explained what we were doing and Camela was very thrilled when he heard about our charity and event. She was very nice and even suggested a scooter will be better if I want to move more freely on the pilgrimage. She was able to accommodate us in a very special way. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great service from people who care.

She is doing well, still needs a cane but she cannot walk more than a couple of blocks. But, by god, nothing's going to stop her. "I am getting on Amtrak and coming to Chicago!" she tells you. My mother is nothing if not ballsy - or should I say "ovariesy?" I fret, "what are we going to DO with her? She can't keep up with us." This is where Howard Medical Company comes in. This place is the bomb! $15 per day gets you a 18" transport wheelchair (250 lb. weight capacity) - SO easy to fold up, has handles to carry it - fits into your Honda Civic tiny ass trunk. I talked to a woman named Bernie by phone - nice as hell - who says "we have plenty - no need to worry." They open at 8 am - I am there at 8:05 am - assisted by yet another wonderfully nice employee named Jim. He shows me how to fold it, adjust it, etc. This is too easy -pinch me, I am dreaming. I race home to our apt, Metropolis coffee in hand, and say, "Duretta Jean, get in the car - we are Chubby Girl walking at the lake!" Then to Target, then neighborhood strolling, then...oh the possibilities are now endless! A week I was once dreading has now become so much easier. Check them out!

My dad and I were at home all day so it was not an issue for us; however, I can see it being difficult for someone who had a caretaker who was not at home all the time. The equipment they brought over was in ok condition. There were some that were quite dusty so always make sure to wipe everything down if possible especially the bed. The hospital bed's remote they gave us was so dirty, I had to clean it and wrap in saran wrap since I did not know where it had been haha. Each delivery is brought in, set up and taken away by one driver. All of our drivers were very friendly, courteous and efficient. We especially got along well with Hector and Mario. I do however agree with a couple of negative reviewers who noted that it is quite cold that they try to get the equipment removed as soon as a hospice patient dies. They called us probably an hour after my mom passed to schedule a time to pick up the equipment. The funeral home wasn't even there at that time. They thankfully let me schedule the pick up for a week after but it would have been nice if they could have given at least a day for the families to grieve before having to think about logistics like equipment pick up.

I need a night sleeve to treat arm lymphedema post bilateral mastectomy for breast cancer. In order for insurance to pay, my lymphadema therapist has to send a doctor's order to a company like Luna for fulfillment. Luna wants to charge my insurance $887 for a night sleeve that I can purchase on any number of websites directly for $270 without using insurance. That's a $500 markup that Luna's making on a $270 sleeve. I would prefer to go through insurance so the cost will apply to my deductible, but since I haven't met my deductible for the year, I would be responsible for paying the full $887. So, I will buy it myself directly, but will not benefit from having the $270 cost applied to my deductible. These practices are why our private medical insurance premiums are so high. This is why Medicare is going broke. Because third-party companies like Luna are raking in insane profits for maybe an hour of paperwork. Shame on Luna Medical for taking advantage of the lack of government regulation to line their pockets with exorbitant profits. Shame on Luna Medical for profiting off of the pain and suffering of patients. There is nothing in this world more sinister. I have worked with other companies like Comfort Care Medical who do not mark up to this degree. Response to manager, Curtis: Had I accepted the quote today when you guys called me, I would have had to pay you the $870 because I haven't met my deductible. For the exact same product I can find online for less than $300. So where does that $500 difference go if not to revenue? Perhaps I should've said revenue rather than profit. I understand you need to be paid for your service but that's a large $ discrepancy that isn't explained by your response.

He had already tried that and it was worse than our couch recliner. She suggested that renting a powerlift chair might be helpful. It was on the pricier side, but the only other idea she had. Well, we thought about over lunch and just decided to just purchase a chair. Terri showed us the options and let us just try out the chairs on our own time. We never felt rushed. It was obviously more than we originally thought of doing, but we are sure we won't regret it in the future. The only thing that didn't make us happy, and why this isn't four stars, was the price tag. We picked the chair we liked best & thought the price was what was on the tag. There were options below the big price, like heat & massage, which were things that could be added to the base. Oh, but the material that the chair used was on that list (which we didn't realize because it was not a common name). It was not in the large number on the price tag and added $900 to the price. We didn't know this until we were checking out. We do not blame Terri for this, but the company that thought this was a good idea. The tag should have had the final price, before taxes & delivery not the base price if you could buy it off of the floor like we did.
