My father was a patient at Harbor Villa for about 60 days, and what our family experienced there…read morewas heartbreaking. The facility frequently smelled unpleasant. There was often a resident yelling loudly throughout the day, creating a chaotic and distressing environment. We saw rats in the parking lot and even cockroaches inside my father's room. It was incredibly upsetting to see him living in those conditions. Visitor parking is also an absolute nightmare most days. For families already under immense stress, struggling just to find parking makes visiting even harder. Most concerning, when my father pressed the emergency call button at his bedside, assistance was often extremely delayed. Knowing that your loved one is pressing for help and waiting -- sometimes far too long -- is a feeling I cannot adequately describe. It caused constant anxiety every time we left the facility. Although some staff members were personally kind, there was a serious lack of coordination and awareness about my father's medical condition. When his health declined, staff could not clearly tell me his recent vitals, explain his blood pressure trends, or provide accurate information about his care. I had to speak directly with the paramedics myself and provide his medical history and symptoms because the staff could not. While on feeding tubes, my father's sodium levels dropped significantly because he was not receiving adequate water flushes. We had to rush him to Hoag Irvine, where doctors determined he also had pneumonia and extremely high blood pressure. It was terrifying. Watching your parent suffer from something that should have been closely monitored is something no family should ever experience. Instead of supporting his recovery, the facility then declined to accept him back after we sought emergency treatment -- simply because we advocated for his health. We trusted this facility during one of the most vulnerable times in my father's life, and that trust was deeply broken. Please do your research. Ask detailed questions. Advocate fiercely. And if you have other options, I strongly encourage you to take your loved one elsewhere. No family should have to go through what we did.

We knew he specifically needed to be in a memory care unit, and we are so thankful that Harbor Heights was able to take him in so quickly once it became clear that we needed to find a facility as soon as possible. After comparing several options, we chose Harbor Heights because of the amount of staff that spoke Korean and would be able to communicate with our dad, and because the facility seemed to be better run and cleaner than several of the others we considered. Though his stay was ultimately very brief before he passed away, we are so thankful to the staff here for caring for him and helping our family through this extremely difficult and emotional time. Bob is genuinely kind, caring, and was so helpful conveying all the pertinent information regarding the elderly care business including contacts for placement agents! He didn't have to answer my call especially while he was driving but he did. He didn't have to volunteer any extra and tremendously helpful information but he did. He didn't have to spend 26 minutes on the phone with me patiently explaining information but he did! After that call, I felt like I talked to an angel; I felt so blessed! I didn't meet Bob (yet) but I know in my heart, I could trust him with elderly care for my loved ones. A million thanks Bob!

The house and interior seems newly renovated and well maintained. It is aesthetically pleasing with modern colors and decor. The rooms are personalized with each residents personal photos and memorabilia to make it their "home." What makes this place so wonderful is the caring/loving owner, manager and staff. Ruth the owner is very down to earth and has a very hands on approach involving resident care and safety. Most owners of these board and cares don't visit the place and just have someone manage it. Ruth is not so, I see her frequently at the house bringing goodies in for residents, checking in to ensure her staff are ok and any concerns are addressed. I work mostly with Kim (manager), Theresa and Courtney (care staff). Kim is sweet, caring, involved with patient care and safety and always there to support her staff. Despite of crazy days and chaos she encounters, she never brings it to work and always has a smile on her face. She goes above and beyond to ensure her residents are not just clients but family. She truly cares for her residents and that is the heart of this field. Theresa is always so gentle and patient with my little lady there. Courtney is fairly new to the house but she is also very sweet and friendly with the residents. This place has a lot of different activities to keep their residents entertained, minds active and improve quality of life. If you are looking for a place for your loved one and budget allows, I would highly recommend this place.

The place is beautiful, lots of flowers and greens, plenty of parking, lots of activities and I could go on and on about all the amenities; however, the most important asset this facility has is their staff. From the front office, administration, care givers, cleaning crew, kitchen and activities crew THE MOST CARING AND COMPASSIONATE, I have yet to find someone that is not that way. My father passed just a few days ago and all the out pouring of attention that Mom and the family has received from Meridian staff has been incredible. My has decided not to move out with any of us, we wanted to take her with us, we are all good children to her I promise ; but she decided that she feels so comfortable there that wants to stay. Better compliment than that of a resident having the choice to stay or leave and yet wants to stay can't be found. Thank you Meridian staff from my siblings and I we are eternally grateful to you for the compassion you shown to my dad and the love and attention you continue to give to my mom.

From…read morethe very first (long) phone call with Cammy, the Administrator, to the same day tour with Rochelle, the Assistant Administrator, we learned that Anaheim Crown Plaza was beyond EXCELLENT. The entire staff is the kindest, caring, and most compassionate people on earth. We found out that staff members were using their own money to provide little "treats" to our sister, Leslie. Every day, her caregiver would braid her hair and find ways to make her feel beautiful and special. Rochelle knows every resident and their family members' names by sight. Rochelle is always there to lend an ear, give lots of smiles and hugs to all. Leslie was transferred to ACP from a facility in Northern California. In the almost three years that Leslie was at ACP, Leslie benefited from a higher quality of life than Leslie had received in a very long time. The facility is spotless and odor-free. The rooms are spacious and the food is excellent. It is an Assisted Living Facility that provides outstanding medical case management, assisting to arrange all the medical appointments and following up that the medically ordered referrals are processed. This medical case management would be exhausting if the family members would have to do it themselves (and I am an RN). There were times when Leslie would refuse to eat or drink. We would often find Cammy sitting with Leslie and feeding her, or being the "cheerleader" for every bite or drink. (This is significant because at previous facilities Leslie had been hospitalized for severe dehydration and/or malnourishment.) Sadly, we write this review after we have said goodbye to Anaheim Crown Plaza. Leslie passed away this month. It was quite apparent to the hospital staff that Leslie was well cared for: her nails were done, her hair was clean and her skin was clear and smooth. Most importantly, Leslie knew that she was loved by her family and her entire extended family which was the staff at ACP. Do not hesitate to put a loved one at Anaheim Crown Plaza, it will be the best decision that you will make.

This is where the Blue Sky Manor came into play. Keep in mind I am very particular about my surroundings, and people I surround myself with. Sona, the Director, obviously knows this business, and exactly what she is doing. Blue Sky Manor is kept clean at all times, has a nice aesthetic appearance, and most importantly provides an individualized care program, for all residents. Additionally, Sona maintains an excellent staff. I would specifically like to point out the exceptional work of Sonia, very kind and understanding, and extremely professional. Gabriel, the assistant Director, is equally good at his job. From the first phone call, Kathrina was extremely helpful. She assisted me with everything needed to get my dad moved in; including the transfer from the nursing home to their house, all the paperwork and logistics. My dad's mood and enthusiasm improved immediately. They provided everything he needed, including his own room, physical therapy, food, a full time staff, and doctor care. It was such a relief knowing my dad was in such good and caring hands. And the cost was more than fair, especially considering everything they were doing. My dad celebrated his 84th birthday there, and Kathrina threw a little party for him, with cake and even gifts! It was wonderful. She always made him feel at home, and kept me informed of his condition, responding to my texts or calls right away. Unfortunately my dad never really got his strength back, and passed away on April 5th. But Kathrina arranged for hospice care and transportation to the funeral home. I couldn't have asked for anything more. It felt like she was an angel watching over him during his stay, which gave me and my sister great comfort. The service provided by La Palma Home Care and Kathrina was absolutely amazing. If I could give 10 stars I would.

I realized this May would have been ten years that my Mother entered Karlton, and it shows how well they have nurtured her through Alzheimers and this last journey of her life. I, as her daughter have been supported by the owners, and staff each and everyday. I cant tell you how many times they have held my hand through my mothers Alzheimers disease. They are truly angels. Karlton has a very special quality about it that I certainly had not found before placing her with them. They are extremely capable, and competent to manage Alzheimers/Dementia patients, and in the most loving way. The facility is calm, immaculate,and so well run. Elena has managed many aspects of my mothers care from her medical needs to mental health care needs.
