Dr. Chris is patient and kind. My son had several concussions. Dr. Chris adjusted him in a very unique way that didn't hurt or scare Riley. He was kind and talked to Riley. He's never in a hurry. Riley was a different child after 5 sessions with Dr. Chris. Riley had been misdiagnosed after his first concussion, and his body tried to "solve the problem". The result was his skeletal system was like a pretzel inside. We had tried massage, dry needling, other chiropractors, PT, red light therapy, etc. He would get temporary relief but not freedom from the pain. Dr. Chris gave him freedom - not a band aid. first time here and definitely the last went to go get my neck checked out cause it's been causing me pain over the past weekend first they had me sit through a 10 minute video explaining how chiropractors slove everything ( clearly they don't) the receptionist was so lovely but the actual doctor was very rude first thing she said was that the supplements they sell would help I don't want their supplements I want their help after the lady tried to bribe me she was checking out my neck and I told her not to adjust my neck that way cause my neck was extremely stiff she did not listen and adjusted my neck the wrong way causing me more pain after she attempted to " fix it" she told me it was all fixed i nicely explained to her that she just caused me more pain her response was very bi*chy and rude if I could give this place 0 stars I would save your time and money and choose a different place to go. read more

I took my son in for back pain thinking that all chiropractors are basically the same. I had been seeing one in Colorado for years before we moved to Kansas. I could not have been more wrong. First off we had to sit through a 10 minute video presentation that looked like an elementary school production about how chiropractic can solve everything. I should have left at that point, but wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. All that they tried to do was keep telling us that my son was low on sodium, potassium, etc... and sell us supplements. All of this without one blood test or even x-ray to confirm anything they said. I knew they were snake oil salesmen at that point since my son had just had his yearly physical with full labs only a short time ago. I went to this office and they told me they could bill my insurance. Instead of making sure they were contracted before my appointment they told me what I wanted to hear. They sent me a bill asking me to pay for the entire visit since they were wrong. They also continue to send me emails without an unsubscribe option asking me to vote them the best in Lawrence which will never happen. read more

I went to Advanced Chiropractic for the first time back in January 2008 for my severe back pain. After only 5 visits I was feeling much better. Both Dr. Mary and Dr. Colleen are friendly and personable. (I hear Dr. Chris is great too, but I've never meet him myself). I do not have chiropractic insurance and I believe their prices are very reasonable for the exceptional service. I still have regular check-ups when possible to keep my spine in check! They use the Activator Method, which is the ONLY method I prefer. They also adjust children free, and have a referral program. I drive 45 minutes one way just to see Dr. Kyle and Dr. Chris's group. They are thorough, effective and quick and there is light at the end of the tunnel. Their goal is to get you the fastest relief and actually through the pain so you don't have to see them regularly except for basic maintenance as needed. My entire family (3 generations) swear by Dr Chris and his associates. He runs a great practice with a well trained and courteous staff of professionals. I've often come in expecting only a little relief, only to walk out feeling on top of the world. First time going to a chiropractor for some severe pain. I go in and I have to sit in a room by myself and watch what seems like a health class video from high school. I wait wait and wait to go in...finally I go in and she starts lecturing me about being on meds. Tells me that I look "dopey" that my eyes look dull. I have to take my meds and this person is not a physician and should not be telling people they should not be on meds. Anyways...after our little session I am met with a bill of $90.00. They tell me that I am the one that needs to call my health insurance to find out if they cover chiropractic care. Isn't that their job? Last I checked it was. I agreed and paid the $90.00. Which I now regret and will be calling my insurance company to try and get some reimbursement. To me I think this place is kind of a scam and they use scare tactics to try to get you to come back so they can rip you off. That's my opinion. read more

This Activator Method is a joke, right? I agree with G M. I came in with a migraine and they made me sit through an infomercial in a brightly lit room. All the while, I'm listening to deafening "clicking" of this Activator. Then an assistant came in and gave me a lecture while drawing some body/brain diagram. She was pretty loud and tears were streaming down my face because I was in so much pain. She didn't seem to notice. Next I'm transferred into a fluorescent lit room next to the clicking and I think my migraine reached new heights. When Dr. Colleen came in, she was very kind and personable, so no complaints there. She spent some time with me and she gave me water and crackers. I appreciated that. She "clicked" around on me, which really... I hardly felt and I didn't feel any real relief. They don't take city insurance, so I'll pay the $90.00. My migraine lasted another 6 hours after that with another 1500 mg of tylenol. So I'd say it didn't work for me. I liked the cleanliness of the facility, but if I go back to a chiropractor here in Lawrence, I'll go to that guy with the old smelly table... at least after seeing him, and having him crack all my neck bones and back bones... my migraine went away within an hour. I gave this place 2 stars because it's true... Dr. Colleen was kind and the place was clean. read more
