We had a team from Advanced Exteriors paint our two story home in Encinitas with Rino shield. The crew was very professional and neat. They were able to paint around and through bougainvilleas that have been there for decades. They also were gentle around 6ft fuchsia plants. The house looks great. We are very satisfied customers. read more

I was very pleased with not only the Quality of the work but the Professionalism of the crew. Mario was my lead painter , he is very pleasant and friendly as well as extremely detail oriented. They took care of my home as well as I would have done. the job site was clean and nothing was left undone. this is the company to use for your project home owner in El Cajon read more

We would give this Company a 10 if we could. Everyone was so nice and respectful during the entire process. The communication was great if we had any questions. The prep and cleanup were exceptional as well. Miguel and crew went above and beyond to make sure everything was done correctly. This procedure is incredible and not like any other paint. It looks like it will last for years to come and will live up to its 25-year warranty. read more

The crew was great. They went above and beyond. I'm so happy with how our house came out!

The prep work was exceptional. And the finished job was absolutely beautiful. Felt like I really got my moneys worth. It was great dealing with an company. read more

I hired Advanced Exteriors 17yrs ago to paint my 80+ yr old home. Paint still good on north wall, but others did finally need repaint last 2 yrs. I called Martin. He arranged his inspection for his home office approval. I did get 7 gallons of paint for my painter to touch up. Looks great again. It was expensive then, but product was worth it ! My 100 yr old home looks fresh! read more

Great customer service and one of a kind product. The crew works hard and I feel like they earned by business and my personal referral when people ask about our paint job. Worth the money. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this company.... From the first phone call to the last day on this job our experience was incredible....Martin came to our home and explained in detail the exact process...every detail was followed out exactly as presented! The crew was a pleasure to work with and the same exact crew stayed on the job from beginning to end... Keep in mind that Rhino Shield is a product that is guaranteed for 25 years... it is such a relief that we will not have to worry about the exterior of our home for the rest our lives! Thank you Advanced Exteriors for a job well done! We have received nothing but compliments on how beautiful our house looks....!!! read more

We live in La Mesa and pass this place often so when we were ready to paint/re-stucco our house we gave them a call. When I called to make an appointment I was asked if both homeowners would be present because apparently Rhino Shield will pay Advanced Exteriors for the estimate if we were both there. I said yes, but one of us might have to leave real quick during the estimate to go pick up our kids from school. The lady on the phone said 'no problem' so we booked our appointment for 4:00 pm. The gentleman who showed up for the quote (I missed his name and he didn't give us a business card so we will call him "Dick") was about 15 minutes late to the appointment. He walked around our house with us and then had us sit down with a ridiculous binder full of outdated reviews, BBB comments, contractor licensing documents, and other information for us to review. We then had to watch a DVD of Dick explaining the Rhino Shield process and he again went over what was in the binder during the DVD presentation. Let me some up both the ridiculous binder and DVD for you: We are the best. Every other house painter sucks. Around 5:15 pm my husband told Dick he had to leave to pick up the kids real quick but that I was still home. He became agitated and asked when my husband would be back. My husband said about 20 minutes. Dick then came into our house, grabbed his ridiculous binder and DVD, and asked if he could come back at 6:00 pm. I said sure, I apologized for the inconvenience and told him the lady I made the appointment with said one of us leaving real quick would be okay. Dick never showed up at 6:00 pm. We have not heard from Dick or Advanced Exteriors since then. Not one follow up. We had just refinanced our house and have the money to invest in Rhino Shield as we really believe in the product but I don't feel like we were taken very seriously by Dick. Maybe because we are a younger couple with young kids as most of their clients are over 50? We didn't need this hard sale, we just needed a quote. I wish there was another company in San Diego that could apply Rhino Shield because we were really turned off by this experience with Advanced Exteriors. With this review that you will probably never see in the ridiculous binder, can anyone recommend a great house painter? read more

I brought a home and Advanced Exteriors painted the house in 2020. Its less than 3 years and there are a few hairlines cracks and water leak through the wall. I called Martin to come out and take a look to see what he could do for us since it's not that long ago since he worked on the house. He was so arrogant and disrespectful. He informed me that the paint is only warranty for 25 years under these conditions: blistering, chipping, and peeling. I was super disappointed in his response and I would definitely not use this company again. He thinks he knows it all but came to my house super unprepared and didn't want to do anything. I had to provide him with the tools to show him that the hairlines cracks are the reason for the leak. I don't think they did a good job using the Rhino Shield Paints to paint my home. On top of that, their warranty is false advertisement because it's not protected for 25 years. I would look for another company. read more

Based on the reply, and some simple digging around... I have to respond to these lies about my character. Thank you though. Multiple people, to include myself, have shared their discourse with your quote process and you have confirmed multiple times how you present your business. I was never rude to the older man that came to my house. I feel I must explain what happened on the phone when I made the appointment: I was asked if my wife would be present. It was never explained that my wife **must** be there as a state law requirement... As stated before, the man explained that he would not do the quote without both homeowners and that I was made aware of this. I feel there is a difference between being asked if someone is going to be there and a **requirement** for someone to be there... semantics. When my wife had to leave suddenly and unplanned, the advanced exteriors employee very plainly said he couldn't do the quote and I very plainly told him I would go get his stuff for him. I asked if he was sure that this was the stance he wanted to take? I also made him aware that my wife allows me to make the decisions for home repairs and it's OK (I would fill her in later). Your employee showed that he was very set in his ways. I went inside to get his binder and he left. This would be the 5 minutes we spent together. No one was ever rude. Not him, not me. There was a misunderstanding from the beginning about the "state law" requiring both homeowners to be present (LOL). I would hardly say anyone was rude. I mean, a child not getting their own way may think this was a rude encounter, but adults would see this as "things didn't work out". While I am here clearing up lies about my character... I would like to shed some light to advanced exteriors and their character. Specifically with some of the 5 star reviews on Yelp. I find it fishy that a few of them do not have personal photos, have an extremely small amount of reviews (some only have advanced exteriors as their only review), and they are often left on the same day that Advanced Exteriors has responded to a negative post... such as mine. No one can see a time stamp of when this business has replied, but it's October 3rd today and yesterday they replied to my original review. Take a look at the post by Ryan A (left Oct 2nd) and Marshall G.... Very peculiar. I would have to guess the true star rating for this company is probably in the mid to low 3 range. In the past 13 months, A lot of people are not happy with work performed or how they issue quotes. I am definitely not happy that anyone said I was rude in anyway. Like I stated before, this is a company of liars and truth stretchers. I do believe they have a company called advanced exteriors... and that's about it. Advanced Exteriors, good luck with your 50 year old business model. To everyone in YELP world, a warranty is only good if the company is still in business to honor it. By the way... I had just refinanced my house, I was prepared to cut a check on this day. My house is in much need of some repairs. No one needed to sell me. You just had to hand the quote over. I am unbelievably happy this didn't work out between us. You have so many poor reviews on what happens when you are hired. The quote process is a sham, so are some of your 5 star reviews. I dodged a bullet and for that, I thank you. read more

We are scheduled next month to have Advanced Exteriors come and paint our house. Reading all of your reviews has been helpful and exciting to know that we've made a great decision to use Advanced Exteriors. We will get back to you once the job has been done and completed. The best part about having Advanced Exteriors Rhino Shield our home was the crew. Saul & Ivan were great! They worked hard everyday for 2 weeks and our home turned out beautifully. My husband and I are very happy with the job they did. Highly recommended! read more

I just want to make your management team aware of our total satisfaction. We have been working with various contractors and subcontractors for the last six months. We have had windows installed, doors replaced, stamped concrete laid, electricians, plumbers and landscapers all here at our residence. But we have never been so pleased as we were with your employees and it's been well over 10 years since our initial service. That is how much of an impression you made on us! Vincente and his crew were very professional, very kind and respectful, and above all they were concerned with our discomfort and very courteous. They did a very professional job. We have never experienced the satisfaction from any contracted job as we did from your crew. Our initial service was 12 years ago in 2008. I had my house coated with Rhino Shield by Advanced Exteriors. We recently took your recommendation and used LA Awesome to clean some of the pollution off our walls and the house looks like the day you painted it! Everything they said was true. We only had 1 service call in 12 years, and it wasn't a warranty issue and Advanced Exteriors fixed it with NO HASSLES. I highly recommend this company and they have the best employees. Our home is just beautiful, we love it and so do our neighbors :-) read more

We had the exterior of our home and our trim painted 15 years ago by Advanced Exteriors. Martin Montoya, the company CEO, was a pleasure to deal with and gave us a fair quote. The Rhino Shield paint has held up exceptionally well as advertised. His painters were professional, courteous and diligent in their work as well as cleaning up each day. Last year we experienced a minor stucco cracking at the base of our home caused by an errant sprinkler. Martin and his team did a wonderful job is responding and making the repairs and repainting in a timely manner. We highly recommend Advanced Exteriors, Martin Montoya and the Rhino Shield paint. You can't go wrong hiring this quality company for your painting needs. read more

We gave Advanced Exteriors 5 stars. We are very happy with the Rhino Sheild paint job done on our main house, guest house and two sheds. The painters, Mike and Josh were very meticulous in their prep and detailed in their painting. Also, very clean and wanting to make sure we were happy. The owner Martin and Melissa the office manager were always available to answer all our questions and concerns. The Rhino Sheild applied to our wood exterior made our house look stunning. It also held up wonderfully through the harsh and rainy weather this past winter here in Julian. Advanced Exteriors did a top notch job and we highly recommend them. read more

Wow. Can't even believe this place is still in business. Was told they are to busy to only do trim on our house. So we decided to get an estimate for our whole house. Owner came out to give estimate. He showed up an hour and a half late. He insisted that I have to watch a video and go over his 45 minute sales pitch. When I told him I was homeschooling my kids and didn't have the time he was very upset and left without giving me an estimate. read more

6 months in and so far very pleased , we will see how it holds up over the years. Very satisfied with costumer service, the crew was amazing, super friendly, helpful, respectful, clean and knowledgeable about there job. My last paint job only lasted seven years due to fading, cracking, peeling and staining. I had a paint bid for $12,000 on a 6,200 square-foot house. It just makes sense to have one paint job that last 30+ years and not have to worry about the hassle of having my house painted every seven years also I live in a high fire area and feel protected with the fire and smoke retardant rhino Shield on my home! read more

Advanced Exteriors is the one to select. We had Advanced Exteriors paint our stucco home 10 year ago and the coating is still looking and performing as new. I'm completely disappointed with this company. Not in the work they do but the service. I just asked the Owner of the company get off my property because of how he talked to me and the time mis-management. It started with waiting a week for an appointment which then was cancelled right before it. Then, I made another appointment for a week later. 20 min after the time they were to be here they called saying their going to be late. 30 min later the Owner called saying he would do the estimate. Let me explain that the owner of the house I live in (for 20 years) asked me to get estimates and they will go with whomever I chose. Finally, the guy shows up and precedes to tell me he doesn't want to talk to me about the costs because I won't be able explain it to the owners wners. I told him it's more than clear that he does want my business because if he did he wouldn't have talked to like I'm stupid. At this point I told him "get off my property, we are done! read more

Advanced Exteriors did a fabulous job on prepping and painting our house. The team of Sergio, Miguel and Justino were always prompt, and worked through the day making everything perfect. They were considerate of us and at the end of each day Sergio walked us around the house to go over what had been done and the next day's plan. The amount of prep work was significant which showed in the finished product. The owner, Martin Montoya, explained the process and was always available to us and checked in several times during the project. Additionally, his office assistant, Susie, was pleasant and efficient. We thank them all for their efforts. Gary and Renee B. read more

This review is long over due and is really more about their customer service. A few months back I had Advanced Exteriors repair my home. The work, once completed was good work. However, as I've stated this is customer service based. My home was ready for the next stages when everything went to a halt. I didn't see anyone or get any phone calls on the reason for the job not being completed. I called and spoke with Melissa (I believe that was her name) and she assured me that all was well but my project manager was ill and they would keep in touch. After almost 3 weeks with no calls and no one returning my calls, my project manager shows up one day with a big smile and dyed hair. Later in the day, my wife finds out from the painter... he went on a Alaskan cruise. Wow! The audacity. Fair warning....If your project stalls, you better go talk to your local travel agent. read more

We had our home painted in October 2016 (almost 6 years ago) and it still looks almost as good today as it did when it was newly painted. We had our house treated with Rhino Shield about a month ago. We originally contracted to have it done nearly 8 months ago but because of several factors including a death in the family, repair of termite damage and other issues we had to keep postponing. Martin and his employees were always available when needed and always understanding and accommodating when we had to postpone once again. Martin even answered his cell phone and gave us the information that we needed on a Sunday when the office was closed. Once the job was scheduled, Mario and Miguel did an outstanding job, going over the entire house grinding, sanding and smoothing rough spots, driving in loose nails, patching bad spots in the stucco, and making sure the house was properly prepped. If they had a question about anything, they didn't just assume, they consulted with us and even fixed a couple of small things that they didn't have to. The masking of window and doors was very precise and I only found one spot high up under an eave that was very simple to take care of. They did have to re-do some of the masking because the storms but no complaints. Late on the day that they sprayed the primer, a rainstorm was approaching. Our color coat was still being mixed, so they rolled on a coat of an almost-matching color just to protect the sticky primer and keep blown leave etc. from sticking to it. Then it rained nearly every day for a week, delaying them from working. When the rain was over, they went back to work and finished the job in about 3 days. We are absolutely thrilled with the look and the workmanship. The hardest part of the entire process was choosing the color. They were very accommodating and helpful in the process. We couldn't be happier with the outcome. read more

I had the pleasure of hiring Advanced Exteriors to paint the exterior of my home using the Rhino Shield system with a guaranteed life of twenty five years and could not be more happy with the results. I set an appointment to have an estimate done and the sales representative couldn't make it. Rather than postpone the appointment Martin Montoya, the owner, showed up. I found him extremely well versed in his product and he spent as much time as I needed to make an informed decision which I am glad I did. The crew was professional, efficient, clean, and did a great job. The crew cleaned up every night and left my home clean before they left. They didn't cut any corners and did a fantastic job for me. The end result was greater than I could have hoped for and my home is the nicest on the block! I would recommend Advanced Exteriors to anyone and I do recommend them to everyone I know who is thinking of having a house painted. Regrettably, just to get a quote, they have a policy that requires BOTH husband and wife to be on hand, AND that you must allow for up to two hours with their sales monkey...in other words, they want to wear you down and hopefully CLOSE you on the spot! As such, I will not be doing business with them--because they have decided I am not worth their time if I don't agree to these stipulations. Looks like they get 5-star reviews and are likely doing quite well, so who needs me, huh? Beware, as the middle class diminishes and the retired baby boomers hold on to their money, companies like Advanced Exteriors will eventually disappear, making the feel-good warranty they tout invalid. Lifetime (or 25 year) warranties are often bogus anyway...the supplier will always come up with reasons why something YOU did or didn't do is the reason the product has failed, which invalidates the warranty. FACT: Hardly anyone ever reads the fine print in a multi-page warranty--and they know it. Finally, speaking from multiple bad experiences, just recognize that home remodel contractors--in general--are a nefarious bunch that promise the world and then debate with you everything you automatically expected to happen...once they start. Don't sign a vague contract; define every little point in precise wording, and do some research beforehand to know what they might try to skip or gloss over. read more

My first dealings with the company came telephonically with the very polite young ladies making the appointments. Very professional over all and were able to answer all of my initial questions. On the day of the appointment, I received a call approximately 45 minutes before the appointment time. Martin, the owner of Advanced Exteriors, called to say they would be unable to make the appt today, and asked if he could reschedule. Well....you know how that goes, there is not enough time in the day and rescheduling anything is difficult. After a little discussion over the semantics of it all, he stated he would come to my residence himself and we will keep the same appointment time. I appreciated the gesture and didn't expect it. So bonus points for that one. Upon Martin's arrival to my home, he measured the residence and gave me a video and a large folder to look through while he was outside. The video, short but informative, discussed the process. The folder was filled with recommendation letters from previous customers and other positive commercial material. Martin and I spoke for about two hours and he explained the process and was able to answer all my questions professionally and thoroughly. We talked pros and cons and he was very honest about everything, which I appreciated it. He even gave me his personal cell phone number to call with questions. I haven't decided on whether or not I'm going with Rhino yet (yes, the financial commitment is significantly higher than a standard paint job!!) ...but I can say Martin was very informative, professional, and able to answer all my questions. We talked everything from the chemical process of the product to the BBB and Contractors licensing board. If I choose to have the process done, I'm sure I will be happy and satisfied for many years. As of this writing....I'm definitely leaning their way! read more

It was 4 years ago that we hired Advanced Exteriors to coat and paint our house with Rhino Shield. This has been far more durable than house paint would be and we are very satisfied with their work and service. When the work was done, they described exactly what they were going to do in terms of clearing next to the house, how long the process would be, and then promised to clean up. All of this was done and done to our satisfaction. Not only has the coating been very durable but, where some minor issues did pop up, Advanced Exteriors has been very responsive. Therefore, I can recommend both Advanced Exteriors and the Rhino Shield process based on our experience. read more

I am currently in the process of having work done by these guys and they are nothing short of exceptional! From the very first time Martin came out to give me a quote I could tell I could trust these guys. They've been around for a long time and have quite the good reviews. Not only that, their price was very fair and Martin was very low pressure, which is so rare these days. Most companies want to wear you down and close you on the spot. Then, Mike and his crew came out to do the job and they have been awesome! They take the time to learn what I want and to do the job right. Every day they clean up every little mess and make sure my house/yard is exactly as it was before they got there. So far I am absolutely impressed with their work and customer service. Such a rarity these days! Very pleased with my choice to do business with them. PS: To those complaining about having to have your spouse there, that is CA law and common for any contract signing. Advanced Exteriors is a superb company! From the first time we met with the President, Martin Montoya,we knew we were in good hands! Martin was easy to work with, sincere in his desire to help us achieve our goals with our home and had tremendous interpersonal skills. Not only was Martin service oriented, but his staff also reflected the same sense of integrity and service centered dedication! The workers who performed all facets of our project were all selected by Martin for their work ethic... everyone gave 100% until the work was completed to our satisfaction! The Team leader, Raul, was a dynamo and led by example... with a keen eye and superb skills, he added finishing touches that made our home shine! The Office Manager, Melissa McBride, was also knowledgeable, very courteous and always available to answer any question that arose. She even waited after hours to help us get additional guidance on selecting our paint color and taught us how to use a paint color guide. The entire experience seemed effortless! Of course, like many homeowners, we had questions about the work being done and never did we feel that any question was too insignificant to address! Martin was ALWAYS at the ready to meet with us to answer questions and help us better understand the preparation / paint process....this made us even more confident in our decision to use Advanced Exteriors!
