You can tell the people there do their job with care and concern. Things run smooth and they always seem to be at least one step ahead as to what we needed. German, a caregiver was fantastic. The physical therapy dept. was so flexible and made sure things went smoothly. Bianca in Social Services was always on top with help and resources with amazing communication. That can't be said about many places these days. There are many others, I can't remember their names. But everyone is gentle and caring and I wouldn't want my mom anywhere else. Oh and the food was very good, fresh like home cooked food. The facility is immaculate and on top of everything.

The place is fairly old and it shows. It looks like they painted some of the rooms but they use the cheapest painter they could find. Not a quality job. The beds are squeaky and old and rusty in places. It's still noisy. My wife had a TBI and the noise was Unbearable. It's a huge step down from the hospital as far as equipment, environment, and attention. From my experience, all of this is typical of a skilled nursing facility. I've only seen one that was better in all respects. The good stuff. The staff is very good when they are working with the patient. There's just not enough of them. We had a difficult time with the first physical therapist we had. I talked to the Therapy director and they switched Theripist and she was excellent (Neeva). My wife got an hour of therapy 5 days a week. In our case, the benefits did not come close to the disadvantages of the stay here. To be fair, that would be the same at almost all SNFs.

After 11 days in the hospital she was sent here. The whole point per their website is getting you physical and occupational therapy to get you ready for home life again. For my mom though she was just left in bed for 8 days. First the positive. Very clean facility with friendly staff. They have all sorts of activities several times a day for patients. I legitimately saw smiling patients having a good time participating. I witnessed a coffee social, games being played, and a movie night. Looked fun! The food looked pretty good too. Unfortunately the only way you'll participate is if you can get there yourself. Once my mom was taken here she was left in bed for 8 days to wither away. Not once was she taken to an activity. Not once did she see an occupational therapist in 8 days. One single time a physical therapist walked her up the hallway for 5 minutes only after my dad complained about lack of therapy. My wife and I got a wheelchair and took her out to the beautiful patio where they brought her a shrimp lunch even though she's vegetarian. It's the only time in 8 days she moved from bed. My mom would call me saying she's begged for an hour for someone to take her to the bathroom but no matter how many times she pushed the nurse button nobody came. After wetting the bed they just put her in a diaper which she had no choice to use going forward. She was bathed on her first day and that was it. My usually upbeat mom was so depressed and was afraid to move. It was so sad. Rooms had three patients. After talking to the other two they confirmed the same experience. This place would rather put you in a diaper than spend the time getting you into the bathroom. On the 8th day my dad had enough and took my mom home where she could barely move. He took her to her primary doctor who set up 5 days a week visits at home. 2 days physical therapy, 2 days occupational therapy, and 2 days nurse who helps with bathing, etc. After 1.5 weeks the improvement is pretty amazing. If this place spent ANY EFFORT in therapy it would have been a positive experience but they just left her in bed. Again, this is my experience. I saw with my own eyes this could be a positive experience but if you're not actively engaging they're not going to make any effort getting you involved in therapy or activities.

The facility was consistently clean and had a calm, welcoming atmosphere. It stayed organized without ever feeling chaotic, and the staff were professional, approachable, and responsive. That consistency carried across the entire facility--from the nurses, CNAs, and medical providers to social services, activities, dietary, housekeeping, and front-office staff. We received timely reminders and updates, which helped me stay on top of his care and next steps. As his primary caregiver, knowing I could reach someone when I had a question made my life easier and gave me much-needed peace of mind. Most importantly, my dad formed a genuine connection and friendship with the people caring for him. That certainly made his four-month stay feel much more personal and comfortable. PT and OT were especially important to his recovery. They were patient and encouraging while helping him rebuild his strength, mobility, confidence, and everyday abilities. Once they got me there they put me in a diaper! After putting up with this for several days I threatened to require transfer to another care center. Then they promised to get a commode for me for my bedside. They kept promising and promising, and never did it for the 6+ weeks I was there! In addition, the first space I was assigned had a TV that would only turn off if you unplugged it. Also, their TV channels did not include KTLA, a major local channel. Hygiene was also an issue. The curtain between me and my neighbor had smear of snot or other bodily fluids on it. It took more than a week for them to change it. Later on I had a chest infection and I got some fluid on the new curtain. When I told the cleaning crew, all they did was rehang the same curtain with the side toward my neighbor (who was there for cancer treatment)! There was also a security issue. One male resident, who apparently had some form of dementia, kept wandering the halls and entering my space, claiming he was visiting a friend (no males were in my unit, and the other resident also did not want him in our unit). I told the staff and they cautioned him ("you don't want to go back to the hospital (mental?), do you?"), but he continued to poke his head into my unit. I observed them lying to residents. They took away my neighbor's wheelchair because they didn't want her wandering unaccompanied in the halls, but told her they didn't know what happened to it. They promised physical therapy four times a week but I never received more than 10 to 15 minutes two or three times a week, and when I asked for more they said staff were unavailable.
