Well called to consider them as a potential dental office & the receptionist was very abrasive regards to how they charge a patient upfront $275 & patients responsibility to seek reimbursement from any insurance provider. Fine. Just not friendly in her delivery maybe she's unaware this is a business and -service provider. Very hard to find a great all around dentist in SD area but based on overall conversation this office seems more interested in the practice of being sure they get paid more importantly than 1st impressions, she was quick to offer ending our call when I raised question, but perhaps the receptionist just needs customer service training. Dr. Popp's office has an amazing staff... friendly and personable.. All of my children and their spouses go there. The office is impeccable. Their staff starts with Marnie greeting you... Amanda the best hygienist and Michelle, Dr. Popp's assistant. They always may you feel comfortable, and reassuring during any procedure you are having. Sadly disappointed. As a new patient we received a very big push for Invisalign even though all three of us had already had braces, and we weren't offered the free whitening kits advertised to new patients. When we were not contacted for our 6 month cleaning appointment, after two years of being regular customers, I called and was informed that our active duty military insurance will no longer cover our cleanings. That seems really disrespectful to those serving in harms way, especially as the base and military community makes Coronado the affluent place that it is. read more

Dr. Popp has been my dentist for a very long time. Great dentist! Had tried ones my union has contracts with and found they just could not cut the mustard. Her staff is great at showing their care. She keeps learning new techniques including laser drilling. She NEVER uses amalgam for fillings so no mercury in her office. Her office has a relaxing atmosphere with the waterfall in the lobby and the scent of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies early in the day. read more

Great staff. Friendly and personable. Dr. Popp knows her stuff and does it all in a spotless office and incredibly professional atmosphere. My wife, daughter, and I all go here for our cleaning, maintenance, and cosmetic work. The best thing is that if your appointment is at 10:15, you're in the chair being worked on by 10:20. There is no sitting in the waiting room for half an hour after your appointment time. They run a very effective and efficient operation. I only wish my 4 year old could go, but I don't believe Dr. Popp sees young ones until 7 years old or so. Double check this though, that may have changed. read more

She not only has taken care of my dental problems but she also took care of my wife's problems when she needed help when she was bed ridden for a short period of time. One star is probably not completely fair but take it as a warning. The actual dentistry was fairly o.k. though I agree with the other post an expensive way to do business, paying up front and then having to wait for insurance reimbursement (seems a bit archaic compared to other practices). The equipment and facility was severely dated and in desperate need of upgrading. The big caution and reason to just go elsewhere is their little known policy on cancelations. The never come out and tell you up front when you make an appointment but they certainly will charge you for missed visits. Stay away, it is not worth the risk or hassle and there are way better and more modern dental practices out there. read more

I was a long-time patient of Dr. Popp's who, for the most part, was satisfied - Until, post-cancer, I decided to "treat" myself to a full mouth restore for which I paid thousands of dollars. After months and months of problems with lab errors, shade mismatching, gaps, bite issues, speech difficulties, loose/shifting crowns, pain/sensitivity, gum issues, a front crown falling out multiple times - and being told to carry superglue around, find a speech therapist and/or that I was a "difficult" patient, I received a letter terminating our doctor/patient relationship immediately. Still trying to figure out a permanent solution for the failing crown, for which I paid Dr. Popp the price of a permanent crown but which was never permanent, I went elsewhere and found out I had 9 abscesses under the relatively new dental work. The biggest insult? Despite repeated efforts on my part, I've been unable to get any communication on warranty or resolution, even though I was effectively abandoned mid-treatment. This office is continuing to ignore and dismiss my concerns as it has for months. Although I can appreciate and respect that others may have had great experiences, I cannot recommend anyone go there and potentially live the nightmare I've been dealing with in trying to clean up this mess. read more
